Sure, why not...

We're definitely missing something with this guy. The loves F'in loves him.

I suspect a team like Denver, that you know, has some defensive talent on their roster, will want to hire a HC that can make use of it either as HC or via a DC.  Gannon's scheme works but not when you have 2 safeties that can't run and LBs who are the same.

It's also the vogue system in the NFL at the moment too

He sounds smart and is personable.  I think that's no different than most workplaces.

I edited my post. I realized that he hasn't actually won the lawsuits. He has earned them

Not necessarily.  The skill set to be a successful head coach is not really the same as it is for being a successful coordinator.  It was like Chip Kelly.  He obviously knew how to design and call a game but had no understanding of how to lead a group of men (instead of boys who are totally dependent on him).  When you read the comments from current Eagles players, they praise Gannon's ability to explain things to him and connect with them - a trait more useful for a head coach than a coordinator.

Oh we're comparing them. It's just that it's not a fair comparison because one is a QB and one isn't.

Not really.  Hurts is going into his 2nd full season on a team that's in the middle of a 2 year rebuild.   (Meaning he has not reached his ceiling yet)  Watson is a seasoned vet who has put up spectacular numbers during the regular seasons....although his numbers haven't always translated to wins....or playoff wins.

Selling the franchise and spending 40+ mil per season on a QB with side issues, that hasn't won in the playoffs, would be among the worst moves I've seen...Especially since you have (at least) another year+ of a window before they are expected to go deep into the playoffs.  AND when you already have a QB who has yet to reach his ceiling.

This is the same league that hired Mike McCarthy again and reportedly considers Dan Quinn a top candidate this year.  I figure since he’s an up and comer, he might have a clear idea about who he might hire for his staff/analytics, etc., etc. So, as a staff manager - a plus.

Listen, I'm not discussing the compensation required, that's a separate discussion.

In terms of on field product, Watson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hurts (and that's being generous to Hurts).

Everything...I misjudged the amount of wax (complete lack of) on the wood floor at the VFW as I tried to slide across the floor on my knees.  Body moved, leg didn't.

Lyrics

And I would do anything for love,
I'd run right into hell and back
I would do anything for love,
I'll never lie to you and that's a fact
But I'll never forget the way you feel right now,
Oh no, no way.
And I would do anything for love,
But I won't do that
No I won't do that
Anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love,
I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
No I won't do that
And some days, it don't come easy
And some days it don't come hard
Some days it don't come at all
And these are the days that never end
And some nights you're breathing fire
And some nights you're carved in ice
Some nights you're like nothing I've ever seen before
Or will again
And maybe I'm crazy
Oh it's crazy and it's true
I know you can save me
No one else can save me now but you
As long as the planets are turning
As long as the stars are burning
As long as your dreams are coming true
You better believe it
That I would do anything for love
I'll be there till the final act
And I would do anything for love!
And I'll take the vow and seal a pact
But I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way
Tonight

And I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
No I wont do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of
But I just won't do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of
But I just won't do that
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of
But I just won't do that
And somedays I pray for silence
And somedays I pray for soul
Somedays I just pray to the God of Sex and Drums and Rock 'N Roll.
And some nights I lose the feeling
And some nights I lose control
Some nights I just lose it all when I watch you dance and the thunder rolls
And maybe I'm lonely
That's all I'm qualified to be
There's just one and only
The one and only promise I can keep
As long as the wheels are turning
As long as the fires burning
As long as your prayers are coming true
You better believe it
That I would do anything for love
And you know it's true and that's a fact
And I would do anything for love
And there'll never be no turning back
But I'll never do it better then I do it with you
So long
So long
And I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
No, no, no I won't do...
I would do anything for love
Anything you've been dreaming of
But I just wont do that
But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life
No way
And I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
No I won't do that
Will you raise me up?
Will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this Godforsaken town?
Will you make it all a little less cold?
I can do that!
Oh I can do that!
Will you hold me sacred?
Will you hold me tight?
Can you colorize my life I'm so sick of black and white?
Can you make it all a little less old?
I can do that
Oh oh now i can do that
Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?
Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?
Now I can do that
Oh now I can do that
Will you cater to every fantasy I got?
Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot! (HOT)?
Will you take me places I've never known?
Now I can do that
Oh, oh now I can do that!
After a while to forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that its time to move on
I won't do that
I won't do that
I know the territory
I've been around
It'll all turn to dust
And we'll all fall down
And sooner or later you'll be screwing around
I won't do that!
No, I won't do that!
Anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love
I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
No I won't do that

Well that's silly.  When discussing something like this, compensation is likely one of the top (if not the top) factors involved.

For example:

Although I support Hurts and wouldn't mind seeing him getting more opportunities next season, I wouldn't be against drafting a guy like Carson Strong if he was available with one of our 3 1st round picks.  I wouldn't trade up for a QB but since we have 3 1st round picks, a year like this would be an ideal time to do it.  Hurts gets another chance, while Strong develops.

Win-Win situation with very little cost in terms of draft capital and salary cap.  Not to mention I would likely draft a stating DE and another top player with the two picks I retained.

3 top players (including a QB)  + Hurts + 40 million in cap savings >>>>>>>>>>Watson.

If you can't see the difference between Jalen Hurts as a passer and Deshaun Watson as a passer, then you're helpless.  You wanna talk about Ceilings?  Ok, so Hurts hasn't reach his ceiling yet, great.  The problem is, that his ceiling is about half as high as Deshaun Watson's.

Listen, I am not arguing that we should go after Watson.  I said last year, when we made the trades to acquire more picks it was to have the ammo to go after Watson.  I have never argued that we should get him.  I have been pretty indifferent on the idea.  But to compare their "ceilings" is ludacris.  And stop with the "hasn't won the playoffs" crap with Watson.  That's just irrelevant.  You think the Rams thought the same about Stafford?

This alone does it for me. We could have the ghost of Bobby Layne at QB, and I would prefer him to Watson. We could play with 10 men and I would prefer that to Watson.

I don't think most people are going to argue that Hurts has the upside to someday be compared to the top QB's in the league. I believe the argument is that there is enough potential there for him to get another year while we rebuild. I will argue that we did not acquire the draft picks to go after Watson or any FA. The FO made it clear the strategy was to accumulate draft picks to shed cap and get younger by rebuilding through the draft.

Indeed.  May he rest in peace.

On a side note, does anyone know what the "....BUT I won't do that." part was referring to in the song, "I'll do anything for love"?

It's in the song... listen to the last 15 seconds or so... it's obvious what he won't do.  He's responding directly to an accusation by the singer he is singing the duet with.

At the song's conclusion, the woman predicts two things that he will do: "You'll see that it's time to move on", and "You'll be screwing around." To both of these, the male emphatically responds, "I won't do that!"

Well, I disagree just because an excellent QB makes up for so much in this league.  Excellent QBs make the entire team better, make mediocre coaches better, make GMs better.  Furthermore, with where the Eagles are drafting they aren't getting the "top players", they are getting the next best players.

This is not an argument to trade for Watson per se as I don't want that scumbag on the Eagles, but as a QB he is very very close to being worth the picks, money and Hurts.
