Who has said that?

And, again, based on what? Your gut feeling? Because the stats don't support that he's better than average.

He's not better than average.  That would mean top 10-12 in the league.  No way.

In the current QB landscape, he is in the middle 10.  That's average.

What are cap implications of trading Fletcher Cox?

Wentz has a higher upside than Hurts- I will agree to that. We just may never see it again, but he has shown he has played at a much higher level than Hurts has ever shown. Hurts has never even shown flashes of what Wentz did in his second year alone.  Wentz may never get back to that...

Right now the floors on Hurts and Wentz are about the same.

I don't think there's any debate to be had regarding Wentz vs Hurts. Wentz is absolutely better. But it's all comparative. I think you could take a kid from a pop warner team and he'd be better than Hurts. It's such a low bar.

Wentz doesn't have some untapped potential at this point, IMO. He is what he is. He'll limit INTs (he always has, outside of 2020), but the few he does throw come at back breaking times.

Top 10 in Touchdowns isnt average. bottom 5 in interceptions isnt average. top 10 in QBR, and he flirted with top 10 on his QB Rating(think it's 11th when you through out those who dont reach the minimums.

again, I dont think Wentz is a HOF, I dont think he's gonna be an ALL pro. I think he's a good QB. I think he's better than Hurts, I stand by my comment that the Eagles made a mistake and the Redskins upgraded over Heincke

He was 9 in QBR.  Ahead of Dak, Wilson, Burrow, and Jackson.  He isn't better than them.

Again, he is somewhere in the middle.  Ahead of the dreck and too-early-to-tell.

Completely disagree.  He had one bad year.  A few decent ones.  A few average ones.  And one great one...that was cut short due to injury.  But the notion that he had bad yearS is inaccurate.

Put Hurts in this offense with the crap Wentz had to throw to in 2019.  We win 5 games.

I'm not debating Hurts vs Wentz, there's nothing to discuss there.

Wentz rookie year was bad I'd argue. 16 TDs to 14 INTs is bad. But, as a rookie year, it can be forgiven.

2017 obviously a fantastic year.

2018 is better than I thought at first glance. And he had the busted back and absolute trash at WR, so fair enough, I'd say an average year. 2019 was a good year.

2020 was historically bad, and 2021 was average.

He was 10th in TDs, and just ahead of Wilson and Murray who missed time. Cousins was ahead of Wentz with 33 TDs....do you think Cousins is better/worse than Wentz?

I'm definitely trading Fletch if someone is offering a Day 2 pick

100 percent.

If they can get out from under that contract for a 2 or 3, I think that’s a no brainer. Milton starts with Hargrave, and you go hard for Davis/Wyatt/Winfrey/Jones in the draft.

Thats not what you said. You told me his stats say he was average. Stop changing the argument.

His stats tell you he's a top 10 QB(which isnt true).

He is average, my position hasn't changed. How about his 209 yards per game? Which puts him 26th in the league. What does that tell you? Maybe that he was a game manager, considering Taylor had an unreal year running the ball.

Rookie season with a Rookie HC with those numbers is basically a wash.  He showed glimpses.  We expect too much from rookie QB's now.

Hurts was basically a rookie last year 🙂 and he had similar numbers.  But he didn't show the glimpses and raw talent that Wentz did.  I would exclude the rookie season.  But if you're comparing it up against expectations...I think it was a success.

Lol, Hurts is complete trash, you won't get an argument from me there.

The Cox thing is really interesting.  His contract is so confusing and as I understand it, trading him now would incur a $25 million cap hit which we really don't have an obvious means of absorbing.  On the other hand, his base salary is only $1 million which has to boost his trade value big time.

Or incomplete like most of his throws.

Nah, that's too far.  He's not good enough to build around, but he's not complete trash.

Is it possible to rework his Salary/contract to make it less cap hit and then maybe throw him an incentive to leave/

I don't think so.  Which would make you think this is a post June 1 trade but, if so, you wouldn't normally see rumors from people like Rapoport about it now and obviously the draft compensation wouldn't be until 2023 (which is fine with me).

Which is why he is the worst QB option.  Not good enough to take us anywhere, not bad enough to take us to the top of the draft.

He has an option bonus from the restructure that isn’t due until September. Interesting trend is happening in the NFL right now. Both Wentz and Mack had the receiving team take on their whole contract. I bet the same happens with Cox.

So basically buying a day 2 pick for 25 Million dollars.

Seems steep

Not exactly.  He's getting that money one way or the other so it's more like a day 2 pick for feeling all of the pain now.

Yeah, I keep forgetting how awful that reworked deal was.

This suggests you can designate a trade post June 1 so really not sure.  We will always have some dead cap due to the void years spillover but after last season, I had Cox and Brooks as the last remaining anchor contracts to get off of so it would be nice to have the books cleared (even if we will feel the effects for a couple years).

Other than Ridley, it sounds like all other WR names linked to the eagles are mainly slot WRs.
