I'd give Wentz my vote of confidence and would just hope to get blindly lucky that it all comes together in 2022.  You already ate the pick, so you might as well give it another year.

If there is someone you like in the draft, by all means, pull the trigger.  But you have to pretend to be happy with Wentz in the meantime.

I don’t think Indy is a train wreck, but they’re handling of Wentz in the media has been really off, especially considering how things spiraled in Philly.

It’s not like he he played like Mitch Trubisky last year.

Why?

Because that would be a complete dumpster fire of a draft

Hurts for Barkley.....straight up.  RB for RB.

Barkley might have a better arm.... and could probably read a defense....

Sure, liked that too but a RB in the 2nd this year ??? He had Brisker and Winfrey go after that pick. Stingley sliding to 16, somethings wrong with that picture

Hate rb in the second. Day three pick sure

OL seems likely in the second to me

At what pick overall?

Not sure. One of the 1sts wouldn't surprise me.

Edit: Barkley is in a contract year.

If he plays well, you have to pay a 26 year old RB with major injury concerns.  If he does not have a great year, he walks.  He's also a $7m cap hit (do the Giants take on some of that?)

I'd trade a 4 if we were in desperate need of RB.  For us?  5 with conditional upgrade to a 4.  It'd be a pointless trade.

It’s his 5th year option so no, whoever trades takes the full $7M

Pickett will be wearing a different hat before then.  No way he makes it out of the top 11 with CAR, DEN, and WAS being in need of a QB, and ATL, NYG, and MIN also possibilities.

Pickett is the lone prototypical pocket-style QB prospect in Round 1.  He won’t be on the board very long

Will be interesting seeing what Aaron Rodgers decides to do.  If he tells the Packers he's all in to stay in GB, you'd have to think there's going to be quite a few teams on the phone trying to get Jordan Love.  Would be very interesting to see the Eagles go after him.

I admit I don't know much about him or watched him but I saw some throws he made in that KC game where Rodgers didn't play and Love looked awful.  Terrible mechanics, throwing off his back foot alot.

They drafted him to replace Rodgers eventually.  But you never hear that he looks good in practice or that he's making progress or anything to make you think GB could move on from Rodgers and be OK with Love going forward.  If I were the Eagles I wouldn't take him.

Just for craps and grins...

1) what would you trade for Barkley?

2) if he was traded how much does he fetch?

Draft Walker. Forget overpaying for Barkley.

My thoughts exactly, Ballard, Reich, and Irsay have **** all over him since the loss to Jacksonville.  His last two games were ugly and he had a few terrible passes for INT’s but who’s out there, available, and better?  Draft or FA?
Their defense was awful against Jacksonville, and Eberflus, stupid name and all, gets a HC job, while Wentz became the anti-christ? IMO, something happened we haven’t heard about.

1) Absolutely nothing

2) don't know.

Yep. You only should talk this openly about him if you know you have an upgrade in place. Wentz wasn’t all that good, but he wasn’t a bad QB overall. I don’t think they have a clear path to an upgrade, and trashing Wentz only deteriorates his value (already low) and his relationship with the team.

Weird stuff.

Yikes.  Imagine what kind of FA RB's you could get for $7m free of draft capital.  There are usually some decent options.  And a 4th round investment in a rookie will give you 4 years of a back that was probably around the back end of the top 5-7 in the whole draft.

A 4th round pick and $7m for 1 year of a guy with injury problems?

He's a huge name from his college days.  That might be the only reason someone picks up the phone when the Giants call.

Incredible.

Ok, if you’re Indy what’s the plan?  They don’t have a first round pick.  Who’s the guy that’s an obvious upgrade?  Taylor Heinicke?

You said Indy is a trainwreck for acknowledging Wentz is probably not the answer. Sounded similar to the same BS I heard last offseason here. If anything, Wentz hauled the wrecked train with him to Indy.

They're in a terrible situation, no doubt. If I were them, I'd bite the bullet and trade for Jimmy G. They're gonna look like morons, but they should be more worried about trying to win playoff games than justifying the sunk cost in Wentz. I have way more faith in Jimmy G not to crap the bed than I do Wentz.

Jimmy G said the 49ers are working with him to find the proper landing spot for him.  If that’s true then you’d have to believe he’s asking Lynch to cross Indy off the list

If Carson Strong is still on the board at #47 when the Colts make their first selection then he’s almost a cinch to get chosen there.  They might trade up some for him using 2023 assets

That’s a weird plan. Move away from a guy who probably isn’t the answer for another guy who probably isn’t the answer because he won a couple of playoff games because his defense and special teams saved him? All while spending an absurd level of draft picks and cap space to accommodate the cap hits for two guys who probably aren’t the answer?

While not perfect or without its share of huge busts, that’s a pretty strong hit rate for OL and fast 40s.

There was tweets put out by Schefter, Rapaport or one of those guys that said Indy's decision to move on from him won't be just because of on the field things.

I’m not.  I don’t hate him or Hurts.  I just know Hurts isn’t the guy.  I was wrong about Wentz.  A lot of us were.  Especially after what he showed early in his career.  But some people are still obsessed with hating the guy, it’s sad.

Yup
