They can still 5th year him.

I’m looking at it more from the Denver standpoint. I don’t think they were going to re-sign him nor think he was worth the money on his fifth year option so got rid of him a year early. Fant has potential but he’s very injury prone and has not lived up to where they drafted him. I’d bet ertz is mentioned with the broncos this offseason.

I'd be willing to give both of those things for Metcalf. He only just turned 24.  Metcalf paired with DeVonta is such a good duo to have for their 20s.

Who’s gonna throw it to them

He has definitely done some great things, not just really good.  But there is a trend…

Good to great things: UFA additions, trades, late round fliers

Bone head things: premium/early draft picks, veteran extensions.

Some UFA additions have been great... some have been awful.   Recently, much more on the awful end, not just in the talent level, but the money invested compounds it.

I might be in the minority.  But I think Denver made a bad deal.  I see his decline being rapid and sooner than people think.

You either have a franchise QB or you don’t. And if you don’t, it really doesn’t matter in the end. Given that division that has 3 franchise QBs (2 of whom will be there for the next 10+ years), I don’t fault them for trying to get theirs. The Rams set the blue print last season for teams who really won’t care about picks if it brings them an elite, veteran QB.

Draft/picks nerds will hate that logic, but it is what it is.

That trade made sense for Seattle. Wilson obviously didn’t wanna be there anymore. Just because people don’t want to believe any reporters nowadays but there were a ton of rumors for like two years saying he wanted out and some issues with the FO.

so to keep a older unhappy player and decreases value at each year passes because he gets older and the rumors of not wanting to be there gets louder. So why not do that trade when you’re already in a deficit in terms of picks and set yourself up to go after a QB in this draft like willis or next year. you stockpile picks in multiple draft so that you can potentially go get your quarterback either in this draft with pick number nine or next year have the assets to make a trade or draft a quarterback because you’re likely going to be in position to get someone like CJ Stroud or have a bunch of assets to make a trade.

Imagine they kept him and he had a bad year or gets injured. In terms of trade value this might well have been now or never for them. Now or never like.. Bradford, Wentz? We'll see. This could go either way in my book. But in general that price seems way too steep.

My guess is Tim Patrick.

Too much.

So we’re back to "since we have nothing to get super excited about, let’s get excited about our rivals not getting better” territory, eh? Fun times.

Agree on the first part.

I think that price is gonna be steep anytime you go to get a quarterback that is of that caliber and even more if he’s younger than what Russell Wilson is.

The only way the Eagles are going to get a cheap quarterback is it Jalen hurts becomes the player Russell Wilson is, or they draft one high enough. Even drafting there’s a highly likely chance you are not bad enough so you going to have to move multiple picks to get that QB you covet. And that’s if there’s a team willing to trade down with you but another team might have more assets and better assets than the eagles anyway.

Some haul for the Seahawks that.

If we do draft an offensive player in round 1, I would want to add Zion Johnson to this O-line

If WAS were smart they would pick up Wentz for a 2023 2nd round pick AND draft a QB at #11 this draft.

This is one of the dumber ideas, but Prisco going to Prisco.

Seattle: Just take the better deal!

I think Denver is way better off than Seattle is going to be in the immediate and near future. Plus they had an extra 2 and 3 from the Miller trade. And now imagine if they sign Miller back in FA.

I don’t get trading him out of the NFC. He’s 33. By the time Seahawks are competitive Russ might not even be in the league. Get the best deal possible and rebuild.

Gonna be a crazy next 2 weeks.  Hard time believing Lowie will want to stay out of the limelight.  They are itching....

Yeah i agree. There’s been way too many rumors and smoke around Deshaun Watson in the Eagles not to be trying and more rumors coming out. And I tend to believe Charles Robinson and joe banner about the landscape for watson both have said that when watson goes to look at the options are going to be around him the Eagles start looking a lot better than having to go to the Washington commanders (dysfunctional FO and ownership) and Carolina who might fire their coach, have a bad oline  and are trying to actively shopping of Christian McCaffrey.

that said I don’t see the Eagles getting that trade done. However I don’t think it’s ever gonna be from a lack of trying.

I agree. They gave up too much for him.

Hard to do when he knows all the options on the table and can just say no to Washington knowing Denver is out there.

Wonder if we’ll get any Dillard trade news, but I imagine that it’s a bit too early for that.

Afc West is going to be ridiculous next year with Wilson, carr, herbert and mahomes. Derek carr might be the worst of the 4 QBs but could be the best QB in the nfc east if he were in our division.

I'd love to try and get Johnson from the Browns plus grabbing another on day 3. Probably very slim chance of Johnson though.

Knight or Allgeier and they look like they are going late
