I still have this sneaking suspicion that Howie will make a move for Kyler.

Hurts and 2 picks.

You really think Howie will get Kyler who is the exact same player as Hurts with a slightly stronger arm and pay him his asking price of 50 mill a year? Or even anywhere near that number?

You really havent thought that threw have you?

I mean would people really be upset with this? Traded down 16 for 32/34 for the Lions to grab Pickett.

No interest in Carr. Way better than Hurts, but if I can’t get a top 5 guy, I wouldn’t waste draft capital on a QB. You’d just be getting a guy who’s better than what you have but will still be outclassed when you face the better teams with elite QBs

He’s a top 5 guy in the NFC. But the top 5 guys are Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, Allen, and…Herbert? You’re not getting any of them no matter what. Nor are you getting Burrow, Wilson, Watson or Stafford. So…what’s left? I argue Carr might be the next best in that bunch.

Watching some Nevada highlights and damn does Carson Strong have a cannon.

Also, Romeo Doubs might be one of my favorite WRs in this draft.

The TE Cole Turner is pretty good as well.

You're not kidding. It's a move that has Howie written all over it.

I can already picture his smug smile at the introductory press conference...

Elite QB are hard to find & are even harder to acquire. If you get a guy that can help you win, you do it. Carr is good enough

Degenerative knee condition and did not look very good at the Senior Bowl or Combine. Does have a cannon but little accuracy and little to no athleticism.

Agreed. Hurts to Carr would be a huge jump in our passing game. Hell, Hurts to Minshew is a jump.

& if it costs two firsts, I say you give up #19 & next years first

Oh I know, was just commenting on his cannon of an arm. Was watching Romeo Doubs highlights.

If I was going after a non-D1 WR on day 2 this year, I’d go Watson or Tolbert over Doubs. I do like Cole Turner on day 3 though. But yeah, Strong has a cannon.

I wouldn’t go that crazy. He’s soon to be 31 and hasn’t won a single playoff game. Is he an upgrade? Sure. But not one you should be giving up valuable assets for.

Hopefully they find one in the draft at some point. Sucks, but I don't think they'd win a championship with Carr and would rather have the picks to build the team and hope you find one in the draft than give up the picks for someone you know can't compete with those elite QBs.

One RB for another

We agree he could be good enough but sometimes the best move is no move. Teams have need QBs for decades and the Eagles are more than one or two players away compared to the Bills, Chiefs, even Bengals. There are no amazing QB options right now that don't require settling or giving up way too much, but they have a rare opportunity to vastly improve the defense.

I doubt they make all 3 picks where they are, but they could easily come away with a CB, LB, and a DE before the end of the first round. Get a S in the second, another LB, DT, slot WR, and C/G with the rest. If they come away with 4 or 5 players (not that I think Howie can get it right), but IF they do that drastically moves the team forward for the future.

You have to wonder...would 3 1st round busts from one draft finally seal it for Howie?

Even daddy would have to wake up at that point and realize his lil' adopted son sucks.

There is that possibility for sure.

You'd be surprised.  IIRC it was well over half the blog here that didn't want any part of him in the first...even with a trade back from our already trade back.

Yup

Acquiring a franchise quarterback. I understand why that seems strange to us Eagle's fans

On one hand, we are dangerously close to running it back with McLeod and Harris as likely one year stopgaps at safety. On the other, I think that's a borderline silly contract the Saints gave to a 29 year old S who tore his achilles late in the season. I figured Maye would be one of those bargain one year deals for around 5 million. The silly nature of the WR and S markets has really Fed the Eagles.

It sucks they didn't get any of those guys in FA but it also helps the Eagles truly rebuild this team, rather than add pricey vets.  This is a very deep safety draft and the Eagles are in a prime spot to get a top WR in the draft (if they choose to go that route in round 1).

I'm OK with Epps as one of the safeties.  I do not want McLeod back.  If they get a top safety in the draft, let him start day 1 next to Epps.  The hope is they take a pair of safeties who could grow in to a starting tandem.

The Browns have supposedly offered "three 1s and more” for Watson.

Howie lost the comp pick game this year.
