They are not negotiating from a position of strength.  He wants out, the league knows he wants out, the Texans are not holding good cards.  He will be traded for less than you expect.

If it's the Eagles I hope so.  Don't want him but Howie is trying

I don't think Cox fetches more than a 3rd or 4th round pick at this point in his career.  Wouldn't move the needle much

I’m guessing dillard would have some appeal to them if the rumors are true they are trying to also unload cooks and tunsil.

I do, too.

I'm not giving the Watson stuff much thought until I see a reputable report that he'd waive his no-trade clause to go to Philly.  Most of what I've read says he's said No more than once already

Carolina Panthers 2022 NFL Draft Picks

  • Round 1 (Pick 6)
  • Round 4 (Pick 107 from Texans)
  • Round 5 (Pick 144 from Jaguars)
  • Round 5 (Pick 149)
  • Round 6 (Pick 198 from Raiders)
  • Round 7 (Pick 245 from Titans)

They can obviously add 1sts and 2nds next year and the following but Howie can beat any offer they have if Watson green lights a trade to Philly.

Knowing the Texans they will probably demand Reagor as the make or break add in

Not a guarantee he gets suspended and that’s why any trade package will contain conditional picks

There's 22 civil cases. He's getting suspended I think

Exempt list for what? He now has no pending criminal charges. Only civil. Unlikely to get put on that list for that...

You're correct. I thought it was for criminal or civil. Basically I thought it was for anything the league felt was violating the personal conduct policy

Goodell has yet to act on the Watson case in regard to the exempt list’s three criteria: 1) a player must be charged with a felony offense or a crime of violence, 2) an NFL investigation must lead Goodell "to believe that a player may have violated” the league’s personal conduct policy, and 3) Goodell has the flexibility to temporarily place a player on the exempt list when "a crime of violence is alleged but further investigation is required.”

I think Howie wouldnt put all that work into him and would just say "no we aren’t trading for him” just once If they were completely out because of the no trade clause

Oh i don’t think he comes here. I think the eagles going to try and it’s not going to work. In the hypothetical trade package I’m guessing they’d be accepting of dillard.

Idk. He said she said with a good lawyer now that criminal charges are out of the picture. Could be right but not a sure suspension.

They could give them pick 6, next year 1, and Christian McCaffrey

They don't need an enforcer ??

And this is really the main point. So far he doesn't want to come here and if the Panthers  are in, then I don't think there's a chance.

Ya. Going by that he wont be exempt listed. My guess is 6 games max for the personal conduct policy.

McCaffrey would be part of their plans if they trade for Watson I would guess. Chuba Hubbard isn’t exactly a starting RB just yet.

And a grand jury could not find one thing to charge him with.

For the Watson crowd.

Im ready to get our QB. I feel we have a roster who can make a legitimate playoff run with a QB. Im not saying super bowl contender yet. But I dont think theyd be a wild card pretender either.

Also his salary and roster bonus for 2023 become guaranteed on March 20th, so the Texans will take a huge hit in 2023 if they try to move him after that date (I think). It makes a lot more sense to move him now for whatever they can get.

Question for the blog, do you think Deshaun Watson would fetch more in a trade than Russel Wilson ???????

The Eagles picks this year are worth more than a Carolina 2023 pick, because that pick will be low if they get Watson. The Eagles have a major pick advantage.

I suspect all teams involved will be allowed to sit down or at least talk with Watson and his camp to feel each other out. This is a lot different than trading for Wilson with all the PR and legal stuff involved.

100%

That’s why JJAW is off limits

Yes

Goodell will still suspend him I think. Not saying a whole year, maybe 4-8 games. In that range. Just my guess
