Hurts is a very fine backup on a rookie contract. Minshew's value is maxed out. Everyone knows what he is by now. IF by any chance Hurts continues to improve (even while a backup) with more years in the league, more pre-season and backup reps.... you can still potentially trade him for decent value down the line.

Id love it if Houston valued Minshew higher than Hurts. 

Minshew is a better backup for Watson being a passer and all.  Hurts should stay if we were trading for Lamar.

It is somewhere on his Twitter timeline and he has a ton of tweets today and I’m not wasting my time finding it for him. Furthermore he also had tweets from midseason saying watson would likely approve if a deal got done but Carolina at that point didn’t want too.

Im just thinking about it from the standpoint of future trade value. Theres potential for trading Hurts for higher value. Minshew is pretty much a late round pick guy at this point.

aaron wilson covered the Texans and the league for years. But apparently that doesn’t matter.

All you need is for him to look good in a few preseason games and people will think theres major untapped potential there. A guy with starting experience and playoff experience who got stuck on the bench when the eagles traded for Watson, looks good in the pre-season teams will think they have a diamond in the rough here.

Just saying mccaffrey has played 10 games in 2 years due to injuries. Some of you think this is Cmc from 3 years ago. He might very well never be cmc of the past.

One guy has potential to bring a better return. The other doesnt.

I hate having Hurts as our starting QB. But hes not a guy that we need off the roster completely. Hes by all accounts and appearance, a great guy to have around. 

If Houston was offered Hurts and counters with Minshew I think thats a win for us.

Id bet theres a whole bunch. Its not just fans. There are some media people, even former players who think he just needs a chance to grow more. Itd be naive to think there are no coaches and scouts that think they can still work with him. 

And even if he becomes the backup to Watson, maybe he does still make some improvements over time. If the next time we see him, is as a backup in pre-season games and he dominates some 2nd and 3rd teamers in limited action with a few accurate passes and makes plays with his legs teams are going to think hes worth something to get another shot at starting.

So if it’s mostly lucky then why wouldn’t be be ok trading for a proven top 10 QB at 26 as it is mostly luck and we might not be so lucky to get that type of player.
