Without Hargrave it would be Milton Williams .... and tumbleweeds at DT.  Even with him you still need rotational guys if Williams and Hargrave are your starters.  

I am surprised we haven't heard more about an extension for Hargrave, given his cap number and play. Seems like a layup. Cox is here in 2022 given his contract -- hell, he's hard to cut in 2023 as well unless post June 1.

16 & 19 & OG Isaac Seumalo to the Jets for #4. We move up for Travon Walker. Douglas targeted Isaac in the draft when he was with the Ravens. 
Move back into the 20's with pick 15 and try to snag a second rounder. 
You could still get a DT or CB in the 20's then hit two of the remaining positions LB/CB/S/DT with the two seconds. 

Too rich for my taste, walker looks to be a stud but that would be too much to give up for me at least.

Cox is on the decline and Hargrave is a FA after next year. So you have Milton (who I really like and am expecting a big jump out of this year) and...anyone? Bueller? Getting a Jones in R2, or a Butler from TN later on seems like a smart investment.

Ridley is more akin to Lane Johnson than Simmons. Calvin Ridley didn't decide to not catch a football and then run away when the fans criticized him. He was dealing with anxiety. Real anxiety, not made up anxiety like Simmons.

He's 1 of 3 punters we should be looking at along with UGA's Camarda and PSU's Stout.  Araiza is getting the most hype for his booming kicks, Camarda has been solid and consistent for 4 seasons in college, and Stout statistically is the most efficient while kicking in colder climates.

Getting Travon and JD99 at 15/16 would be an out of body experience... but they could bust/underachieve/not reach their potential, and there are guys like Josh Paschal and Travis Jones who I'd roll the dice on later.  No big trade ups for me, unless we are talking QBs which we really shouldn't.

Ridley is playing on his 5th year option this season as well, so the Eagles would not only have to trade premium capital to acquire him but also have to sign him to a large extension with some big unanswered questions hanging over him.

I agree. This draft is loaded with pass rushers and many are very similar in terms of ability.  I wouldn't trade up for one.  The only guy I would trade up for is Sauce Gardner if he falls to around 7.  I think he could be a potential shutdown CB.

What about Michael Turk?  Same 51.2 avg as Araiza this season, 47.4 avg over the past 3 seasons, and did 25 reps on the bench press at 225 lbs -- better than 19 of the 34 OL who participated, and 12 of the 13 TE at the 2020 Combine.

Playing at Oklahoma it's possible his punting average might have been helped by the occasional tornado, though.

Jameson WIlliams is my favorite WR in this class. Because of the ACL, likely will be there at 19.

First time I've seen a mention of him.  Yeah, add him to the mix. 

 

They better not be trading down, we need three players and there is more than enough depth in this draft for our needs

It's possible the Eagles brass knows of another team ahead of them in the draft who covets Ojabo, or thinks that they do.  Howie likes to play things close to his chest so this is probably more guess work by the beats than fact.  I like the player, just hope they don't trade up for him since most predictions have him falling to us and there's loads of depth to choose from.  I believe in going and getting your guy, but he should be there when it's our turn.

Why?  They have enough picks to draft both positions and this draft is loaded with DT talent.  You can't pass that up.  DT is a position that also needs an infusion of young quality talent.  They could draft 2 DEs/edge and a DT this draft.

That's what I was thinking.  I think you can find pretty comparable talent without having to trade up.  The DL is so deep that there isn't a huge drop from the middle 1st round guys. 

Real shame that this seems to be a pretty solid draft for defensive players and Howie will somehow blow it.

Yes, like that.  Though, I'd be surprised if Walker fell to us (but if he does, F'ing sweet!) and if they draft 2 DEs in the 1st.  I wouldn't be mad if they did, but just don't see them doing that.

I'd be fine with one of Walker/Johnson/Ojabo at DE in R1 and Mafe/Ebiketie/Williams in R2 or in R3/R4 Paschal/Gunter/Luketa.

And for DT I'd like any one of Wyatt/Winfrey/Jones/Davis early.

 

I know it'll never happen, but I'd be a happy guy if we left round 1 with Gardner, Davis and Walker/Ojabo...or a combination of the group and a trade down

He has the pattern for doing so, doesn't he?  That is the fear that haunts us all.

There's so much talent in this draft at every D position:  DE, DT, S, CB, and LB.  All with potential quality talent into Day 3.  And we have a need/s at every one of those positions.  We are not set at any of them.

I really hope he doesn't go full on "Look at me!  Look at me!  I'm the smartest GM in the room!".
