The Reddick signing tells me Howie still will not fully commit to a rebuild.  If a rebuild takes 3 to 4 years, then Reddick's contract will be expired by the time you are ready to compete.  Should have invested that money in a guy you can then sign to a second contract when you are ready.

I disagree, kinda.

I see where you're coming from, but in order to rebuild you need some building blocks in place. Graham is on his way out, Sweat is still fairly unproven as a starter. Cox/Hargrave may not be here much longer. We need some veteran leadership at all levels. Reddick can give you that as some of these guys filter out.

Aside from that, it's always possible they sign him to a small extension in a year or two as well. He's only 27 and theoretically could play another 4 years or so after his deal with us is up.

I still think we go DE with 15 or 16. Ojabo and Johnson are the most likely. BG is going to be cut after next year (designate post June 1), and who knows what he will be after his injury.

Agreed. I'm happy with either one. If they can pair that with Wyatt and a CB, I'll be ecstatic.

Some Reddick stats

2021 - 9 games with 1 or less sack

2020 - 8 games with 1 or less sack ( and 5 of his 12 1/2 sacks came in one game )

I did not say an EDGE, a player you can sign to a second contract.  Could be a CB, a safety.  I like the player, just seems to go against the notion of rebuilding.

Where are we getting the QB ??

Signing Reddick does not hinder the quest for a QB. Is your position is that the Eagles cannot make a transaction until they upgrade Hurts?

Lol at 1 or less sacks.

1 sack per game would be excellent.

Yeah, just not a fan of the signing I guess.  I literally had no reaction to it.  Undersized, can be exposed in coverage, and

Better than good.

What's that got to do with what I posted? I'd still take Lawrence as he's a lot younger

I think they see him as playing a different position (plus some flexibility).

You pay a pass rusher to rush the passer. Arizona tried to have him do other "stuff”, he wasn’t very good.
Hopefully he’ll get his step brother to come out of retirement for the Sixers.

All fair points.

I see it as an upgrade to what we have and someone who can play well/help us rebuild.

He is streaky though, I agree.

You think the position is invalid because Genard freaking Avery and a 7th round pick didn't play well in it?

Yeah honestly I'm a bit worried about Gannon and his "scheme".   Reddick is now the best pass rusher on this team so I just hope we actually use him properly as such.

Probably still a better QB than Trubisky though.

Zach or Russ?

Mike, you're trying to kill my buzz by showing me...good stats? He's not a coverage LB or a run-stopping DE. He's a pass rush weapon, plain and simple.

Wait wait...do you mean Zach or Russell?

This signing comes down to fit. If the Eagles use Reddick as a rush SAM (which they almost certainly will given Avery/Johnson's 2021 usage) and don't force him into coverage or edge setting 60% of the time, this is arguably the best deal of free agency so far.

With the way the defense played it didn't seem like it'd take much to upgrade

Alright Howie...now go get DJ Chark and Justin Reid and then pull this draft out of your arse:

Yeah, Reddick is a much better pass rusher.

Yeah, but he's not really a DE. He will most likely be OLB here.

After all the phallic names in recent years, it’d sure be nice to have some strange on the team…oh and some beavers too!

He will play the Avery role to a much better result. OLB then some DE in obvious pass rush situations.
