Okay, the Eagles qb situation has reached defcon 1 level of craziness, and there is a real danger of it making the rest of the forum unreadable. So in the interest of trying to save the universe, I present a thread for everyone to puke out all their thoughts about who the next qb of this team should be - future backup running back Jalen Hurts, future porn star Gardner Minshew, future one-legged pirate Carson Strong, future US congressman EJ Perry or future trivia question answer Ried Stinnett, a man so forgotten in this mayhem that you didn't even notice I spelled his name wrong, and are now furiously googling to see if I am referring to his first or last name, without realizing the answer was actually both.

So if you have any insight into why various UDFAs should be the starting qb of the Philadelphia football team, or why Gardner Minshew should be throwing darts and breaking hearts, or happen to be related to Red Sunset and just want to weigh in on the discussion, this is the thread to do it. Because the rest of the forum needs to be saved from the endless qb discussion that was somewhat containable until five minutes after the draft ended, but which now has exploded into a covid-like plague that threatens to snuff out all other conversation, like how much Howie sucks.

I personally think Reid Stickup is being severely disrespected in the thread. He was the OG "backup ready to win a Super Bowl" while Carson Strong was still a two-legged 5-star recruit and EJ Perry was acing the SATs.

Eagles traded for Gardner Minshew in August of 2021 and then released 3rd stringer Nick Mullens. Joe Flacco was QB2.

Eagles claimed Sinnett off waivers in October of 2021 after the Eagles traded Joe Flacco to the Jets. Minshew to QB2.

Reid Sinnett was active as QB2 for one game last year on Dec 5 2021. Minshew was QB1 for that game.

 

I am going to be honest with everybody, if I thought the Eagles were going to exit the 2022 draft with Carson Strong. EJ Perry and Redi Stonnett without giving up either of our 2023 first-round picks, I wouldn't have believed you.

Can’t imagine how excited the Hurts haters would have got if the Eagles actually drafted a QB if they get this excited over a UDFA. 

Our 2022 QB will be Hurts. Our 2023 QB will almost certainly be Hurts or a 2023 draft pick.

This sounds about right. We’ll likely go into 2022 with Hurts as our 1, Minshew as our 2, Strong as our 3 if he’s healthy enough, and slowly whittle away the others through TC.

Hurts will have a decent year, an improvement over 2021, and we move up to take a QB in the 2023 draft. QB sits behind Hurts for a year and then we let him go in FA, Washington or Minnesota pick him up in FA and declare it the move of the decade despite him being a borderline top 16 QB at that point, new QB is our starter moving forward in 2024.
