Someone posted that PFF free agent list earlier. Interesting read since they break down the players’ best fits schematically and role-wise and take a stab at their eventual contracts.

If those projections are close, Howie killed it with his deals for Mailata, Goedert and Sweat.

Based on their contract projections, I’d be happy with Chark or Gallup at WR.

At safety, Marcus Williams would be way too expensive. I’d be interested in Xavier Woods, who is fairly versatile for a FS. I’d also take a shot at Justin Reid

I dont know how accurate these salary projections will turn out to be. But based on this there seem to be a bunch of guys in that 6-7M per year range that would make a difference. And with a Slay restructure, we could potentially sign like 4-5 guys like that with money to spare.

Just wait till Orlando Brown signs a deal, woof

No doubt. He could get $20M a year.

At those prices:

S — Qandre Diggs

DT — Tim Settle

RB — Rashaad Penny

Maybe — Valdez-Scantling, OJ Howard, Kyle Fuller

I wonder if Howie would go after Chandler Jones in FA. He's exactly what we need.

He's about to turn 32 in a week.

Giving players a 2nd contract = good
Giving players a 3rd contract (non QB, specialists) = Bad.

It's something Howie would do, but not what we need.  Too old and expensive.

Ya I thought he was only 30. Meh, I'd still like a bonafide rusher, but he's likely too expensive.

Agree

Eagles should see of the Vikings are willing to part with Danielle Hunter in a trade.  If Rodgers leaves that division is wide open but if not they might be aiming to enter a rebuild with a new HC and GM.  Moving on from him can help them cap wise where they are about $18M over the cap currently for 2022.

Matt from JetroLot posted the following on his blog. https://jetrolot.com/mock-draft-no-qbs-allowed/

"This is which QB I hear attached to which team the most from different sources. For the record, I believe NONE OF IT.

2 – Detroit – Malik Willis

5 – NY Giants – Kenny Pickett

6 – Carolina – Sam Howell

9 – Denver – Matt Corral

11 – Washington – Matt Corral

20 – Pittsburgh – Carson Strong

26 – Tennessee – Desmond Ridder"

Now, I don't believe Willis at 2, but I 100% believe Detroit would draft Willis and let him sit behind Goff for a year. Similarly, it's easy to see the Giants wanting any QB over Jones.
At 15-16, we're in a good trade-up spot.

Also defended the WR corps was fixed cause they drafted 3 WRs and thought rookies during a pandemic was the best solution along with relying on desean to stay healthy.

I'd rather go after Landry if he hits the market.

Doubled up on CB, DE, LB and WR. While I wasn't heavily familiar with McDuffie, watched a couple Washington games and the kid has skills. Excels in press-man, but has zone skills as well. Willing tackler, and can be moved between outside and slot to take advantage of matchups. I have him behind Stingley, Gardner, and Booth who were all gone by 15 in this mock. The devil's trifecta of GA defenders with Walker, Wyatt, Cine was fun to hit. This draft completely revamps our O and D, and adds the murderleg Matt Araiza as well.

I'd be curious to see Hassan Reddick AND Barr brought in.  For a "multiple" defense 2 LBs that can really rush the passer well could give offenses fits trying to figure out where the rush is coming from abs ever those guys will line up.

Not sure how coverage would be though...

It's the most important position in sports(you can argue hockey goalie in the playoffs). Not discussing it, or ignoring it is laughable.

A good qb keeps the offense on the field, which helps the defense

A good qb can win you games to bail out your defense.

A good qb can make the other teams plays predictable which helps the defense.

It's not the only thing worth discussing. It's borderline pathetic that none of you are even capable of discussing anything other than QB. The way some of you obsess over it its obvious you have delusions that if this team got Wilson or Watson that they would be rolling in Super Bowl titles when that hasn't been the case at all for those QBs during their careers to this point. Delusions then that this team is much further along than it actually is.  Delusions over the complete lack of talent on defense.

Oh, the irony

"I know the frauds that the Philadelphia fans are. Behind that, there’s some hellacious people and they’re good people. And I know it and they know I know it, and so, we have a good time and I think probably the thing that I get the most kick out of is when one of the fans is really giving it to me. It’s wonderful to be able to go [Jones puckered up his lips and blew a kiss], so, we have a good time when we go to Philadelphia."

Happy anniversary

What a headline.

Just realized something. Will Minshew be willing to relinquish #10 when Jimmy G comes here, or is he going to have to be part of the trade?

Jimmy G is terrible and a downgrade from Minshew.

Remember all the people in full blown denial that he was going to be traded and refused to believe that he wanted out of here despite the nonstop reports?

The Eagles do need to get more weapons on offense. Specifically for the offense Sirianni wants to run. I don't believe Hurts is the long term answer, but you need to continue to build the depth and talent on the team, so when they do upgrade at QB they are in a much better position.

Actually, I don't think anybody is deluded by the overall lack of talent on defense.  However where we are utterly devoid of delusion is how limited we are by our current QB situation.  You, on the other hand have an Oscar Winning movie of a delusion about our current QB situation.  Furthermore,  you are so stuck on Hurts that you make statements like the above in response to people simply saying Hurts isn't good enough and want another QB.  Few in this blog are clamoring to give up a lot of assets for aging or predatory QBs, nor are most insisting a move like that would fix our team. Most of us are clamoring for a QB that is better than Hurts while also getting young and good talent on the defense.  Both can happen.

Interesting side note.  Howie’s contract expires at the end of 2022 and Lurie hasn’t extended him yet.  Hopefully, Lurie has grown a bit skeptical of Howie’s capabilities.
