April 5, 20232 yr Report details ‘staggering’ sex abuse in Maryland at drag show! Oh wait, did I say drag show.... More than 150 Catholic priests and others associated with the Archdiocese of Baltimore sexually abused more than 600 children over the past 80 years, according to a state report released Wednesday that accused church officials of decades of cover-ups.

(a) Interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural or club athletic teams or sports that are sponsored by a public educational entity or any school or private postsecondary educational institution whose students or teams compete against a public educational entity shall be expressly designated as one of the following based on biological sex: (1) Males, men or boys; (2) females, women or girls; or (3) coed or mixed. (b) Athletic teams or sports designated for females, women or girls shall not be open to students of the male sex. (c) (1) The Kansas state high school activities association shall adopt rules and regulations for its member schools to implement the provisions of this section Schools have to verify biological sex before its athletes can compete. How will they accomplish it? Quote Rep. Barb Wasinger, R-Hays, sponsored the bill this session. On Feb. 22, she engaged in an extended back-and-forth with Rep. Brandon Woodard, D-Lenexa, during which she allowed that students might need to be examined by a doctor for an official gender determination. You can watch the exchange below. The key part, toward the end, is when Woodard presses her about students lacking documents that establish their gender. "We don’t have a birth certificate, how are they supposed to prove it?” he asks. "That would be a medical examination by their doctor that they would fill out for a sports physical,” she replies. Quote Sen. Carolyn McGinn, R-Sedgwick, gave a prickly speech Wednesday as the Senate took up the override. While she ended up voting for the anti-trans legislation, her words revealed deep frustration about the inclusion of small children. "How are we going to figure it out?” she asked. "Everybody says it’s a birth certificate. I don’t think you have to go give your birth certificate to everybody freely. So how else are we going to figure it out? And it’s going to be a personal inspection. My concern for those little kids who should not even be having to worry about this issue, because really they should just be running like little beehives on the soccer field and having fun. https://kansasreflector.com/2023/04/09/kansas-anti-trans-sports-law-opens-door-for-genital-inspections-of-kids-thats-the-simple-truth/ Kansas could have explicitly barred such a thing in the bill, but they chose not to.

Or more than likely, people will either a) not attempt to let their MALE children participate in a FEMALE sport or b) provide the birth certificate. Who doesn't have their child's birth certificate?
April 11, 20232 yr Also - the portion of the bill you posted in no way states that anyone's genitals will be inspected.

At least in my state, obtaining a copy of a birth certificate requires a trip to Vital Records and $10 each copy. What if that isn't feasible? What if the kid was born out of state? How else do you think they will determine biological sex?

The fact remains, there are biological males playing in female sports and it needs to stop. Men and women are too physiologically different. I have a daughter - when she was in soccer as a small child, the boys and girls played on the same field until about age 7-8. From there, they were separated. Even at that young of an age you could notice a subtle difference in how the boys played vs. the girls. Now in her teens, there's not a chance in hell I would let her on the same field as a boy - they are bigger, faster, and stronger. Subjecting a girl to that should be criminal. It isn't about inclusion, it's about safety.

You have to provide one for most organized sports anyhow so I don't see that as some big impediment. But it's crossing the line once the requirement shifts to a physical examination. Pretty F'ing weird if that now has to be included as part of a physical for girls.

It changes as they grow older and their bodies change into adults. Male bodies are built differently. I get it. It puts all of womens sports in jeopardy when biological males are on the same field in high school and college. Yet not all men are athletically gifted to play competitive sports. Perhaps girls aren't meant to either. Or better yet, I think the athletic councils need to put their heads together and figure out what the guidelines are for each sport they oversee. I don't think the hard hand of government needs to stick its business in youth sports to figure it out. Now we have a situation where all youth have to certify biological sex in order to play. Enough already.

No, I'm not a supporter. Nice try though. I don't want government making the determination who plays youth sports... Though I am more apathetic to women's sports in general.
