Last season I got burned getting Union tickets to take my kids to see Messi play, and he didnt play.

If I was to pick a Club World cup game to go to in Philly, or East Rutheford, whats the game to pick? One exclusion, Im not paying 300+ per ticket to see Mbappe.

I was looking at June 18th, Manchester city to watch Haaland. My kids know him because of his Prime drink.

The competition has rules that teams must field their strongest available teams or suffer sanctions, so theoretically he should play at least some time, that said I don't see how they'd police player getting 'injuries', and City could probably beat Wydad Casablanca with their second team (or third), so there's a risk they may give some of their regular Premier League team a day off, but Haaland is pretty fresh after time out with an injury so he may get the nod to line up with their new signings.

Thank you. You saved me from doing it again. As you said they can beat this team with their backups in. Apparently thats just what they did. No Haaland goals and I read they played their 2nd string.

He’s one name among a few I’ve seen floating around as midfield targets. Not sure about how serious it is. I do know Madrid definitely wants to add to the midfield. On the other hand I’m not sure we will want to spend a ton of money and from my understanding his defense isn’t that great, which is a huge emphasis for Alonso, so who knows.

I’d expect the #1 priority to be a CB so Alonso can use 3 in the back when desired. As good as madrids defense has been this season, we are limited to the traditional 2 CB and 2 FB tactics.

Yeah, he isn't a great defender. I'd say he is mediocre.

Then I’m not sure about the fit, tactically.

Alonso wants to press and then recover quickly. If he’s not athletic and not a good defender this may be wish casting by the media.

With Mbappe and Vinicius we have our quota of limited effort and skill on defense. I think we’d be looking for someone with a high work rate who can pass, solid in defense, while maybe be willing to give up some dribbling and finishing ability if that profile make sense?

We already have a ton of attacking/technical midfielders with Jude, Arda, Brahim, Mastantuono, and Pitarch along with a buy back option on Nico Paz for only €10M.

I kind of expect Pitarch to go on loan, then Paz to come back to compete with Arda, Brahim, and Mastantuono. Then bring in more of a box to box type.

If you haven't watched him yet you should take a look at Estevao. Way early for the 18yr old but he looks like the real deal.

@TEW No doubt Real has a plan to try to pry Estevao from Chelsea and get him down to Madrid

Madrid tried to buy him when he was in Brazil as a wonderkid, but our attack is so loaded with youth he smartly decided to go with Chelsea.

But yeah, I think we will take a look again in a few years when his contract runs down.

One monkey wrench could be Vinicius. Apparently he turned down a contract extension and wants Ronaldo money. He’s not going to get Ronaldo money here, so if he goes to Saudi Arabia or PSG, then maybe we’d go after him earlier.

It would certainly solve some issues to be able to play Mbappe on the left, Estevao on the right, and then perhaps move Endrick into the starting lineup.

But realistically, this is probably 4 years away.

Yeah, I saw the entire story of the chase to get him. Seems like Chelsea won out because they allowed him to stay in Brazil for an extra year. Going to be interesting to see if he ends up in Spain or not.
