$17.5 mil would make him the highest paid guard in the NFL and it's not even close.  Lot of money for a guard, too.  I hope Dougie knows what he's doing.

Cousins is playing 4-D chess while everyone else is playing checkers.  There seriously needs to be a WAR statistic for NFL QBs.

Doug has nothing to do with Baalke’s contracts.

I don't think Doug's making the deals.

Here's what's crazy about some of these WR contracts, while they don't age as fast as RBs, WRs do age fast.

Go down the receiving yards list the last couple years, and see how many are older than 28:

2021: #3 Adams (29), #9 Lockett (29), #13 Allen (29), #14 Kelce TE (32), #36 Green (33), #37 M Jones (31), #42 Gronkowski TE (32), #48 Ertz TE (31), #50 Thielen (31)

2020:  #2 Kelce TE (31), #21 Jones (30), #23 Beasley (31), #26 Thielen (30), #41 J Jones (31), #43 Hilton (31), #50 Sanders (33)

2019:  #2  J Jones (30), #4 Kelce TE (30), #18 Edelman (33), #21 Brown (29), #33 Ertz TE (29), #35 Sanders (32), #40 Cobb (29), #41 Fitzgerald (36), #44 M Jones (29), #46 Beasley (30)

TEs, big WRs and slot guys with quickness over speed seem to age the best.

LOL.

Don’t know why that’s funny. Baalke still works those deals. Or do you really believe Doug was handed GM power too in Jax?

Patterson is 31 and had minimal success everywhere he’s been. Pass.

Nice year last year , receiving and running  , about 1300 yards combined , 11 TDs

pff top graded receiving back ,  the right deal  I’m signing him  . He would fill in all over  , not my featured back nor my number one receiver , plus he is your return guy

pff breakout player of the year

Yeah agreed, although Chark at $10m per is not ridiculous. I’m concerned they’re going to break the bank for Allen Robinson or cheap out for a Zach Pascal.  A trade is also a possibility still as well I suppose. I’d prefer a slot guy in FA anyway. My proposal, Dillard abs a 5th for Tyler Boyd and a 3rd. Dillard would help finish the Bengals oline overhaul and Boyd gives us a veteran playmaker in the slot.

My guess is JuJu is probably the most likely play.  If the Bengals want Dillard, I would see if they would trade Higgins.

Browns are gonna have to pay so much more to keep him in the AFC that theyre basically out of it. 2 Horse race between Panthers/Siants me thinks. Maybe a random dark horse? 9ers../

No Doug's not the General manager. But this is some paint with numbers ish. Baalke respects Doug and is actually listening to him thus Doug's fingerprints are on ALL THESE DEALS.

Jaguars never spend money, never make a big splash in free agency and all of a sudden Doug's the HC and now there spending BIllions of dollars(mostly bad deals ala Philly) on Offense and no one is putting 2 and 2 together.

Two things scream at me with this Jaguars off season.

1) Jaguars are all in on Doug. They respect him. They're listening to him. Basically carte blanche

2) I think Doug had a lot more power signing/resigning then we gave him credit for here.

For all the wrestling fans out there, it appears Scott Hall will be taken off life support later today.  Never a big fan of his, but he's unquestionably a central figure in one of the most important eras of wrestling entertainment in the WWF/WCW wars.

Hall has officially passed as of last night.

For the record the last time the Jaguars had a ton of cap space they spent a crap ton in Free Agency

That was a year or two prior to their AFC Championship Game run in the playoffs in 2017.

1st RD WR confirmed. Get it right this time like you did with Simitty, not like you did with Reagor.

Maybe, just maybe, the Jags know that Doug is at his best dealing with veteran players over rookies and first-year players, so they decided to hit the market and load up with a bunch of vets since they had the cap space.

He's provides more upside than Reagor and he will come relatively cheap.   That should be enough.

I'd guess we draft a receiver with more upside than both of them though.

I mean at this point a newt has more upside than Reagor

Eagles should call Bengals about Boyd.

Agree,

Now do you think they just randomly pulled names out of the hat or do you think Doug gave them a wish list?

S

Wish list...yes.

Contract amounts...no.

Well there's a list already, it's called the free agent list.

Doug can request players, that doesn't mean he's the one giving Kirk 20 million a year to play there. A good GM would tell Doug, sorry pal, but it would cost too much to bring him in, let's move to the next one. Baalke is a bad GM and it's amazing he's still employed.

The other side is that because Jax is such a bad franchise, it's very possible they have to overpay to get talent in the building. Still nothing Doug has any say in or control over.
