I don’t think it’s a big deal.  Certainly not enough to shoot someone over.  I’d compare it that old guy who shot someone dead for texting during a movie.

I'm not talking about this case or the shooting. I'm just astonished posters here think it's perfectly acceptable to wander through unattended construction sites. I'm telling you as a contractor it's a big F'ing deal to us and I guarantee you I would call the cops. There's theft, vandalism, and not to mention liability of you getting hurt on my site.

It's not like he was on his cell phone during dinner, now that's justifiable

Are you talking about buildings or houses? I was only talking about houses and I think all but 1 were my own. I think the other one was the house next to mine or maybe in my neighborhood. Don't think I've gone on a construction site for a building. Those are usually fenced off

sometimes i walk into my neighbor's house when they're not home...just to check out the decor...see what kind of nightgowns his wife wears...stuff like that...nothing weird or illegal.

There are "construction sites" and there are houses being built in neighborhoods and developments. I don't know where you people grew up, but around Montco you could wander in and out of houses in new developments and unless men were working on that house, nobody ever said squat.

I've noticed most of the builders who are putting up houses where i walk my dog fence off their job sites.  The only one that wasn't fenced off was at the end of a dead-end street and took like 2 years to build.

Well they definitely failed on calling the cops

Either. Hell I've been asked for credentials just walking down the Caltrans right of way where there is no structure, just rebar sticking out of the ground. Construction companies do not want you on their sites. There's liability issues and you could be F'ing with their Shiite.

Never been on a construction site that wasn't a new house being built.

I don't see an issue if it's your house though. They didn't tell me to leave either

I’m sure that was before the days of someone getting injured while they were wandering, then suing the balls off of the developer.

I think some of you are confusing the fact that you’ve done something and haven’t been noticed or "caught” with it actually being ok and acceptable... or you did it 25 years ago before stealing copper or getting sued for injuries was common. It’s not fine to walk through a construction site, even if it’s new homes, without an escort being either the contractor or a salesperson.

If you really want to get on a job site uninterrupted just drive up in a plain white new pickup, wear a button down and khakis, put on a glow vest and a white hard hat, then just walk around with a clipboard.

Of course it's not an issue if it's your own house. These people are talking about walking into random houses under construction...alone.

Do I really have to explain these things.

Concerning walking into a home under construction, I've done that several times.

You shouldnt.  Contractors have tools and materials stolen all the time.  And it sucks.  Tools are expensive and you cant earn a living without them. So when someone steals them (to sell them for drugs) and you have to spend your hard earned money to replace them, angry doesn't begin to describe the feeling.

also, people go onto job sites and rip out all the copper thats already installed.

stay away.

What is it with posters on this board walking around construction sites? Lol. Bobby wizdum claimed to have gotten brutally beaten by  cops for being near a construction zone ....

I was asking myself the same thing.  Nosey people up in here

So what do you think Aubrey stole?  In the video he’s not carrying anything.  Maybe a pneumatic drill down his pants??

You mean like Sticking crap down in empty conduits so when you go to pull wire your f’d?  I seen it happen more than once.  But it’s  usually some pissed off plumber or carpenter that does it.

I dont think he stole anything.  I dont even know if he was there.  But who knows.  All i was saying is dont go on job sites.  You are either looking to steal, looking to damage, or just looking (being nosey).  None are acceptable.

Well, there seems to be a lot of folks who think the proper punishment is some slugs to the chest.

Watching the video made my stomach turn.  So sad and so unnecessary.  And just flat out ugly and ill go out on a limb and call it racist.

I don't think it's mutually exclusive to argue that people shouldn't enter construction sites and that that shooting the guy for doing it isn't an appropriate response. Both seem like common sense.

I worked in construction in the late 80's to the mid 90's. we did some rehabs in greys ferry, right across from the old VA hospital. guy bought an entire city block. he was incredibly naïve and elected not to have security on site, especially after hours. I tried to tell the guy, but he and my own bosses were suburban guys that just didn't get it. we came into work one day and all of the newly installed copper was gone.

suddenly there was 24/7 security on site.
