He's more of a finished product than people care to admit.  He spent 4 seasons....playing and getting coached up....at two college football factories.  It's not like he's Trey Lance.  His arm....is what it is at this point.  His mechanics need a complete overhaul.  And that most likely would take years to perfect.  He is what he is.

Yet the best QB those college football factories have produced in the last 30 years is Sam Bradford. Maybe they do not train their QBs as well as they do all the other players on their team.

Players like playing in Seattle. Wilson didn't like Pete Carroll. They're an attractive market.

Hurts put up the same passing stats as David Mills...

I think Davis Mills is a promising QB for the Texans going forward.

How long will we be in QB hell for?

Not the point.  The point is when he is a "finished product" it won't be much different than where he is now.

Could be but I highly doubt it.  People who have that level of drive and work ethic to go along with the physical tools and talent will more often surpass expectations as they develop than won't. He already proved a lot of people here wrong last season over things you all obsessed over to try to trash him last offseason only for the goalposts to be moved.

All Jalen has done since college and into the pros is continue to improve season to season. Now he gets to enter his second season as the starting QB here and he will do so playing under the same offensive coordinator for two seasons in a row for the first time since he was in high school.

I would be so disappointed if they sign him.

He had a productive year last year but he'll also be 32.

Not sure how much he'll get on the open market but I could see a team trying to sign him to a 1 year deal if he would take it.

Who knows maybe he just retires, he's certainly accomplished enough in his career.

I disagreed with this yesterday and I'll say it again.

If we got Russ or Rodgers for a decent price we'd be a top 3 team in the NFC.

i dont think people realize how talented this offense is because of how bad Hurts played. Devonta Smith ends up with 1300+ yards with a real QB. This defense gets to pin their ears back more often with a real QB.

That's the problem, it won't be a "decent" price. It's multiple early round picks an a fat contact in a year we don't have a ton of cap wiggle room.

I don't see how we do that, fix the defense on 3 levels, and find a reliable WR2 in 1 off-season.

NFC is wide open with only Rodgers and Stafford in the way. So I agree they aren’t "just” a QB away, but if they did make a splash at QB and then added some players to D via free agency and renaming draft picks, they could easily compete for a NFCCG and possibly SB.

Eh while it's true the NFC is weak I don't think our current team + a guy like Wilson, stripped of most of it's early round draft capital and with less cap space, is going to be consistently better than the Rams/Packers. Or even teams like the Cowboys.

Next year or 2?  If we hit on a few early picks and use our cap space wisely I think we absolutely could be there.

Depends on how long we're stuck with Hurts.

Ok. Who is the qb?

From a passing perspective....do you think he's closer to a new ball of clay or a harden rock?

I think he is more in the middle, probably a tick closer to a hardened rock, but still plenty malleable.

Hard as a rock.

Curious what Burks does today. Lance Zierlein said scouts he talked to are adding 0.05-0.07 seconds to combine 40s because the turf was replaced since the last combine.

I’m more curious about Winfrey, Chenal, Jake Ferguson, Henningsen, Sanborn, Bonitto, Isiah Thomas, Asamoah, Hayes.

They could absolutely be better than the Cowboys who are doing some kind of dumb rebuild themselves. Consistently better than Packers/Rams? Probably not. But if they can get good enough to compete anything can happen in one game. Plus either one could have a rash of injuries or just have a down year or just choke in the playoffs. A lot can change in 2+ years. And with only 3 or 4 good QBs in the NFC that means 12 to 13 other teams in this conference alone could be looking to upgrade QB. If the guy is there and you can absorb the cost you have to do it.

Different opinion regarding his tools and talent.  I didn't see it in college- good enough college QB where timing, accuracy, tight throws don't matter as much, but being a running QB cam make a big difference.

New Ball - Hurts best attribute after his work ethic is his coachability.

Seattle is not trading for Watson lol. If they didn’t want to rebuild they would have just kept Wilson, who was fine staying in Seattle, rather than replacing him with a dude who will likely be suspended. Those are Houston leaks(the team Aaron Wilson covers) trying to create a bidding war.

just to point out it’s going to be that price whether they do it this year or next year. That price isn’t changing.  It’s not gonna get cheaper because you’re ready to go get a quarterback right then. And if people think it’s gonna be cheaper to move up the draft to get that quarterback, you’re paying a premium to move up on a player that is not even a proven commodity and could wind up being Mitchell Trubisky. Additionally if you plan on doing it next year, you at the moment don’t have the assets to potentially beat out a team like seattle to do it. There’s a good chance they don’t fix the defense in just one offense ( highly unlikely they do to begin with) and on offense you wind up having more holes next year  so you are gonna need those picks then too

I'm not arguing it's Hurts. Or that I see a clear answer in the draft. I just think if you're going to swing for the fences with a QB you better have a a good team around them.  I think our D in particular is at least a year and multiple high picks away there.

Eh I don't think we'd be clearly better than the cowboys with Wilson. Maybe sure but I think we just have too many holes right now to say for sure. I guess the bolded is my concern. I don't see us being able to absorb the draft and cap cost without crippling our chances going forward.

Now if Watson was a real possibility (legal stuff is resolved with no concerns) then maybe doing that for a 26 year old QB makes sense. Just don't think the older guys are worth it given the state of the team as is.

Omg, very young QB in his first year starting wasn't a finished product.  That's so craaaaaaazyyyyyy.

QB is still a rookie entering his 3rd year in the League.

Define qb hell.

It seems like the common feeling is that Hurts is good enough to keep us from getting a top draft pick, but not good enough to win a Super Bowl.

I am trying to find a comparable example of a team in this position, since I think it is somewhat of a made up idea that everyone on here has just assumed is true without thinking it though.

So give me an example of a team that had a terrible qb but who was never in a position to upgrade in the draft.

It doesn't matter - any defense of Hurts is immediately interpreted as an excuse. They don't recognize their opinion as such and they don't respect your opinion when it's different then theirs.

This is a hearty bubble they live in - I don't think you're going to pierce it.

But you know you've won when they start attacking you with straw men instead of substance.

I think they didn't want to pay Wilson a big extension in 2 years.  It wouldn't surprise me if they traded for Watson.

Are you me?

"Sometime before the championship game, Wentz voiced his displeasure with the Eagles’ success to a group of other injured players, sources with direct knowledge of the incident said. One of the players immediately confronted him and the two eventually had to be separated.”

All these people complaining about QB hell what were we supposed to do? Rodgers was never ever coming here 😂😂 I mean just stop. Wilson only would go to Denver. Jimmy G is a fing scrub. What were we "supposed” to do? Next year we have at least an opportunity to draft a real one outside of that I don’t get what we were supposed to do?
