Hmmm ok, where does he play. Not good vs the run nor pass...

Reddick has 23.5 sacks in the past 2 years. He's objectively a good pass-rusher.

Where are the playing him ??  6'1" 235 pound at DE is not gonna get it done.

7. HAASON REDDICK

PFF Free Agency Rank: 31
2021 Snaps: 852
2021 PFF grade: 67.9 (43rd of 109)

Reddick has successfully made the transition from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher — it’s now just a question of how high his ceiling can be. He is a bit undersized as a full-time outside linebacker at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, but he has a knack for bringing the quarterback down and has racked up 28 sacks since 2020 — the fourth-most among edge rushers. He is also able to set the edge moderately well in run defense, earning a 70.4 grade for the 2021 season.

Projected contract: 3 yrs — $11.67m avg/yr

That's why smart teams wait out the first day or two of free agency, driven by teams out of the playoffs with too much cap room and GMs worried that another losing season will cost them their jobs - why worry about 3 years from now when you won't be around if you don't win now.

Who wants to tell him?

Good signing

Meh. Didn’t think we’d pay market value for him.

remains to be seen if he is in the Avery role, and we use that more. Or if he is going to be more of a DE which he has done more recently and has been thriving.

At 6-1, 235 I would guess it would have to be the Avery role (expanded)

Only 4 players in the NFL have more sacks than Reddick over the last 2 seasons.

Let's go!

We'll see how it's structured, but sounds like a 2 yr/$30M or so with a club option for the third year (i.e. the guaranteed money is some bonus but mostly salary the first two years when you're not going to cut him in any case).

1) I offer up money with the majority of "hot takes" I say(if its easy take my money)

2) I was right a lot this year. A LOT

3) I agree, Hot take phrase is dumb

No one is going to bet you, you do not honor bets.  I bet $ 1,000 you couldn't ignore me, you didn't, and I still don't have $ 1,000

I'm not hating the move, I just need some break down on him in this scheme. He's not good against the run nor the pass. Isn't that going to affect him here???

DE first, next comes WR

Graham, Sweat & Reddick in 2022. Sweat & Reddick + draft picks for 2023. This works.

Also, no longer having to root for Barnett. 🙏

Does this solve DE? I'm confused - did he play DE with Panthers? Last I watched him in AZ he was stand-up rusher/LB, right?

I like the move and it doubles as meaning no more Derek Barnett, which in itself is the equivalent of signing a high level FA.

No you can not.  His dead cap hit is due to signing bonus money owed.  You can not restructure that away.  His base salary the next two years is 1.1 and 1.5 million.

He has signing bonus money that is already paid totaling 40.9 million.  When you trade a player, all future signing bonus money spread out into the future becomes due IMMEDIATELY.

Well, he could theoretically return some of the money... so it's possible, but not very plausible.

Most likely a SAM in base and an edge in nickel.  Still likely to draft a DE in round 1.

I would get a stiffy if we got Chark.

If your biggest worry is that your EDGE is not great in run support, then he's a good player in today's NFL.

Going back to my post this morning about guys I don't want.  Reddick doesn't make sense here at all.

Lot of odd fronts coming. I bet he takes that Avery/P Johnson role and dominates from it. I'd say base SAM, nickel EDGE rusher. Still grabbing a DE in R1.

Because you don't draft centers in the 1st round....Especially when you have so many other holes.

Depends on the center. If it's someone like Dickerson, who can play all three interior spots at a high level, yes.

If it's a one trick pony like Linderbaum, no.

And on top of that, it remains unclear when we are losing our center but it will definitely not be this year.  Interior lineman in the first is a dicey proposition.  Interior lineman in the first to replace someone at least a year ahead of time is a fool's proposition.

With Sweat and now Reddick, I do not think the Eagles go DE with any of their 1st round picks.....

Hell yes. Can they take another EDGE? Sure. Do they have to take another EDGE in RD1? No.
