And it's not like the expectations are going to be crushing or anything, he should be able to easily walk over the super low bar set by Berhalter. I also wonder if the recent success of Emma Hayes with the USWNT played a factor at all.

September 28, 20241 yr Time for me to say something about Chelsea as they look to be putting together a pretty good team again. There is plenty of talent on the squad and it looks like the coach has done a good job of identifying the core set of guys and is really bringing them along. The team is the youngest in the PL and they simply have too many players so a number need to go as they just won't get any time. Hard to see which ones will really pan out save for Palmer who is already starting to reach the top group in the league in terms of his consistency and overall performance. Today is the headline grabber but he's played plenty of great games over the last 12+ months. They have a real shot at top four this year and maybe more in the years to come.

Finding the right combination was always going to be the key but I think so far as you say they’ve got it right.

They probably have to jettison at least 5 or 6 guys, maybe more.
