It’s probably going to take awhile given he’s paid like a star, rather than the #4/#5 that he is.

That's right... let's make sure we have 3rd and 4th DEs before we have our starters...

How about trying to walk and chew at the same time!

You can probably substitute Diva for star right now but to answer your question - probably in about 2 years when his current "max" contract expires.

Imagine how much of a **** Howie must be while retelling the story after he finally got one right.

Just listening to Adam Caplan on the Football at Four podcast from Friday and he had some interesting takes — some I agree, some I don’t

— Has edge rusher top priority in the draft, followed by CB.  Figured if the Eagles thought DE were the best two players on the board at 15 & 16 they would draft DE, DE …. I have a hard time picturing that

— Says the Eagles will pick at 15 and 16, then trade #19 for a 2023 1st round pick.  As I’ve said before, easier said than done.

— Has Ahmad Gardner top CB on the board (agree), figures he’ll be long gone by the Eagles picks.  Says they’ll take Stingley if he’s still there.  He didn’t mention Booth, who would be my choice as best CB available after Gardner

— Don’t expect the Eagles to draft LB early.  He lists the Eagles needs as DE, S, CB, DT, WR.  He figures S will be addressed in FA.  He says the Eagles still see Davion Taylor as a starting LB going forward

— He thinks a Fletcher Cox trade is possible, if not then 2022 is definitely Cox’s last year with the team.  He thinks the Eagles view Milton Williams at DT and will also draft DT

— He thinks the Eagles will need a veteran WR in FA.  He sees Smith and Watkins outside and Reagor in the slot, if he’s still here.  Says Ward will be gone

— Boston Scott will be gone unless he can be signed at a low number; the Eagles won’t pay him $2M given his current role.  Says it will be "the Sanders and Gainwell Show at RB”.  They will wait until August to see if Jordan Howard is still available

What is the obsession with f'n Howard. Geezus, I hate reading that. Going with 2 small undersized backs, one that is injured every year. And let's go with a LB that is light and literally has done nothing besides show a flash or two, but he's our starting LB... Yup, sounds like Howie/Jeff are calling these shots. The definition of insanity, I lost track of how many years now 🤦‍♂️

Not with Howie being the guy to pull the trigger, he's proven he can't find elite anything in the teens, or even average for that matter.  So, afan is being proactive and undercutting the hope early.

That's what I got out of his response as well. He's just trying to put less pressure on the first round picks Howie has to make.

Guys like this is what you look for after the 1st rd, you can use him in a part-time role and STs for a year or two while he bulks up.

There are these players in every draft, lack the skills in space for LB, lack the bulk for DE but have the frame to eventually fill out.

Of course, but you also factor in hope.  We hope they fill out.  We hope the 18th-22nd years of their life isn't their athletic peak.

DE :

T. Jackson - we'll see if he sticks

Sweat - good

Shareef Miller (2018) Nope

Toohill(2019) I say nope but others may disagree- played 16 games last season, started 9, 1 sack, a few pressures

McCallister (2016) Nope

Mahalik (2015) Nope

Hart (2014)  Nope

LB:

P. Johnson- 2021- meh

Taylor- 2020- meh

Bradley- 2020- yep on ST

2019-2017 no LB drafted

J. Walker- 2016 Nope

Hicks- 2015 - YEP

2014- none drafted.

I’ve had Booth as the number #2 CB behind Gardner since December, but I’m not sleeping on Stingley, he covered Chase all of 2019 in practice and his play in 2019 had him as the top CB as a freshman, it’s unheard of for a kid out of high school to be that good as a DB.  I’m not sure how well he’ll do covering grass in Gannon’s system, plus the injuries he’s had the past two seasons hurt his draft stock IMO.

I love listening to Cosell when Caplan and Mosher have him on ITB, he’s very blunt, almost to the point of it being uncomfortable, he destroyed Hurts for his play in 2021 and he crushes the Eagles for not valuing LB’er, going so far as saying if Gannon, coming from Indy with D. Leonard can’t convince Howie how much a good LB’er can change the defense, then Gannon isn’t as smart as everyone believes, or Howie is just that stubborn and not that bright either.

Much like Philly Sports Radio.  Don't know how anybody can bother listening.  Terribly droll.

IMO, the best way to watch is to record and fast forward parts you don’t like.

Combine also good as as 2nd screen experience. Do something else too.

I don’t find the combine boring at all . I enjoy getting home from work and watching it .

He’s my SAM in what I take from Gannon’s D. He seems to be wanting a hybrid 3/4 -4/3 like we have seen from Belichek and the Ravens D coordinators.  It may be because it fit Avery, it may be Johnson because played similarly at Tulane but they also moved Ostman to LB.  Sanders looks like a perfect "Elephant” to me and I think that is what Gannon wants at SAM.  And 242 is an ideal weight for that position.  I like Luketa for that role as well.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Cole Kelly performs at combine  , huge QB 6 ‘7” 260 lbs. some team will fall in love with his size

I watch it but they spend way to much time on the QBs and 40 times.  My favorite parts are the DB drills and the OL drills. Really don’t like the WR drills much, and not a fan,of the gauntlet.  The DE and LB drills don’t show as much as their three cone or short shuttle, two drills that the NFLN has a habit of cutting from and talking bull in interviews.

Looks like he just arms the ball, feet and legs aren’t in a lot of his throws.
