Isn't this what we are debating, that if you don't have a top 5 qb, you can't win a Super Bowl?

Having a top 5 QB gives one a better chance of winning a super bowl.

Not having one doesn't exclude one from winning just makes it more difficult.

Having said that the definition of top 5 QB is up for debate

For instance No body would consider Nick foles a top 5 QB but for 2 games in the playoffs he played like one

Sometimes it's just a matter of playing top football at the right time

Howie & co went sniffing around every QB at the combine, so yeah, I do believe they will draft a QB.  I have a suspicion that if Malik WIllis is there at 19 he will be an Eagle.

Given the current QB landscape, I suspect that QBs will start to creep up the board.

The current Ravens team qualifies.

They will be able to draft a qb this year if they want.

Same as us.

Which  pushes better players at other positions further down the board for eagles to snatch up, hopefully.

No QB in this draft would be better than Lamar. But, Lamar isn't good enough to go deep in the playoffs, and every year that passes he gets more and more injured. They are in QB hell and there's no easy way out. We have Lamar Jr here, and thankfully we can move on from him easily.

Like you want to do with Hurts?

It says a player got in his face about it and they had to be separated. So I’m going to assume it was more along the lines of "I hate this team succeeding without me”

Yeah, that kind of begs that question a little bit.  Still, I'd like to know exactly what was said and who was the one that stood up to him.

Being able to draft a QB =/= getting out of QB purgatory

A 3rd round running QB who was drafted in the 2nd and has shown he's a 3rd round running qb?

Yeah.....we want to give up on him.

You know what I find funny, is that no one is doubting that the Eagles gave an offer to the Seahawks to get Russell Wilson (Wilson wanted to stay on the west coast). Literally a week ago Howie and nick said they have Jalen hurt so they have no need to make that move. And now there’s information coming out telling you their actions say that wasn’t necessarily true.

Willis is not lasting that long.

I think that's true, and I sincerely hope so.  We have bigger needs.

NFC is wide open with only Rodgers and Stafford in the way. So I agree they aren’t "just” a QB away, but if they did make a splash at QB and then added some players to D via free agency and renaming draft picks, they could easily compete for a NFCCG and possibly SB.

That’s it, every team has holes, but w/o a QB unless you have the 49’ers defense forget it.  The Bengals went from 4-12 to the SB, the NFL isn’t a 4 year rebuild league and can’t be with injuries, draft picks not working out and the salary cap.
The other issue is the Giants, they’ve been historically bad for the last 5 years, that isn’t likely to continue much longer, the Eagles have wasted enough time, wasting 2022 with Hurts and praying for a QB in the 2023 draft meaning they won’t compete till at least 2024 is not a good thing.

From a passing perspective....do you think he's closer to a new ball of clay or a harden rock?

The coaches son who grew up playing QB his whole life, started 56 games across two major College programs, and 20 NFL starts??

Raw. Very, very Raw. Basically silly puddy.

"Voicing displeasure" is pretty vague.  I'd like for actual people to come forward and put their name on this report.  "Voicing displeasure" could mean: "Man, I am bummed about not being part of these playoff wins" .  It could also mean "I hate winning playoff games without me playing" or "Nick Foles sucks, I hate him".

I'm not sure that any of those statements would surprise me.  It's been pretty clear to me for a while that most of Carson's problems are between his ears.

I don't think teammates would confront him because he said "I'm bummed about not being a part of these playoff wins".

Been many reports dating back to year 3 with the Eagles that don't put him in a good spotlight.

Seems like a good guy but maybe behind the scenes he's a total d**k.

We put a bid in on a house.  Got out-bid.  Now we get to celebrate that we are renting the same apartment.

More real estate analogies.

We are currently renting

Given that we really need an edge rusher, linebackers, safety, etc. I certainly hope so.

I don't think any of the QBs in this draft are worth high draft picks, TBH.

Minnesota:

5 year stretch of great defenses, 2015-2019

2015:  Bridgewater, 11-5, lost WC

2016:  Bradford, 8-8

2017:  Keenum 13-3, beat Saints 29-24, lost to Eagles 38-7

2018:  Cousins 8-7-1

2019:  Cousins 10-6, beat Saints 26-20, lost to 49ers 27-10

last two years, bottom five defensive teams, 7-9, 8-9

Raiders:

Carr has started for 8 seasons, during that period, Raider defense ranking (pts allowed), 32, 22, 20, 32, 24, 30, 26

They made the playoffs twice and lost the WC game both times, but I think blaming Carr is unfair given their putrid defense.

I am sure this has been covered, I am late to the blog today.

It seems to be quite clear that the Eagles did make an offer for Russell Wilson and he would not waive his no trade clause to go to Philly or Washington.

If this does not convince you that the team is not sold on Jalen Hurts and is actively seeking a starting QB for the 2022 season, I don't know what to tell you at this point.  They can give you all the lip service in the media, that is what they are supposed to do, but I will be 100% shocked if the Eagles do not have a new starting QB by the end of draft weekend, and I think it will happen before then.

You want to replace Lamar Jackson with Brady Quinn?

That would be better in your opinion, right?

It is better to have a really bad qb than a mediocre one, right?

This is your argument I am trying to wrap my head around, not mine.

The alleged downside of keeping Hurts is that he will put us in qb hell. I am just trying to figure out what that means.

So far it seems to mean that if a team doesn't win a Super Bowl (the Vikings), then they will never be in a position to draft a potentially better qb. But that seems illogical considering that they could have drafted a qb last year who was drafted by a guy who has won a ton of Super Bowls.

I guess I don't see a scenario where Hurts plays qb for us for 10 years, and over that span we are never in position to draft a qb who could potentially be better.

What were we supposed to do.... bend over backwards for the guy who led us to the #1 seed, got MVP votes in doing so and surround him with talent.

Zero doubt in my mind if we didnt miss on JJ, Dillars, Reagor, Pumprey, and then drafted Hurt's Wentz would still be here and this franchise would be completely different.

Given how bad Wentz is we all should be glad he’s not here. But amusing there are people thinking that would be an improvement. Glad we got rid of him and collected picks instead.

What it means is he is barely good enough to get you to .500, and put you in the 15th to 19th range in the draft, where you need to use multiple picks to trade up if you want a QB.  The Eagles have the resources now to get a QB, and that is exactly what they should do.

And if you think the team is sold on Hurts, you are kidding yourself.  Widely reported on social media this morning that the Eagles made a serious offer for Russ Wilson, and he would not waive his not trace clause.  The Eagles are QB hunting, the Eagles are not sold on Hurts, deal with it.
