Because we will run the ball like this year, which will enable us to beat bad teams. Plus, look at our schedule. NFC East is 3 wins. NFC north is at least 2. Same with the AFC South. So there’s 7 wins with the Steelers (no QB), Cardinals (depends on when we play them) and Saints (no QB and new coach).

The just hope someone falls into their lap is the more annoying of those two. Because they tried to trade up to get Zach Wilson this past year and they didn’t have the assets to do it nor a team willing to make that move for them to get high enough up.

I personally don’t think they’re gonna be able to acquire that quarterback this off-season. But I don’t think it’s gonna be from a lack of trying. I trust Joel Corry (agent) who put his name to what he put out there that Zach Ertz wasn’t traded sooner because they were trying to get a Watson deal done.

Carr would be the only option floating around I'd be interested in and I wouldn't give up the assets for him. Screw the rest outside of a one year placeholder.

The smartest thing they could do would be to draft all three first round picks and nail down 3 weaknesses out of C, DT, DE, WR, CB, LB,or S.

Maybe trade back a few spots but flipping one into another first probably won't happen. Lock down 3 out of their 7 weaknesses in the first, hopefully another in the 2nd (unless Carson Strong is there), and build a solid team.

Man, if you think plugging in Herbig and then Opeta was barely missing a beat, you are misguided.  Love the OL but those and Smith don’t make a dynamic offense on their own.   But you said pick 15-20.  That was teams that just missed the playoffs to third wildcards.  Now you are saying that losing 4-6 starters on defense, quite possibly Howard, Jackson out well into the season so Stoll is the current #2 TE again and neither Driscoll or Seumalo being sure to recover and rookies at a number of positions that the Eagles, with the worse QB in the league, are going to be a playoff team.  That seems contrary to likely reality.  I expect both the giants and commies to improve this year. Hopefully the Eagles stay as healthy as in 2021:but the reality is that is unlikely. Eagles may well be picking in the top 10, even top 5.

You don't think the Eagles will add players?  Which starters are going to be missing on this defense that will be a problem to replace?

You know that free agencyand the draft are still to come, so this roster wont be the same as it is currently. I don't anticipate Stoll to be the #2 TE by the time camp comes.  I expect a few UFA acquistions and those early draft picks should bring in someone who can play.

But, he's right... Hurts puts the Eagles in the 7-9 win range again, the OL will be their strength on offense that they will rely on, just as they did this past season.  Hurts wasnt good down the stretch, he was just there for the ride.  The OL and running game will carry them again to that middle of the pack purgatory... barely in the playoffs or just having missed and out of range of the top QBs.  You can't count on a team in the top 3 looking to trade out.  Finding a QB is hard.

I go Monty Brewster here.  "None of the above.”  I think Minshew marginally helps the offense grow since hes a bit better passer. But I think at the end of the day, this is another chocolate/vanilla situation. You might have a preference, but you are still eating ice cream. Neither is a molten chocolate cake.

I would agree with you.

Now let's have the others stop arguing for Hurts greatness.

The Bengals just played in the Super Bowl.  Basing conclusions on last year’s performances alone is a losing proposal.  You don’t think teams will prepare to stop the run and make Hurts beat them?  Is Hurts better than Jones, Heineke?  Are the giants with a fantastic new coaching staff, with two top ten picks, really going to be that bad you can guarantee a win against them?  With all the injured and Covid players back, are there two guaranteed wins against the commies?  Saints had the number one defense and lost Kamara and Thomas for extended times.  They lost their starting QB in Winston.  Chance Winston is back. Since Hurts is so bad and the Saints are so good on D, is it a guarantee they roll over.  Pittsburgh has no QB?  They at the least have three backup QBs. Not question that those three QBs can throw the ball.  Jags get another year of top picks and have a QB coveted in here.  Texans?  Team is in flux, so maybe a win.  Eagles four best defensive players are another year over 30 and lose at least four starters.  Do you think any of those teams are quaking at the Eagles D at this point?

Some of the same people to wail about how awful Hurts is liked your posts basically suggesting they have a team that can make the playoffs.  Maybe.  But just as likely as not, this team stumbles until the defense gets some experience. Just as likely, just like in 2018 when teams were ready for the Foles RPO, that teams are ready to spy Hurts and stop the run. But purgatory?  Nope.  Only purgatory is spending too much on a vet and not fixing the holes, spending to trade up for one of the draft prospects in 2022, not taking our lumps with Hurts one more year and fixing the lack of talent (assuming Howie doesn’t FUBAR, which is a reach, too.)

