Here is the story from a few pages ago.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27426397/carson-wentz-was-burdened-pain-here-how-left-behind

It was shortly after Wentz, in the middle of an MVP campaign, was lost for the season with a knee injury. It was a hard crash back down to Earth for the then-24-year-old, and it showed in the way he was carrying himself initially.

The scene unfolded on the treatment tables inside the training room, according to one source. The normally quiet Sproles, who was rehabbing from an ACL tear of his own, felt compelled to deliver a message to Wentz: Lift your chin up and put your focus on the team.

After all, there was still a championship on the line and a backup quarterback who needed support.

The exchange was described as non-adversarial by one witness, but it was tense enough to make people take notice and check on the players afterward.

"We actually helped each other in that time. We both wanted to be out there; we couldn't. But I had seen him down. So we had a good talk," Sproles says now, confirming a tough-love moment. "Because he was young and I didn't want to see him down. I didn't want to see that mess with him. I wanted to see him up, so I just felt like that was my time to get his spirits back up."

Wentz compartmentalized his disappointment and went on to embrace the role of being Foles' wingman. Wentz was so dedicated that he transferred whatever rehab he could from the trainers' room to the quarterback room -- his left leg fitted with portable modalities and compression devices so he could attend the early-morning meetings. He fought the medical staff to let him be on the sideline on game days, even though he was still on crutches. Eventually, they relented, under the following conditions: stay behind the ball, and if there's a turnover, get back to the bench.

Some of these fake ass Eagles "fans" are going to be exposed next season when they are low key rooting for and defending a div rival QB.

I like Wentz and always did, unfortunately he just doesn't play that well anymore. But there's no part of me that can root for him on a division rival.

I doubt it.  I think the vast majority will observe and call it as they see it.  Washington has acquired a QB that is unquestionably better than what they had, so they've improved.  It's doubtful Wentz is good enough anymore to get them to a deep playoff run, but they recognized they needed a competent starting QB and addressed it.  I haven't seen final details on what they gave up to acquire him to judge if they overpaid or not.

Eagles fans will still be unanimous in cheering for the Eagles to beat WAS.  Most Eagles fans are just hopeful Howie will get the Eagles an upgrade at QB as well.

Leo had better 3cone and shuttle than any backer at combine .

Why?  When did drafting a center in the first round ever become normal?

I'm starting to get..."draft Darren Sproles' replacement" vibes with Kelce and the center position from a large portion of the fan base.  And it's dumb.

We don't need a top flight AP(HOF) center to win games in this league.  We do need a lot more.  DE, DE, QB, Safety, Corner, WR, LB, LB, RB, DT, G...…..

He's essentially a Kelce clone. Not saying I'd be a fan of the move, just that it would definitely be one the Birds will consider, as he may be BPA on their board at 16 or 19.

I like how memes have become the way for people to avoid defending their beliefs.

Or coming up with nicknames like Hurts Squirters.

Nice company you keep.

I've never used the HS phrase.

I have and will continue to point out where certain fans are not properly acknowledging Hurts' limitations.

My belief is that he isn't good enough to win us a title and there is a lot of statistical evidence to support my position.

Having said that, I would seriously enjoy him proving me wrong.

Kid's a stud and instantly our best LB...though that's not saying much. We better get one of: Dean, Lloyd, Muma, Chenal, Smith, Beavers.

And if his defense could of stopped a high school team they would of beat the Tennessee, Tampa and Baltimore

Jaguars also only scored more then 21 points 1 time, against the colts

At the end of the day youre the typical scorned lover and wentz hurt your feelings.

You forgot the part where the Colts scored 11, and Jags averaged was 26.9ppg allowed.

Wonder why you forgot that part.

No dude that is on his 3rd team is 3 years is good. Dude is a mental midget

I share this belief. If he makes a big step forward in 2022, I'd be ecstatic.

I wanted him to stay. But after this year I was relieved it was all finally over and all of us could be friends again now that the drama was over. Now we play him twice a year. Sigh

LMAO!! Two thirds is a way better deal than I thought it would be.

Glad he can destroy Washington now. Usually I wouldn’t like playing a former player twice a year but I can honestly say with this bum I look forward to it.

Breer: "Look for Washington to draft a QB in the 1st round."

Wentz is their designated seat warmer for their future rookie QB.

Colts gave up too quickly. This sucks. Hopefully he plays like 2020 for his entire tenure with the Skins

Justin Terry had some nice explosion numbers

I thought that might be the case, considering they traded a few Milk Duds and a Jolly Rancher for him.

BREAKING NEWS:

Eagles trade #15, #16, Jalen Hurts, JJAW, Reagor, Dillard, Swoop, a $100k gift card to Five Guys for Andy, and Jim Kenney to Kansas City for Patrick Mahomes. One condition is he must divorce his wife, and his brother is not allowed to enter the state of PA.

Again.....Donnel Pumphrey was the next "Darren Sproles".  Obviously the rounds and talent level are different.  But you don't build a team focusing on replacing or getting "clones" of current out outgoing players.  It's not a premium position.  Hard pass.

Again, not saying I disagree. Just saying he may very well be BPA for them already, and that if Kelce sadly calls it a career, they will definitely consider it.

these are the comments that are head scatching. It's like people dont actually watch or know the game they just take hot takes from talking heads and run with it.

He was 23rd in turnovers last year lol.

The Colts were 27th in attempts. He’s also fumbled 66 times in 85 games.

How does this suck? I think the Colts fleeced Washington and Wentz will punish them by being himself.

Too bad this will only last one year but I will enjoy this unforseen gift.
