They made the story interesting and some of the dark humor throughout the whole film made the whole audience laugh out loud. Some of the kills were awesome. I’ll definitely be seeing it again. I’ve seen some people complain that it’s not really a horror movie. Some people can’t let go of their expectations, I guess. It’s my favorite comedy I’ve seen in a while and one of the best horror comedies in the sub-genre. I knew you would love it.

Spoiler The scene where it skipped from the monkey beating the drum right to that creepy uncle’s funeral was hysterical. 😂 And agreed on expectations. I honestly was expecting one of the most terrifying movies of the last few years. It is absolutely not that, but it was so good with the dark humor aspect and plot. It was still 100% horror. Some critics are just idiots.
February 28, 2025Feb 28 Finally watched Nosferatu - I pretty much hated the first 30 minutes or so, but the second half of the movie was fire. Lily Rose Depp was crazy good, and of course Skarsgard playing Orlok as well. That final scene when the sunlight hits him was amazing - I really enjoyed the shot of the shadow of his hand traveling across the town as well. Some nice call backs to the original. I also watched a movie called Elevation with Anthony Mackie - giant steaming pile of dogshit. Don't bother.

Not sure how else to describe it but if you go in not expecting too much it’s fine. Teller and Taylor-Joy are both great - solid action scenes and SFX I finally got to see this tonight and I thought it was great. Bits of Overlord, the Last of Us, awesome actors, and nonstop action. Sign me up every time!

Also, finally there’s a lunch where wearing pants will probably be frowned upon!

March 13, 2025Mar 13 Watched Get Away last night. Enjoyed it. Though, every time I see Nick Frost (or Simon Pegg), I’m reminded how much I love Shaun of the Dead and that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed a movie like that in a long time.
March 24, 2025Mar 24 Author I went to see Ash tonight. My wife took the girls to her mom’s for the night and I went by myself. Heaven for me. Until the movie. First of all, I bought my seat 1 hour before it started at an AMC theater. There were 3 total people that had tickets at that time, and I obviously sat as far away as I could from the disgusting dreck living in our society. 10 minutes into the movie, these 2 fat teens sat directly next to me and I had an empty beer can in one of their cup holders. So I had to move it, because there were only 98 other seats still available in the theater. Then one of them told me I look like Aaron Paul…..during the Fing movie. I wanted to quote John Cena from Trainwreck, but they wouldn’t have understood it. "Mark Wahlberg is 150 lbs. I’m 250…lean. I look like Mark Wahlberg ate Mark Wahlberg.” That’s all relative because I’m not 250, nor am I John Cena, but I would absolutely beat Jesse’s face in like Hank did in Breaking Bad. Side note - the movie was terrible. I don’t know if it tried to be the Thing, but I should have known what I was getting into when I saw it was directed by "Flying Lotus.” Spare me on giving me his details. The movie sucked. I fell asleep for 25 minutes of it, and the best part about it was I snuck in a brisket sandwich in my giant cargo sweatpants covered in mango habanero bbq sauce from Jim N’ Nicks.

Way more Thing-level body horror than I expected (which was zero... so actually a LOT more than I expected) and the chick was kind of like a discount Ana de Armas. I too nodded off at some point when Spoiler her and Aaron Paul were mentioning they had like 5 hours until the shuttle lined up again and at least 30 min walk to their launch vessel... and woke up as the girl was doing a science project on a sprouting flower/organism that broke free moments later and started parasiting people. This section made me realize Aaron Paul was on the ship when crap went down, because he's there when all that happens... but also got killed by one of the first people who caught the parasite? so did the "replicating" parasite just clone a new Aaron Paul and try using her to get off-world? I still remain wildly lost

May 25, 2025May 25 Heretic was pretty good. Saw people online ripping on the ending but I thought, aside from the panic induced idiocy that that allowed for further danger, the ending was great. Mormon Missionaries should be thankful that I refuse to open the door for them.
May 28, 2025May 28 Author I saw the new Final Destination. I thought it was great. If you can’t appreciate those movies for what they are, then you should remove the stick from your butthole unless you’re@mikemack8 He likes it nestled up in there tight.
June 1, 2025Jun 1 Fear Street Prom Queen was pretty bad. I enjoyed the trilogy they put out a few years ago so I had high hopes for this, but they leaned a bit too hard into all the cheesy 80s horror tropes.
June 6, 2025Jun 6 @hputenis @Shepard Wong So I was thinking about this the other day after watching the trailer for Bring Her Back and seeing people talk it up - what recent horror movies have actually lived up to the hype? There have been a bunch recently that have been dubbed "scariest of the year" or "scariest all time" - I remember a ton of hype for The Sadness, Hereditary, Talk to Me, Longlegs, and of course @hputenis favorite, Midsommar. If you wanna go further back I think Sinister was hyped pretty hard, when they re-made Evil Dead, etc. I'm sure there's a ton more that I'm missing, but my point is all of those movies are good, but for me the one that most lived up to it was Hereditary. That movie was just F'n awful for me personally, the whole way through. Talk to Me was pretty damn good too. Sorry - rambling a bit and this thread has died down a bit and needs more action. EAT MY DICK
June 7, 2025Jun 7 I saw werewolves for sheets and giggles... Think of " The Purge" with werewolves lol. It was kind of a fun watch
