Spotrac lists the Saints as only $7M over the cap for their top 51 players and, unlike the Eagles last season, they have many players that can be cut or restructured to create more space.  Freeing up $25-30M can be done very easily.

I like them both, Marcus more, but considering we have so many needs, I'd go for the cheaper route in Reid so you have more money for others...

They need a veteran receiver.  Chark if they truly want "positionless" /Kirk if they don't.

They hate picking LB & S high.........if Gannon doesn't change their minds a Strong play for Campbell or a couple of Reid-Williams + make a ton of sense.

Not thrilled with the DE on sale-would rather attack in the draft there.  Watching RB 1-there are some interesting options but they generally want to grow their own in the mid-rounds.

However, what we have been talking about is what we think Houston would value more in a trade: 3 1st round picks in a singular draft or spreading those picks out over 2-3 drafts.  I think there is more value spreading them out.  You think there is more value in a singular draft.  So be it.  In my opinion, Houston would rather have multiple picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the 2022, 2023, maybe 2024 drafts than 4 1st round picks (our three plus their own) in the 2022 draft.

 

 

 

If you are spreading picks over 3 drafts instead of using the 3 picks in this years draft as part of the trade then what exactly is the reason that Houston takes the three picks spread across 3 drafts from the Eagles instead of the Panthers?  It's astounding to me how you are unable to comprehend how the Eagles having 3 picks in this years draft is a trade asset that no other team can match.  That is their leverage in trying to beat out any other team's trade proposal.

Yeah I'm not really believing much of anything until he's signed somewhere. Easy for the Saints and Panthers to broadcast their pursuit without any real QB on the roster. Gotta imagine there are quite a few teams who are sniffing around but being quiet about it or even downplaying their interest

I don't think he's coming here FWIW. Just too much gamesmanship going on right now to take much at face value.

At the time he was a solid pick but as a player he was a disappointment.

Not necessarily.  You are reading tea leaves and drawing a conclusion based on your bias that the FO is bad.   It is just as possible that they investigated and from what they found out, regardless of whether or not the grand jury thought it warranted charges, decided to not pursue it further.  It's possible that the Eagles backed out, rather than Watson being the one to make that decision.  And it could have been a mutual thing where both parties don't want any part of each other.  It doesn't have to be bad for Lowie... and you know that I am far from a Howie defender.
