Any scenario that would include trading a 1st for Jimmy G (or a 2nd) and keeping Hurts on the roster is a terrible idea.

I have no interest in keeping Hurts- AT ALL.

They traded a 2nd for him, I think we can get him for a 2nd. Hows that.

Screw that for a rental. Screw Jimmy G as the QB here in general.

Don't want Jimmy G, but won't be furious about it as long as it is a 1-2 year stop gap.

Also, it better not be for a 1st rd pick.

Help a guy out. This has never really been addressed...

Hurts need another year because he hasn't gotten a fair shake and we don't know what he's going to turn into. He has 30 appearances at the NFL level and 19 starts.

Meanwhile Minshew "has shown he's not a capable starter" despite 27 appearances and 22 starts. Keep in mind that the Jags have been a hot mess for years.

So of course the question has to be asked, aside from the obvious answer that we all know, why are they held to different standards?

Because Minshew wasn't here when Carson flamed out and all the haters started with their love of Hurtsey, now they can't admit they are wrong. Most of them have run for the hills but there are still a few stubborn ones left.

Besides #leader #great guy #hardworker #600lb deadlift

the problem with Hurts for another year is the negative impact it will have on the development of the young wr's.

Jimmy G aint helping that all that much

Jimmy G says he's working with the team (Lynch) to find the best possible fit for him -- so that implies he's going to have input on where he's dealt, and the team trading for him would be doing so with the intention of extending him.  You'd be looking at 3-4 years.

I just don’t see it with Jimmy g  , maybe I’m missing something , niners make super bowl with better QB play

Yup.

Having Hurts as your starting QB 2022 is more dumb!

A high draft pick for a guy who you say would be here for a year and would cost $24 million for the 1 season compared to keeping Hurts?  While I want another QB Grappolo seems like a bad choice, especially with the WR he had and he only threw 20 TDs with 12 INT.  Not sure what type of WR "development" you get out of him.

I asked that a while back.  It gets even more confusing when you compare their stats.  Minshew offers you more in every category except total rushing yards and rushing TDs.

But we know what Minshew is right?  He's a backup only.  Makes a ton of sense!

Doug played in the worst division for the following years and every single one of his players took a step, or numerous step back and Doug and Company Struggled.

Reich went to a competitive divison, has had 3 different QB's in as many years and still succeeds.

People need to pump the brakes with the superbowl win. Yes, it was amazing but a lot of BAD coaches win the superbowl.

Anyone with a set of eyes, that work can see that Dougs offense was stale, boring, and down right dreadful. So much so that there were numerous reports of other teams coaching staffs, and defensive players LAUGHING at Doug's scheme.

Doug will be fired within the next 5 years with 1 "decent" year mixed in.

According to Down under we should be able to sign him as an undrafted FA.

At the end Doug was bad, but why do all coaches now use analytics more than ever on 4th downs?.., Doug.
As the HC, Doug won the Super Bowl with a backup, Reich won zilch with Philip Rivers, and he set the Colts back a year by trading so much for a QB that hasn’t been good since 2017.

Doug only got this job because no one else wanted it lol.

One of 32 teams in the world?  Yea I’m sure no one else wanted it, the job was offered to one other person that turned it down. Sort of like Reich being the 2nd choice in Indianapolis.

Nobody dislikes Hurts on here more than me but screw that.

We need to evaluate what we have at WR and TE and we need to see Siri’s offense. I’d give whatever it takes to bring in a QB to help us do that. I don’t want to throw away 2 years.

Yeah, completely agree.  Nice arm but not great decision.  However, im willing to accept it may have been the best option for him on that play.  Nevada vs. Kansas is a lot of bad football.

I would have taken him as a stopgap but not for 1st and definitely not a big contract

I haven't watched a lot of him but that playoff game was a big no for me

I think you’re missing the point if that’s the takeaway.

It’s an incredibly high level throw into a small window on third and 20. He’ll learn what he can or can’t get away with once he’s in the league.

Hurts is better than Jimmy G, so it's bad even for a 7th.

Other than running, Hurts is better than very few QBs.

Probably half of the throws in college don’t work in the NFL, if they did, good QB’s would be a dime a dozen.  The only way they learn is playing.
Peyton Manning who’s never been known for his arm strength said it took almost his entire rookie season to catch up to the speed in the NFL.

ESP proposing Kirk Cousins lol

you are trolling right?

I mean Hurts is a better runner than Jimmy G. Thats about where the "better" starts and stops with Hurts

No, Hurts is better. Now, if you want to stay both are bad...fine.

Hurts is better at...

- Protecting the ball (turnovers)
- Limiting sacks
- Rushing
- Explosive plays
- Staying healthy

From an analytical perspective, Hurts also had a better year than Jimmy G by AV (total value), EPA and air yards per completion (meaning that Hurts threw the ball downfield successfully more than Jimmy). Jimmy's raw stats look better IF you include screen passes in the data set.

You can also just watch the games and tell that Jimmy is the byproduct of a top 5 play-caller + elite weapons. Must be nice to throw screens to Deebo then have him do all the work.
