Did you watch the Eagles-Bucs matchup?   The power running game from the Eagles was easily shut down and they had no answers, because Hurts was incapable of throwing the ball to win the game.

Bucs matchup on D was bad for us. Sanders also missed a few holes.

Still, need better passing.

Teams are already adjusting, did you notice that practically every team in the playoffs had some version of safeties high?

They're focusing on taking away the big play and the other team's top offensive weapons, and make QBs beat them by dinking and dunking and throwing to their 3rd and 4th targets.

Which is why a power running team (because DCs don't see many these days) gives DCs headaches.

A good defense doesn't have to stop a team (though what did KC do in the 2nd half), they need to hold them to FGs and force a couple turnovers.

This is why IMO that having a rangy FS with ball skills is just as important as having a stud pass rushing DE.  I hope the Eagles' FO can see how the game has changed and they have to think differently about how they prioritize positions.  They've always valued the trenches since Lurie has been owner and that's perfectly fine.  However, for some time now they have been neglecting other positions like LB and S.  Have that FS that can help you create TOs and limit the other teams' abilities to make big plays in the passing game, but if you're going to try and force teams to dink & dunk then you also need LBs with speed who can pass cover.  We can't continue to not prioritize these positions and wait til the later rounds to draft a player or sign a just above JAG FA.  They did bring in Jenkins and McLeod and when they were both healthy and in their primes it made our D better.  I hope they don't forget that.

It's important for an O to be able to both pass the ball effectively and run the ball effectively.  That starts with the OL for pass protection and run blocking.  Of course you need the other pieces to maximize how effective you can be.  Most teams are usually around that 60/40 pass to run ratio and a really good O should be able to run the ball when they want to and be fairly effective at it.  Now that doesn't mean always averaging 5.0+ YPC each game, but making the D respect your running game enough to take heat off the passing game.  And it works the other way as well where having a good enough passing attack can get the D to not focus on your running game.

I like that we have one of the best OLs in the League and we can be very effective running the ball.  Should nothing different transpire at the QB position this off-season then it will be interesting to see how opposing DCs scheme us.  Do they follow the TB/NYG blueprint and stack the box trying to neutralize our run game and if so then how does our OL and running attack hold up?  How do we counter it?  Can we counter it?  Loads of curious questions swirling around this football team right now.

Sounds like a BS report to me.

He has become a tremendously easy target because fans LOVE negative reporting and the media loves to pile it on.  Or course there is likely SOME fire where there is smoke but I wouldn't mind hearing from Wentz rather than all of these sources.  That story from some source, sounds like opinion stated as fact.

Any team with a decent defense was a bad matchup for us.

Mmm-hmm.  Because they were a legit defense, with a good DC who recognized how to shut down Hurts.

Were the Giants also a bad matchup?  What about Dallas?

Not totals but % wise stats. But thats the point. he sucked in the beginning of the season and sucked at the end of the season. People just think he looked better cause he wasnt throwing 95% of the game anymore.

Im still a believer the FO and Coaching did it on purpose to see what Hurts had and if they feel he was the future. Once they went run heavy Howie was attending college games to watch QBs

That seems like a reasonable take. It doesn't seem like Lowie want a run heavy team (unlike many here) unless they don't really have a choice. This year they didn't really have a choice.

It’s nice when the draft aligns with our needs. Let’s see if we can actually execute.

I would have Foster in that S list

Pitre , McKinley and Foster  , 3 I really like

Who is Foster?

But bring in a conventional pocket QB and teams will have more success against the run, so that QB will be in more 3rd and long situations . . .

Let's hope Howie doesn't decide to wait until Round 4.

last TDN  mock I did, I saw McKinley in round 6 or 7. I dont know how they Fd that up so bad. Was he accidentally on there twice? Not sure. He used to be a round 3 guy on there.

Very very interesting how Blankenship has still been completely forgotten.

That is how dumb AF is and why id rather have him on ignore then listen to his dumb takes. There is no conventional pocket QBs anymore. 99% of these QBs now have the mobility skills to run if needed. Perfect example Kenny Pickett. He is a progression read QB who likes to stay within the pocket. However he is a pretty good runner as well when he needs to be. Difference is unlike Hurts he will read his progressions and still look downfield until the last sec that he has to run. Carson Strong might be your only lack of mobility QB. Problem is Hurts is a one read running QB (RB who can throw here and there), what we need is a progression read QB who can be mobile if needed.

I'm thinking the Bengals might be a good trade partner for us if we're trying to get a 2023 1st. They're in desperate need of a good OT and the good ones are gonna be gone by #31.

#15/16/or 19 for #31+ as 2023 1st would be a solid move. They help keep Burrows upright, we get extra ammo for a QB search in 2023.

it was the Jets, silly.

Oh, so the teams sucking doesn’t matter for Hurts, but applies to Minshew.

Man, we've executed poorly recently in that regard.  RB draft and we draft Pumphrey.  WR drafts and we get JJAW and Reagor.

Lions could be another possible trade partner.  If they go Hutch with #2 (if JAX goes OT with #1) they have #32 and #34 plus the Rams 2023 1st Rounder.  If they want a QB and want to get ahead of PGH (they might be looking at drafting a QB) at #20 they could look to trade up with us to #16 and give us #32, the Rams 2023 1st, and maybe a mid round pick as well (they have a 3rd Round comp pick #97, but no 4th round pick and next pick isn't until a 5th Round comp at #177).

You don’t want the Donnell Pumphrey of safeties??

Historic d-line draft and we take an o-lineman

Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff before that.

I'm against every draft scenario that has us taking a WR in the 1st round.
