The funny part about the Wilson to Denver trade, people said he would not come to Philly because of his wife, even though it is 2 hours from New York and closer to her roots in Atlanta, now he is going to Denver, the mecca of the entertainment industry.

Ciara hates Philly so the proximity didnt really matter all that much. It was pretty much never a possibility

So Commies offered more but Wilson said no?

Good man that Russ.

Damn they only gave up two 1sts.

Fing Howie

Two 1sts

Two 2nds

3 players

one 5th

Way, waaay too much

ONE 2022 1st, a 2023 1st and ONE player (Hurts) needed to be the maximum Eagles offer.

Great job by Howie

Im glad Howie didnt do this movie.

3 starters, 2 first, 2nds, a 5th for a 33 yeard old QB.

PASS

Meh. Lock wasn't a starter for them last year. Harris is a 31 year old DT. Fant is good but not living up to his draft status. Hurts would have had more value than Lock and would lower the draft pick compensation.

What'd they offer?

I mean, if it was Russ that said no who can blame him?  That franchise is the laughingstock of the NFL.

Yup. Plus us giving 2 2022 firsts would be better than their 2022/2023 firsts. We wouldn’t have had to give up nearly as much in addition.

If Wilson got that then I can't imagine what Rodgers would have cost

The real problem is his age.  It's really hard to tell how long a guy is gonna be able to play.  Brady played until 45, but Eli Manning hit the wall around 34 or 35. I'd argue that McNabb started to go downhill at 31.

If they get 5-6 good seasons out of him and he can play at a high level, then this is a good trade.  If he has a good year, then hits the wall and is done by 35 or 36 then this is a terrible return.

fant also entering the last year of his contract. Needs a new deal. And they have tight ends on that roster they actually liked last year and even used a lot when fant was hurt

Poor Fangio. He suffered through Bridgewater and Lock only to get fired and for the Broncos to then get Wilson.

They can still 5th year him.

Seattle definitely does not have 10.  Traded that for Adams.

They only have 9. #10 was a part of the Jamal Adams trade which looks even dumber now.

Frankly I think the Eagles didn’t wanna make that move with Wilson because of his age. I think that’s why there’s been more smoke and more rumors circulating around Deshaun Watson because he’s only 27 years old. I think that’s why they sent someone to check on his legal status. Would they have traded for Russell Wilson if the price wasn’t that? Maybe. But I think their interest has always been Deshaun Watson due to his age and ability if he was able to get clear of everything that he has been accused of doing.

Unless we draft a QB (unlikely high enough to be picking the QB we want so trading you for unproven commodity— if you can even get a team to trade with you or have the assets) or hurts leads us to a SB, that means if they go either this year or next year or even 2024 to get a quarterback on the trade market that’s what you’re likely going to pay if that’s the type of quarterback you’re getting. It’s probably going to increase if Russell Wilson pans out for the Broncos.

Except we'd have to make up the difference between 15 and the 9th pick they got from Denver.  It would probably have been 15, 19, 51 and next year's 2nd, plus Hurts and then whatever value Fant and Harris have.

Howie saved an insane amount of money getting Mailata done.

Before the trade, Seattle's first pick was #41

Extending players on their rookie contracts = good
Extending players on their 2nd contracts = bad

That's a simplification, but Howie's best deals have been 2nd contracts not 3rds.

That trade made sense for Seattle. Wilson obviously didn’t wanna be there anymore. Just because people don’t want to believe any reporters nowadays but there were a ton of rumors for like two years saying he wanted out and some issues with the FO.

so to keep a older unhappy player and decreases value as each year passes because he gets older and the rumors of not wanting to be there gets louder. So why not do that trade when you’re already in a deficit in terms of picks and set yourself up to go after a QB in this draft like willis or next year. you stockpile picks in multiple draft so that you can potentially go get your quarterback either in this draft with pick number nine or next year have the assets to make a trade or draft a quarterback because you’re likely going to be in position to get someone like CJ Stroud or have a bunch of assets to make a trade.

I don’t deny that Howie has done some bone-headed things but at least I can acknowledge that he has done some really good things as well. Some in here cannot.

He has.  The bad has outweighed the good for a significant amount of time, and we are still dealing with the bad.  And the good hasn't had a chance to overcome it.

Eh, he was starting to show primadonna tendencies there towards the end. I'm passing personally. Will command a first rounder and a big contract.

I'd be willing to give both of those things for Metcalf. He only just turned 24.  Metcalf paired with DeVonta is such a good duo to have for their 20s.

Seattle fleeced them
