Took an Spurs team that wasn't as talented to the Champions League final.

People thought he did a good job with Chelsea but was just a situation that couldn't be won

As a Chelsea fan I followed him closely during his latest stay in London. The team did come on late last year and yes the situation was very difficult. However, overall I was underwhelmed. Hopefully, it was more a matter of not being a good fit. He may do very well with USMNT in any case. I don’t feel strongly one way or the other.

He's still a pretty decent get and was likely the most accomplished manager available who was willing to do the job. And it's not like the expectations are going to be crushing or anything, he should be able to easily walk over the super low bar set by Berhalter. I also wonder if the recent success of Emma Hayes with the USWNT played a factor at all.

Arsenal is going to be very very good again this year.  I would not be surprised if they end up on top.

Not even the best player on his own team, let alone the world.

Speaking of Rodri, devastating injury for City.

   Oh look, some nerd who has never played a sport in his life has an opinion!

NEWS FLASH: Madrid won the double last season using THE EXACT SAME overloaded left wing tactic. Literally, exactly the same. Hence why Rodrygo has such higher stats on the left wing — because when in possession Rodrygo and Vini would both operate on the left wing with Carvajal and Valverde providing the width on the right.

Ronaldo was a 4-4-2 winger when the EPL was actually competitive. Haaland is a striker in a farmer league.

They are not the same.

Athletic has some talent. However, I’ll freely admit that La Liga is not as entertaining as the EPL. Much more tactically organized defense, low blocks, etc. so you won’t get the frantic pace of the EPL unless there is an early goal.

We are a group of old college friends renting a place in Cadaques.  Girona isn't that far and we have several big soccer fans so a game was in order.

Hahahahahha butt hurt

Time for me to say something about Chelsea as they look to be putting together a pretty good team again.  There is plenty of talent on the squad and it looks like the coach has done a good job of identifying the core set of guys and is really bringing them along.  The team is the youngest in the PL and they simply have too many players so a number need to go as they just won't get any time.

Hard to see which ones will really pan out save for Palmer who is already starting to reach the top group in the league in terms of his consistency and overall performance.  Today is the headline grabber but he's played plenty of great games over the last 12+ months.

They have a real shot at top four this year and maybe more in the years to come.

That’s a slight understatement bud! In terms of the players Chelsea have and the options available they must have the deepest squad in the world? Finding the right combination was always going to be the key but I think so far as you say they’ve got it right.

Yes, agreed.  The number of players is ridiculous and frankly a real problem.  They probably have to jettison at least 5 or 6 guys, maybe more.

Dani Carvajal career is over

At Girona match now

Girona keeper saved three penalties

Anyone remember three saved penalties in one game? Not counting shootouts of course.
