 It's just odd to me how we try to normalize this behavior.  If your 12 year old came to you and told you he wanted to get a tattoo on his face to match Post Malone or he was going to kill himself, you would probably tell him to STFU and take his Playstation for being such an idiot.

I'm certainly no expert on suicide, or its prevention, but I've talked to people who have been around it and have been told that more often than not the people who say they're going to do it almost never do.  It's the ones you don't hear anything from that you have to be concerned with.  Especially with kids.

It's not about a tantrum. Or a tattoo. It's about life or death.

Her child is suicidal, but she thinks she's the one being emotionally manipulated. It's all about herself.

Where is her child today?

Hopefully as far away from her mother as possible.

impulsive behaviors like wanting a tattoo or whatever aren't generally indicative of some deep seated issue.

gender dysphoria, when diagnosed accurately, can be a source for lingering issues of identity.

I mean, there's a reason why Bruce Jenner got gender reassignment surgery in his 60s. It's something he was dealing with for a long time.

I would absolutely agree that especially in teenage years these issues can be overstated. And not every trans person is going to seek these sorts of remedies. And oftentimes those who do seek them are looking for some solution to a problem that's probably more between their ears than between their legs.

But at some point how others live isn't my issue. And at some point I don't have say over what other parents believe is the best course of treatment for whatever ails their kid.

Surgical treatment for minors should be a non-starter IMHO. And even in rare cases where maybe it's the better course, waiting until one is 18 seems reasonable. Yeah there may be some missed window here but the chance to do permanent irreversible harm is too great.

I don't see that level of treatment being common at all, even if it's happening in very rare circumstances. And I don't think we're anywhere close to it being "normalized".

Wait a minute...just from this page alone there's at least 4 non-MAGA's that are against gender surgery.   But I was told everyone who wasn't on the Trump train wanted to permanently disfigure every kid in America.  Now I don't know what to think.

Every single politician you all idolize is vehemently in favor of it. So you can distance yourself from it, just like you claim to be against lib soft on crime policies that are causing violent crime to explode, but it's a direct consequence of the politicians and the policies you ultimately support.

Hi Mom, Dad, I'm gay.

Dem Household. Ok. we love you. We only care about your happiness. Thank you for sharing. As long as you are ok and happy, we are too. Why don't you have your partner over for dinner.

Republican Household. Sinner. Get the F out of my house and don't ever come back. Go consort with the devil. You are disowned. I'm removing you from the will. You'll get nothing and like it. Sinner.

Mom?

Listen to your father. It's for the best. Get goin. Goodbye.

(Dad) Shut up **** and get me a beer.

I don't have to "distance" myself from anything.  I'm against it.  Obviously a lot of politicians that I vote for aren't against it, but since this is roughly issue #217 in my ranking of issues I vote based on, I can deal with being on the other side of one issue that doesn't effect me and almost certainly never will.

Tarantino, eat your heart out

I've lived thru something similar with my daughter (no not a gender issue) for several years and I can assure everyone that giving in to whatever is causing the problem is absolutely not the answer.  In fact, it is exactly the opposite.  Of course, there has to be some method to be able to manage the immediate risks while confronting the underlying problems but you don't just give in to the issue.

I think this woman communicated extremely poorly.  I think she really meant to say that she was adamant about being strong and fighting whatever demon her daughter was facing.  Of course, maybe I'm wrong and this woman just isn't capable of understanding that gender dysphoria is a real thing for some people.

You're wrong on this one, ChatGPT.  It was pretty obvious what she was saying.

Lol yeah I’m sure he’ll get right on that, right after he signs a law that builds a wall across the entire southern border and then signs a law that creates the most super duper healthcare system in the world at a cheaper price than what we currently pay.

This is what separates Democrats from Republicans. We all know which party is susceptible to idolization. It's why you all brag about huge rallies.

And of course the funniest part about trump now claiming that when he’s president, he’ll get a law passed that bans transition surgery for children, is that HE ALREADY WAS THE PRESIDENT and didn’t do this.

I swear these MAGA morons are the most gullible people I’ve ever met.

True and it's also just a "fake outrage" that's "not happening" or so I've been told in here.

Good point.  The fact that these hospitals list the minimum age requirement for transitioning is a clear indicator that it doesn't happen.
