McCaffrey would be part of their plans if they trade for Watson I would guess. Chuba Hubbard isn’t exactly a starting RB just yet.

Id say that as well but then again he’s played 10 games in 2 years so who knows if he stays healthy enough anymore.

Also his salary and roster bonus for 2023 become guaranteed on March 20th, so the Texans will take a huge hit in 2023 if they try to move him after that date (I think). It makes a lot more sense to move him now for whatever they can get.

That doesn’t do anything to them. Guarantees would move to the new team

And a grand jury could not find one thing to charge him with.

That's pretty standard in this case though, it being a he said, she said. A DA isn't going to file charges without substantial evidence, the time and money a criminal trial costs is significant.

If the NFL finds there's enough cause to suspend with overwhelming accusations, they will likely suspend him.

C Mac is never healthy and makes a boat load , he’s really not all that good of a trade piece

Question for the blog, do you think Deshaun Watson would fetch more in a trade than Russel Wilson ???????

Nope, a little less.

Im ready to get our QB. I feel we have a roster who can make a legitimate playoff run with a QB. Im not saying super bowl contender yet. But I dont think theyd be a wild card pretender either.

The nfc being as bad as it is with watson you could make the argument the eagles or Carolina if they acquired him would have the 2nd or 3rd best QB. Arguably the best long term situation at QB in the nfc.

Ok fair enough. If they don't move him it's still a lot of money to carry for a player who said he won't ever play for them again.

It wasn’t even a he said/she said. It was all she said today

They could give them pick 6, next year 1, and Christian McCaffrey

Not enough.

He threw for almost 5000yds in 2020 with BoB as the HC when the team went 4-12

I have no idea. He should. But then you can argue his pending suspension might decrease value some.

Id give Hurts, Dillard, and Cox to bring down the draft pick cost. Even Sanders if they want.

There will probably be teams who offer more than who ever lands Watson , he just won’t sign off on the trade .

Thought I saw a report from someone that he would waive it for Eagles? Was that ever confirmed or denied?

well thats not good. We need to know if we are making that move before we start making free agent deals.

Hurry Howie hurry!!!

Might be my ignorance but are teams allowed to be in contact with a player before they trade for him?

So does every other team though

Depends how many teams he waives his no-trade clause for -- that dictates the market.  If it's only CAR, less.  If it's CAR and TB, probably still less.

If he puts out a list of 5 teams like Russell Wilson did, the trade package will be bigger.  SEA, PIT, MIN, CLE, PHI could all also be making offers.

Deshaun Watson, though, doesn't care at all what the Texans recoup.  That's why I think his list will only be 2-3 teams.

Don’t think he can until Monday at like 4pm

So for Russ and a 2022 4th, the Broncos gave up

2022 1st, 2nd and 5th, 2023 1st and 2nd, Shelby Harris, Drew Lock and Noah Fant.

So, we could give up

2022 1st ( 15th ) and 5th ( we have a couple ), 2023 1st, other conditional 2023 picks, Jalen Hurts, Andre Dillard and Jalen Reagor.

That leaves you with 16, 19, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th and 6th in 2022, and you can trade back from 19 and acquire 2023 picks for a team desperate to get up for a QB.

You can also get a pick for Fletcher Cox.

If Texans gave permission, sure

The Eagles picks this year are worth more than a Carolina 2023 pick, because that pick will be low if they get Watson. The Eagles have a major pick advantage.

I suspect all teams involved will be allowed to sit down or at least talk with Watson and his camp to feel each other out. This is a lot different than trading for Wilson with all the PR and legal stuff involved.

Just pointing out Carolina is picking 6th. Our 19th and 15th combined on the draft value chart is a combine 1925. The 6th pick alone is 1600 so I’m guessing giving them a 2nd as well in 2023 as they don’t have one in 2022 draft. So the 2023 pick Carolina or eagles makes no difference as both with him is likely low. So if it was just on the Texans would they rather be picking 6th with the panthers pick and a 2023 first along with other picks or 15th, 19th and the eagles 2023 first? I’m guessing on how they view their board in this draft and think at 6 there’s a blue chip player whereas at 15 maybe there isn’t

This doesn’t include the fact watson has a NTC and nothing indicates he’d drop it here as of right now.

What team will do that when FA is around the corner?  It's a tough ask, especially for a team like the Eagles with limited cap room this year.  Do you lose out on targets esp if you aren't 100% sure Watson will come?  Bit of a chicken and egg things from Watson there
