Let the teachers do their work. They don't need confusing laws messing them up and screwing with their lesson plans. Who know more how to teach to Kindergartners? Kindergarten teachers? Or some politicians in Tallahassee? Keep your politics out of the classroom. I believe things such as government overreach and book bans are bad ideas.

I agree with your broader point.  But thats not "their work," though.  Thats all Im saying

If teachers across the nation at large would stick to their work, we wouldn't have an army of purple haired lunatics taking up a too-large-to-ignore percentage of the workforce

If religion doesnt belong in schools this nonsense absolutely doesn't either

I fight fire with fire, bro. You were given fair warning and the opportunity to pull back, but you just doubled down on the dickishness. One strike, and you're out. It used to be zero. I used to come in here, guns-a-blazing, ready to be a d-bag to anyone of the opposite political persuasion, but ultimately I decided to try to steer most things toward productive discourse. It doesn't mean I won't attack if provoked, though. I particularly don't take kindly to the insolence of Dunning-Kruger types.

That's fair. When it comes to proofreading posts, I'm as useless as a paraplegic at an orgy.

One of the many things I've learned from watching Oz is that paraplegics can supposedly still get it up and even ejaculate, they just can't feel it. Which sounds like one of the worst punishments a man can suffer.

Man Wizard of Oz is different than what I remember...

Depends on the degree/level of the spinal cord injury. But yeah I believe in most cases the senation is gone. Making an orgy pretty much pointless for ol Ironsides here.

 I meant the tv show on hbo many years ago. One of the main characters is a paraplegic that gets a girl pregnant.

I have yet to see one piece of evidence that these math books banned by DeSantis contain sexual references.

This is DeSantis making up a strawman so that idiots like you will lap it up. Because you have no desire to scrutinize anything coming from the right.

I can say quite plainly that I don't want any part of an educational system that makes individuals of any race feel guilty. And I would be up at the school board meetings fighting against it should something like that be proposed.

But the instances of that happening are more rare than DeSantis and others would like, so they make crap up.

Keep eating at the trough though. You're a good mindless soldier of the right. Maybe they'll make a statue of you after they send you to the glue factory, Boxer.

Right I agree. So what specifically is wrong with the bill itself other than the fact that it is unnecessary?

This whole discussion just perfectly encapsulates the elevation of style over substance in politics to a nauseating degree.

1. As I have repeatedly said, I couldn't care less about this law. Maybe it's unnecessary, but it basically enforces a policy that most people see as completely rational -- don't talk to young kids about these things in school (leave it to the parents). But the left goes bananas and makes it an issue because...they are idiots dedicated to walking into every culture war trap. They shame and bully Disney into taking a position.

2. So now the GOP in Florida is going to "punish" Disney by revoking their special district and...assuming over $1 billion in debt off their books while assuming the cost of providing services. So to own the libs, they will hurt their own taxpayers. Disney will now have to pay some taxes and get normal approvals for building new sites, but stock analysts uniformly view this as being a complete non-event. So this doesn't impact Disney but slams taxpayers. Genius.

Basically, Democrats act like idiots, and Republicans say hold my beer.

Fing both sider you :P

I think just pointing out that it's a political exercise with DeSantis picking fights with windmills is in and of itself worthy of discussion.

From an educational standpoint, the more parents meddle in the process the worse it is IMHO. It cultivates an environment where parents and teachers are artificially rendered enemies all for the purposes of political advantage.

It is quite literally politicizing parent-teacher relationships by making it a front I the culture war.

This baseless notion that public school is full of left wing radicals bent on grooming children sexually is as much a fantasy of the right now as it was back in the 80s when pearls were clutched over teaching about STDs and safe sex.

For sure but parents and the community do have a say in the minimum base line.  You do agree with that, right?

Yes. And they do. School boards hold a lot of sway. Acting like parents are somehow being victimized by schools is insanity.

I say this as the father of multiple school age children spanning multiple levels of education.

What's laughable is that the parents complaining are the ones least likely to actually be involved in their kids' education day to day.

The funniest thing in here is that ishlibs all of a sudden have to pretend to care about central Floridians supposedly having to pay more taxes.
