Do you guys really thing the Eagles will take a LB in the first round? Also, I see the articles about having Russell Wilson coming here, but he has stated that he wants to compete for another SB which the Eagles are not in a place to do yet.

Id rather any round 2 WR over Garrett Wilson. Those round 2 WRs are so good that its not worth passing on a different defensive playmaker, or even OL for a guy like Wilson.

At this point, I think I prefer a FA WR over a day one or early day two draft pick.

I think that there is decent depth in the LB class but it kind of depends how other teams rank the LBs on when they get picked.

Elam is underrated. Technique on how/when to be physical can be coached. The ability to stick on a WRs hip at all times can not. Thats DRC and Darius Slay type stuff that you dont see often.

Ill take Elam's coverage ability, length and athleticism, and live with a few penalties till its coached out of him. Give me that over McDuffy, and definitely over little McCreary.

I didn't know McDuffie well, but after seeing all the draft pundits talk about him as one of the surest things in the draft, I took it upon myself to watch his game against Michigan. Kid stands out. Always in the right position, can play inside or outside. I still have the bad taste of Sydney Jones in my mouth too, but we need to remember it's just the same school, not the same player.

I do like Elam however as well, just think 19 is high for him.

I'd like a combo of Mike Williams or DJ Chark with Alec Pierce, Pickens, Ross, or Watson.

There was a time when Elam was up in that range on the mock sims. For some reason a bunch of guys moved ahead of him. I wouldnt be surprised to see him creep back up over the next few months.

I know both Washington CBs look excellent on tape. But I think Elam has potential to be absolutely elite.

I think his combine/pro day is even more important than most. He's a R1/R2 borderline player. His combine could earn him or lose him millions.

I am concerned about an undersized CB from Washington.  I like the other picks.

I like his teammate better actually. I'd take McDuffie in the slot but we're already paying an undersized corner top slot dollar there.

Don’t think that would be enough for seattle.

I dont think so, either.

But if we could do that and that alleged trade for Hurts, we're essentially talking about Hurts and 2 firsts for Wilson and a second.

I'd do it in a heartbeat and I dont even want Wilson.

You definitely trade Hurts for a 2nd regardless of whether you are trading for or drafting another QB.

If you can get a 2nd for him, you just roll with Minshew worst case. And thats still better than having Hurts start another whole year here.

If Howie got on the phone and fielded calls for Hurts in a trade I don't think he could bring back any more than a 3rd round pick.

Zangaro and Reub had a podcast yesterday where they saw Hurts ranked 17th overall on NFL.com ranking, then went through the QBs immediately above and below him and decided 17th was correct.  Using the list I would have placed Hurts 22nd.  There are a few teams needing a QB who as of now will not be in a position to draft one in Round 1, and/or are undesirable destinations for the Big 3 of Wilson/Watson/Rodgers.

Steelers might offer a 3rd.  They're drafting 20th and might not want to give up the capital to move up.  Tomlin says he wants a mobile QB.

Saints might offer a 3rd.  They're drafting 18th but Taysom Hill is a similar commodity (sad as that is to say).  They could simply re-sign Jameis and are familiar with him

CAR could draft a QB, as could ATL and DEN as they're all picking top 10.  WAS will likely trade for a second-tier QB like Garoppolo or Wentz.

Hard to imagine any other team giving up a high draft choice to bring Hurts in.

I wonder how a virtual reality setup might be used by a QB like Hurts during the offseason to improve his reaction time, ability to read quicker and more anticipatory and to learn to feel the pocket and not seek escape.  I tend to focus on traditional teaching techniques, but it would seem they could take training to a whole other level.

Now look at this setup

I would think the NFL could take this to the next level.  Literally program in plays against opponents so that the QB could see what the DB does.  Realize how to operate in a smaller pocket.  Even fix flaws in mechanics.  I don’t know how CBA rules would impact this but f the analytics crew and video crew couldn’t work with one of these manufacturers to set this up for onsite training by the time that is open, then hire some that could.

It may be that QBs could be fixable in areas where before it seemed impossible.  Lots of reps so that it becomes muscle memory.

If I recall, this was something that the Chipper was pushing in his time as HC.  Would help someone like Hurts get meaningful practice reps of throwing the ball with no OL or D to throw against.  May not help with a players ego/swag if things don't go well.

I can’t imagine going CB and LB round 1.

This league is goofy

The reps would be helpful I wonder how the NFL would deal with it if the coach was setting the parameters.

Agreed. But I can dream.

R15 of the USFL Draft, the Philadelphia Stars select:

I still think the Eagles trade for a QB, but if they don't, I think doubling up on edge rusher in round 1 is better than drafting a LB. I think the LB logic is an overcorrection from a lot of Eagles fans. The team has been so anti LB in round 1, that I think people want it more than is warranted. LB is probably the least valuable position on a defense, and LBs tend to breakdown and retire early. They're essentially the RB of the defensive side of the ball. I think drafting one in round 1 is foolish unless they're generational. If the Eagles could come away with Johnson and Ojabo in round 1, that would be a major score. Can never have enough edge rushers and you can find solid LBs in free agency who are adequate enough. Hard to find pass rushers in FA.

That QB that looks better than Hurts and Brennan Eagles can be a great duo!

Lamar has used it since Louisville, he’s even partnered with a company.
Since the younger generations are into gaming, hopefully they’ll just do it w/o the NFLPA getting involved, well until Hurts does a few circle’s in his living room and trips over a coffee table.
You’ll also know who wants to get better w/o their hands being held.

CB is a high value position.  I think they certainly consider drafting one especially given the players that may be there at 15.

Carson Wentz was the worst QB in the NFL in 2020. He was broken. We still got a 1 & a 3.

Even bad QBs bring back good value.