If Hurts is so bad, then why would we believe the Eagles win so many games to pick 15-20? That seems like contrary to what the general belief is about Hurts in here.  Only AFan seems to rank him as a 20 or better QB.

The argument is going to be when did the Eagles get most of their wins? After they de-emphasized Hurts. How many teams fare well in the post season by de-emphasizing their quarterback? He did pass for 3144 yards. I wonder how many of those yards came while the game was competitive? I don't know of a source for that. Of course he did rush for 784 yards.

This may be why Hurts gets ranked much higher by FO and PFF than people on this board.

Not making crucial mistakes (Stafford got away with two in the SB) is as important as making big plays.

And this is where Hurt's running is really valuable, 3rd and 8, less mobile QBs would force a ball into a tight window, Hurts keeps and runs for the 1st down

"But, he's not a good passer!"  No, but he didn't make a mistake and turn the ball over on a key drive, either.

Doesn't mean Hurts doesn't have a lot to improve, but there's a reason some mobile, weak armed QBs had a lot of success (Smith, Garcia), while strong arm QBs struggle their whole career - just because you can throw it 40 yards doesn't mean you should throw it 40 yards into double coverage.

Let's consider Hurts' playoff performance. Did you see the interception Hurts threw as the Eagles were in scoring position late in the half? Did you see the 3-4 interceptions that Bus defenders dropped?

Here is a breakdown of Hurts vs bucs.  Love to hear how the Hurts backers spin how bad he was into something else.

It's just one game and Hurts is a rookie...

that sucks. I loved having him as the last pick in my drafts for slot potential and finally having a return specialist who wouldnt make us feel that returners are obsolete in the NFL.

Lets not forget he improved so much after Nick went to a heavy run scheme offense. I mean his stats were pretty similar but because he didnt throw as much he dodnt look as bad. #EyeTest

Curious to see what the answers would be, but if the Eagles started Gardner Minshew last year ( the entire year) how many wins do you think the Eagles have?

Idk but around mid season I wouldn't have minded finding out

Ironically his numbers dropped in almost every statistical way from the first half of the season to the second.

Dont see any difference in wins since playing 3rd string QBs at the end of the season was the key. Gardner is a backup, but so is Hurts.

Not totals but % wise stats. But thats the point. he sucked in the beginning of the season and sucked at the end of the season. People just think he looked better cause he wasnt throwing 95% of the game anymore.

Im still a believer the FO and Coaching did it on purpose to see what Hurts had and if they feel he was the future. Once they went run heavy Howie was attending college games to watch QBs

Hurts sucks there are no backers but he doesn’t suck bad enough to blow firsts on a Jimmy fing G would sucks and can’t do anything with a stacked team. He sucks so bad they traded multiple first round picks for Trey Lance 😂😂😂

Last three starts - 66.7%, 3-1, 8.75 YPA  101.3 rating.

He sucked in the playoffs, a lot of QBs sucked in their first playoff game. Eagles were totally outmatched against TB.

This offseason is about adding a lot of young talent, team could regress next year, or what's more likely, struggle out of the gate then get hot as the young player step up.

Any scout revealing such information this time of year about a player climbing a draft board would be fired. Smokescreen or BS trying to validate his own analysis.

Nice cherry pick. Last I checked, the second half or "end" of the season is longer than three games.

Jalen Hurts started at QB in 16 games for the Eagles this season, including the playoff game. I went ahead and broke it down for the first 8 games and the second 8 games.

First 8 games:

61.33% Completion percentage

1,819 Yards

10 TDs

4 INT

89.3 QB Rating

14 Sacks

7.07 AY/A

73 Rushes

432 Yards

5.92 RY/A

Second 8 games:

61.0% Completion percentage

1,583 yards

7 TDs

7 INT

84.06 QB Rating

14 Sacks

6.92 AY/A

74 Rushes

391 Yards

5.41 RY/A

Worse in every possible way.

It was a very Bradford-esque argument people were making at the end of his season here.

He’s pumping the Senior Bowl.  That’s his job.  And pumping Zebra Technologies, a partner to the Super Bowl too. Nice shout out to a prospect they identified and had a nice showing.  Of course, that doesn’t hurt with recruitment next year.  One thing I bet you won’t see from Nagy is a tweet that "Blank Player is slipping on some teams’ draft boards after a dismal showing at the Senior Bowl.”  Sorry for the cynicism.
