I think he’s going to get traded. Was very out of nowhere for Ian to bring up Cox in trade scenarios.

Idk looking at his contract on over the cap of if it is pre June 1st trade it’s a ton of dead money and cap space

Rookies don't turn a team quickly.

Depends what you mean by "quickly." Rookies usually make their impact in their 2nd and 3rd seasons, so if the Eagles hit on 4 or 5 picks in this draft, they're positioned for a big push in 2023.

I like Watson, but he isn't top 5. Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Rodgers, and Wilson are better. You can debate Lamar, Burrow, Stafford, Prescott.

I don’t disagree with your top 5. I’d put burrow ahead of him. I’d take watson over lamar, Stafford and Dak. I can understand the debate after Stafford won a SB. Either way if you are an nfc team and you acquire Watson, I’d argue in 3 years good Chance he could be the best QB in the conference and top 3 right now in the conference

Watson > any NFC QB that isn't Rodgers.

That is both interesting and a bit scary.  Don't really want Watson.

Sorry. Meant it as a joke since last year they purposely didn’t include him on anything promotional and people love to post old news and the whole Hurts deleted bio stuff.

It was a very obvious "up your offers” tweet

If they are smart they use all 3 of those picks to build the team....even if that means trading back with one. Build the team, fill the holes, then trade a few picks like the Rams did. Honestly, I still think Strong can be a good QB in the NFL. Trading all these picks for Watson won't fix the DL, LB, S, CB, or WR.

That’s not what the Rams did. They traded two 1sts, two 2nds and two thirds just for Goff. Then they traded other picks to build the roster. Then traded more for a QB like Stafford. Rams "building the team first” is such a misconception.

For the "Watson was 4-12 last season, how good is he?!" crowd:

Why are you ignoring that he was 21-10 the previous 2 seasons?

For the "Watson is 1-2 in the playoffs" crowd:

Why are you ignoring that in one of those games that he lost, he put up 31 points on the road, with just under 400 passing yards and 2 TDs. His defense gave up 51. That's his fault?

I am not suggesting we mortgage the future and send six picks to Houston for him, but you are Fing high if you don't think he's a clear, massive upgrade and at the very least a top 10 (though I'd argue higher) QB in this league.

You want a real laugh, compare his first full season to what Hurts did.

I dont think cox gets traded but the chargers have been rumored. Imagine having Joey bosa, Mack and Cox rushing the passer. Geez

Maybe they could somehow get Derwin James!

Rookie build a team though.

I knew it was a joke, hence the "again?".

That would be something.

I am for sure not saying we should trade for Watson. I would rather keep all the picks and perhaps use one on Pickett.

BUT

I don't look at it as giving up 3 first rounders anymore. I think of it as giving up

(1) First Rounder

Wentz

Smith over Waddle

When you think of it in those terms it will make it look better, lol.

Sure, we could think of it as trading away the equivalent of Reagor, Dillard and Barnett as well.

But it still wouldn't make me feel better about it.

Agree.  By quickly I meant year they are drafted.

Wilson isn't better and none off the other guys that you said you can debate.

So he's #5 on your list.

Maybe Burrow can be better. Let's see another year out of him. Watson is far more accurate than Allen. He's just not the runner Allen is. He belongs in that conversation.

You mean his garbage point game?

He started that game with a 75 yard drive (basically a 54 yard pass), a blocked punt for a TD, then got the ball on the 6 yard line off a muffed punt and scored a TD, then a 38 yard drive for a FG.  After that, Watson was MIA until KC scored 6 TDs and were up 41-24 late 3rd Q.  Then the Houston offense put up 209 yards and a TD against a soft prevent.

Watson went 11-5 against an extremely weak schedule, SOS -1.53. Put up 7 points his first PO game, dinking and dunking, 29/49 235 1-1.

Then 10-6 against a better schedule his third season.

He's a good QB, but he's not an elite QB.

I wonder what the people clamoring for Watson will think when he mentally checks out on the Eagles after one season.

You could look at it that way but how can you not look at it as Watson OR the 3 players you are deciding not to get?
