I like the Reddick signing. Surprised, but pleasantly so. Cost wasn't nuts.

Reddick is also kinda streaky. 17% of his career sacks were in one game.

I never even thought of Reddick as having a phallic last name.

Now, it’s all I see.

He should follow trend and change his name to Haason Football Team.

I read that the dead cap for trading Cox is 25M over 2 years, and that we actually save money trading him. Getting picks back would make sense, or players on rookie contracts.

21 million per year for Kirk , Godwin will get 22 minimal

I don't even like JuJu but I'd rather have him for one year 7 mil than Kirk for that contract.

Was also Mailata playing RT on a bum knee.  Not taking anything away from Reddick however.

Of course it's not out of the question.  I'm just saying that this could be a hedge against those pass rushers being gone and, if so, we can now afford to take someone like Mafe or Ebikitie, hopefully after a nice trade back.

Oh gotcha. Yeah, I agree there. I think Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, Walker, Karlaftis are all definitely gone by 15. Ojabo is a maybe. That still leaves Jermaine Johnson available. Or as you said, there's some nice tradeback R1, or R2 options as well.

In what way do Reddick and Cox overlap other than having phallic last names?

Going for a quicker front seven. I'm betting they draft Jordan Davis now. Cox won't have a position because he hated the 4i DT and produced nothing there and he's no longer up to the stresses of NT. They've got Ridgeway, Williams, and Hargrave for the 4i position. They need the big NT and some good edge rushers. I still want Ojabo but Reddick is a nice start.

Howie will absolutely over-invest in both OL/DL.

Picking a DE in the first is not over investing. After Graham leaves, we'll still only have 2 edge rushers. I'm all on board with Ojabo or Johnson in the first on top of what we have.

There’s a reason Kirk’s guaranteed money isn’t leaked

Same here. Wasn't on my radar as a direction they'd go in. And got him at a nice cost, betting there was a little hometown discount in there coming back to Philly. I'm excited to see him in green next year.

The Reddick signing tells me Howie still will not fully commit to a rebuild.  If a rebuild takes 3 to 4 years, then Reddick's contract will be expired by the time you are ready to compete.  Should have invested that money in a guy you can then sign to a second contract when you are ready.

I wonder if targeting Reddick as the big free agent move indicates the Eagles belief that Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, Walker, Johnson and Ojabo will all be gone by 15.

I think they see him as playing a different position (plus some flexibility).

Yeah, they definitely should have signed one of those elite 24 year old EDGES on the market.  Quality take as always from you.

I still think we go DE with 15 or 16. Ojabo and Johnson are the most likely. BG is going to be cut after next year (designate post June 1), and who knows what he will be after his injury.

Howie has said this explicitly.

The youngest of UFAs would be pushing 30 on your timeline, and those are exactly the type of contracts that has led to the cap situation you talk so often about. No thanks.

Jaguars never learn. Doug doesn’t stand a chance.

I'd take Lawrence off their hands lol

There is no 3 to 4 year rebuild in the nfl. This isn’t baseball. Get a qb, get some pass rushers, and try to get some good bounces in the playoffs

I did not say an EDGE, a player you can sign to a second contract.  Could be a CB, a safety.  I like the player, just seems to go against the notion of rebuilding.

Where are we getting the QB ??

I'm surprised you thought Howie was going to do a rebuild. Isn't this his last year (pray to God there's no contract extension)

I'd disagree that they'd take 3 to 4 years to rebuild. Look at Chargers and Bengals As soon as they nabbed those QBs they started competing

meh, you have to have players to play while you are "rebuilding".
