I know it's a sign I'm getting old and crotchety, but I really get annoyed at the "player X added/removed Y from their social media" stuff that happens nowadays.

It's a wonderful game they play now.  I just keep a bucket of popcorn nearby and watch everyone try to read the tea leaves... ever swirling, never logical.  It's wonderful.

Doubt they wanted to trade him in the division....but they could have topped that for sure. Offer the Browns a 4th and a 5th.

we would have taken his big cap hit as well.

The Zeke contract has really screwed the cowboys over. I love it.

Interesting view on what the percentages become if dealing for watson for every team mentioned

Can Reub slob over Hurts any more than he does at the end of this?

3. Remember, just because Howie Roseman has been exploring all possible options at quarterback doesn’t mean the Eagles don’t believe Jalen Hurts can take major strides in 2022 and be a very good NFL starting quarterback. Both can be true. But Roseman wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t try to upgrade every position, and if that means going after Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson or even Aaron Rodgers, good for him for trying to add a quarterback who’s already elite to the roster. Let’s be honest, this was already a playoff team in Nick Sirianni’s first year as head coach, and a Hall of Fame quarterback would make the Eagles an immediate threat. Wilson is now a Bronco, Rodgers isn’t going anywhere after signing a new contract, and Watson is a longshot to come to Philly, but good for Howie for at least trying to land an elite QB. And fortunately – unlike some quarterbacks we’ve seen around here recently – Hurts has enough inner strength and confidence not to take it personally and to understand that this is a business and Roseman owes it to the franchise to do everything possible to improve the team. And if Hurts winds up being the guy, which is likely, he’ll continue working as hard as possible to improve his game. It’s possible to value Hurts and appreciate his potential while still trying to find someone better.

Having the media speculate all week that they were going to cut him probably didn‘t help either..

It’s just so much to give up to get Watson , it would take years to get over all the draft picks  traded away . If he is smart he will choose a team with weapons and OL , and quality D .

One more gem from Reub...over 3 games, Hurts passed for 3 TDs.  Pretty sure 1 TD a game is pretty poor.

8. Here’s one for the "He can’t throw the ball” crowd: In the three regular-season games Jalen Hurts played after suffering the ankle injury that required surgery, he completed 67 percent of his passes [54-for-81] for 709 yards with three TDs, one INT and two rushing TDs, and his 101.3 passer rating was 7th-highest in the NFL during that span. And the one interception was a ball Dallas Goedert dropped and then kicked to Landon Collins. And the Eagles won all three games, averaging 27 points. After averaging 58 rushing yards per game before the injury, he was limited to only 29 per game after the injury and threw 27 times per game. That's efficiency and production in the passing game without being able to move in the pocket like he's used to. And that's encouraging.

Per Wilson’s sources eagles moving on

I would hardly call that slobbing over Hurtz?

Anything that isn't negative about Hurts is slobbering over him.

I dont think so.

"Eagles moving on" sounds like they have currently been actively involved and decided to end their pursuit. However the article words it differently. It doesnt even list them as a team who has inquired since the legal ruling. Instead it says the eagles and 49ers were teams that had interest in the past year, but moved on. It implies that neither team has had any recent interest.

I really doubt that the eagles have not inquired again since the ruling on Friday. As eagles fans knowing how this front office works, we know better.

This guy either has a poor source, or he is following Howie's command and keeping it quiet as we know the eagles always do.

‚The Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers were interested in Watson over the past year before moving on, per sources.‘

Sounds good.

Howie inquires about everyone, that's his job.

It's not just about being interested in people, it's about gathering information and getting an idea what his competitors are doing for future reference.

Its the sort of due diligence you'd expect from a competent GM.

One never knows when you'll get the phone call, and you want your ducks lined up in case you have to make a quick decision.

Wilson has been saying the Eagles moved on a while ago. He said at the trade deadline during the season the Eagles have moved on. Albert Breer said in his combine column that Eagles and Panthers are most interested in Watson. As have others.

Doesn't mean the Eagles will get him, but don't think Wilson is right here. Wilson also reported multiple times last year a Watson trade was "imminent and could go down any hour now" when it never was and never was going to be until the legal stuff was resolved.

Frankly there’s multiple people (another local reporter yesterday that’s new on the beat. I believe from temple) saying they are out/cooled on watson and others saying they are still really engaged. So it’s who knows. I tend to believe if the eagles moved on or are out it’s cause they talked to Watson’s reps and they made it clear he wouldn’t drop his NTC. Otherwise I’d still think they’d be in it.
