"This has nothing to do with the Jacksonville game,’’ the source said. "That was just a symptom of a problem that started in the spring. This is what’s best for the Colts going forward in 2022.’’

That’s the first indication there was a problem with Wentz almost from the outset.

It’s believed those issues involved a complete lack of leadership, which is the overriding prerequisite for a quarterback, and resisting coaching advice. An inability to handle criticism or self-evaluate also were contributing factors.

Watson wants out of the Texans due to the disfunction and issues he has with the FO.  He obviously does not want to be traded to a similar situation in Philadelphia.

The Eagles are not dysfunctional. Comparing them to the Texans is laughable. The issues the Eagles FO has is no different than issues every FO in the league deals with. Minor stuff here and there. Communication issues, etc. If the Eagles are so dysfunctional, why do teams keep hiring guys from our FO? Watson wants out because Jack Easterby is a nutjob and bringing weird religious cult crap into the organization. And they haven't been able to protect him since he's been drafted.

The Eagles aren't even remotely in the same universe of dysfunction as the Texans and all the teams reported to be interested except maybe Tampa, the Eagles are a more stable organization.

Mike Vick got it too.

Vick came to Philly because Reid and McNabb vouched for him.

Just now, Texas Eagle said:

Bold: What evidence is there of him not?

Underline: Umm....what?

Do you have evidence that he is? The guy was pouted and tried to push his way out of Houston as soon as things went bad. He is only still there because as soon as he did, the lawsuit happened.

Philly will tolerate Watson especially if he is winning until he throws that first interception against Dallas or loses that game. The next thing that will happen is there will be hours of sports radio asking if the Eagles made a mistake, if he needs 'massages' to play better, how terrible he is, etc.

The lawsuits and the talk about him will never go away, especially in a place like Philly, which will prop it up and place it front and center every single time he makes a wrong move. I am not saying that is wrong, but we have to be honest about what it is like to play QB in Philadelphia. It is not easy, especially compared to a place like Carolina.

Carson is stubborn and has little to no self-accountability.

All teams change general managers now and again. It's part of the nature of sports.

You are putting way too much stock in that statement. One interception, or a regular season loss to Cowboys are some of the last things that would come to mind for Philly turning on him.

Breaking news:

Eagles trade Doug Pederson's visor collection he left behind, JJAW, Reagor, Nick Foles old jockstrap and #19 to the Buccaneers for the rights to Tom Brady.

Foles' jock strap > Brady

From that Athletic article from Keefer…

"The Commanders originally came in offering a fourth-rounder and a sixth-rounder, and talks intensified Tuesday after Washington missed out on Russell Wilson. Washington will assume all of Wentz’s 2022 salary — roughly $28 million — letting the Colts off the hook for the $15 million they owed him even if they cut him.”

Great negotiating by Washington. Completely let the Colts off the hook.

The Panthers are way more attractive then the Eagles especially with a fan base that doesn't care.

After the lawsuit settles, why would he want to go to a place where that would be the topic on every newspaper, sports radio, bar down the street, etc? Do you think he is mentally tough enough to handle all the nonsense that would be thrown on him, especially the first time he throws an interception against Dallas?

He would want to go to a place where there would be some noise about it for a week or two and then it would completely go away.

That would never happen in Philly.

There's no team he can go to where it'll just go away

Trust your instincts.  Lowie is hurting this team.  This is still the FO who sits at press conferences with Nick and gleams over him talking about RPS and mini basketball.  Our GM sits at every presser with him.  Our owner is in person, watching practice in New Balances and short shorts.  He's only missing a whistle.

Other teams and players see this.  We aren't a good franchise right now.

The butler has the whistle.

They are no longer in an elite place as an organization, but they're still plenty good. They hired the only rookie head coach who made the playoffs. They managed to dump a massive Wentz problem for a 1st round pick and fleece a really good GM for him. The Eagles are bad at drafting. That accounts for like 95% of their problems. Everything else, the ancillary stuff like the FO sitting at press conferences, no one in the league gives a crap about that stuff.

I think it's overstated because the division is terrible, but they have made the playoffs 4 of 5 years. Bad organizations don't do that.

And if he doesn't, you instantly have a top tier QB in a wide open conference. Look, I get it. Dude's scummy as hell. But, provided there are no criminal charges hanging over him, and he can be had on a discount, I'd be all over it. He's only 27 and is a top 10 QB overall. Probably #2 in the NFC.

He lost a season of play due to erratic behavior that started with a trade demand.  I don't think this will be past him even if the civil suits settle and there are no criminal charges.  The League may very well discipline him and will face pressure to suspend him.  He's as likely to play in 2022 as not. He's definitely not going to play if the civil suits are pending.  I think there's a good chance the League gives him a 10 to full season suspension.   I have not seen him do anything or seen anything from his side that makes me think he's remorseful.  I think he's probably resentful and even if he assaulted these women doesn't believe he did.  I think there's a very good chance he does something else that would cost him playing time.  It's not stable behavior.  The team could very well be trading for a QB that will be 29 and out of the League for 2 seasons before he starts again.  Then he does something else and never plays again.

One of the things some reporter said is that they were mad at him for not getting vaccinated.

A fourth and a sixth was a good offer. Bit much for a QB like Wentz, but the fourth is bad enough to try that gamble for a year after missing out on your first choice.

Swapping seconds plus two thirds is way too much though. Which is ideal, division rival paying too much for a really poor QB.

Not dysfunctional?  We have a guy running the entire show who hired a coach, lost power to that coach, then used his influence with the owner to get that coach fired.  Hired another coach, coach won the Super Bowl then 3 years gets fired the first time he missed the playoffs since the Super Bowl.  All sorts of reports over the GM getting too involved and rubbing that coach the wrong way.  Same GM signs young QB to huge new deal then the next season drafts a QB in the second round.  The young QB can't stand the GM and does not want to play on the team anymore because of him and forces his way out.

Howie Roseman is not a GM that Watson would want to come and play for.  Watson wants out because he wanted influence in the Texans decision making on their roster and coaching hires.  He didn't get that so he wanted out.

You seem to be existing with a certain level of delusion surrounding the Eagles.  Yesterday you weren't able to accept the reality that Wilson didn't want to come to the Eagles and came up with this scenario that didn't make any sense where if the Eagles offered 10 first round picks that the Seahawks would have then convinced Russell to waive his no trade clause.

There are teams where it wouldn't be on every morning sports radio show, every other article written, etc.

Wentz is one year removed and he is still talked about.

I think you guys serious underestimate how much of a powder keg it can be playing here.

Who the hell were they negotiating against? Taking on that salary plus a guarantee in 2023 mins s asinine. They did the Colts a favor by trading for him, and that’s before a single pick was involved. Just awful.

I do wonder what Doug thinks of Wentz flaming out after going to an environment that was going to get the most out of him.

Making the playoffs was smoke and mirrors.  It’s not enough to pump Hurts’ value up and it shouldn’t be enough to do the same for NS.  Crap competition in a crap division.  Seriously lucky.

And yes.  It’s over stated.   Bad organizations make the playoffs in bad divisions.  No doubt.  There has been a steady decline and now we find ourselves looking for a QB, Tom of defensive play makers and wide receivers…….STILL.  That’s not good.

Texans made the playoffs 4 out of 5 years with BOB at HC.  2015-2019.  Maybe bad organizations can make the playoffs 4 out of 5 years.
