I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

All I’ll say is there is a reason HonestNFL is a 2x fired scout and currently unemployed

HonestNFL has some good tweets, but they definitely have green colored glasses. Afan-itis if you will.

Howie definitely has a burner of some sort. Just saying.

All I’m saying is if you guys keep tagging afan about topics we can start and he says find a new slant we know he’s colangelo.

Perfect!

Driscoll isn't bad, he just isn't a pro bowl level guard. He's still a serviceable starter and a great depth/rotational piece.

He just can't stay healthy

The problem with broadcast movies is that they put a 2-hour movie into and 3-hour time slot.  Five minute commercial breaks make it almost impossible to enjoy a great movie.

Any broadcast with long commercial breaks is a non issue with a DVR. As long as I don't care about commenting in the game day thread, I'll record Eagles games that start at 1:00 and start watching them about 1:20. The last quarter probably live. The broadcaster gets paid and I don't have to watch commercials about things I wouldn't buy if I had Jeff Bezos money. Win Win

Driscoll has been good whenever he has played. The problem is that he can't stay healthy. IMO, he should be our super-sub #6 OL like Big V.

I don't think anyone has questioned him as being a great #6 OL, or even a really good sub.  But, for the notion to be put out there that he's Pro Bowl level (not that that means nearly as much anymore) is just ridiculous.  He's an average to slightly above average starter when he's in there.  He's not a top 6 OG in the NFC.

A house mate of mine at Uni had his film studies friends around to watch that film.  I thought I was bored at school but that film took it to another level; even Dennis Hopper couldn't help me get through that film

Im no OL expert but I have no idea why he keeps saying Driscoll played at a pro-bowl level. He only played 9 games.

At least according to PFF, that's a bit of an exaggeration, they gave him a 70.9 grade for the season, which is decent but not overwhelming.

However, interesting tidbit, Jack Driscoll career at Auburn: 1,690 Pass-block snaps - 4 QB hits allowed. Played RT for two years after transferring from U Mass. Didn't miss a game.

Problem with Driscoll, 6'5 but 33" arms - a little short for OT. A bit of a tweener, good athlete who lacks length for OT and power for OG, but someone for Stoutland to work with - at RG, if Dickerson/Mailata on the left side, he has the raw athleticism that is normally found at LG (where teams pull right and want a guard who can move in space).

He looked solid at RT, isn't going to run block like Lane, but isn't going to be sieve in pass protection either. At RG, Driscoll can move his feet but lacks power. But we'll see if he's improved, weight room and better technique can help.

Man.  You should have stuck with it. Baby wants blue velvet.

In all honesty, I think I fell asleep or did a self memory wipe as I don't remember a single thing that happened in that film. If I had known who David Lynch was, I'd have got a 6 pack of beer and a bag of chips, and be done with the pretence I was watching a deeply impactful film and just got drunk instead.

Make sure you use sunscreen @downundermike

Speaking of, what's everyone's go to sunscreen?

SPF 30 and 50 on the face.  I don't have a PH preference on water.  I do like sparkling water but usually go for the discount brand instead of LeCroix

spending on UDFAs:

2022: $1,747,000 (12 players)

2021: $480,000 (7 players) [Stoll $112.5K]

2020: $764,000 (13 players)

You're limited in the amount of bonuses you can give, but not guaranteed money (i.e. guaranteeing part of the 1st year salary - but it's dead money only if you cut the player, otherwise it just guarantees their practice squad or roster salary, and if claimed, you're off the hook). But it's a clever way to encourage UDFAs to sign with you.

I loathe David Lynch films. Twenty minutes of Eraserhead was enough to put me off him forever.

I am sure that, when Howie traded away so many late picks, he was planning to use those projected salaries on UDFAs.

"I told Coach [Nick Sirianni] and went and saw the scouts in the draft room, and I said, ‘We have the best undrafted free agency in the history of undrafted free agency,'" Roseman had said on Friday night. "We think we are going to get guys after the draft that are going to be on our front board, and those are going to be extra picks."

Still nothing on the Bradberry front.  I wonder if he’s cooked or there’s an injury concern.

I'd guess he's asking too much and teams are waiting ii out for his price to drop, unless of course a team suffers some corner injuries then hell be in higher demand.

Yeah, last year he knew the UDFA pickings would be slim, and this year unusually deep. So his draft strategy reflected that reality.

I generally see picks after 150, and definitely after 200, as a head start on UDFAs, most of these late picks will end up on the PS.

We did land Stoll (top blocking TE) and Awosika as UDFAs last year.

Drafted 4 players after 150 in 2021:  Tuipulotu (#189), Jackson (#191), Stevens (#224), Johnson (#234),

year before 5, Hightower (#164), Bradley (#196), Watkins (#200), Prince (#210), Toohill (#233). Togiai (who was claimed) only UDFA from that group.

The UDFA class being deep is not hindsight bias. We discussed this during the 2021 draft.

For once I agree with him
