His style and skills are the perfect compliment to Smith...on paper

We'll see how it actually translates on the field.  Same goes with the D. Lots of "great on paper" scheme fits.

Thanks everyone.

I know most of us don't know each other personally,  but my heart swells just hearing the well wishing and support from you guys.

I won't hijack the thread any more that I already have.

Just please reach out to someone, anyone if you ever feel like there's no way out or your only solution is suicide. There's always hope somewhere. Think about loved ones, and if you think you don't have any, just reach out to anyone. This is an overall good community...pm someone here. Pm me even if you feel it's your last resort. There's always light at the end of the tunnel, and all those other cliches.

You're important to someone. Your life has value, whether you believe it or not.

I'm not gpnna drink, as much as I want to. It's bad medicine.

I really want to, but I know I can't. Alcohol is my demon and it never makes things better for me.

One day at a time. That’s all we can do and you can do it.

Yep. That's all that matters.

Don't know if this is a hot take or not, but give me Brown/Smith over DeSean/Maclin any day of the week.

Best friend killed himself last night. I feel so bad I'm numb. Wish I would have called him just one more time.

My Sis did it 4 years ago and her son, my nephew did it 8 months later.  She was 9 years older than me, and he was 11 years younger.
I still beat myself up over not returning a call a week earlier, she was pretty much out casted from my family over drug abuse and stealing, and of course the one person she didn’t steal from or hurt was me, and I let her down. Ugh.  Both from drug overdoses, but I believe they both knew what they were doing.
Alcoholism runs in my family along with depression, my dad tried to kill himself when I was 11, at Christmas and my birthday is the day after.  He spent a month in a ward and since then, 39 years ago he’s been great.
There is no easy answer or answers, l’ll always remember the great times, but I still think about both of them everyday.  Alcohol has never been my thing, but it wouldn’t matter because you just feel worse the next day.
Off topic what made me feel almost just as bad is my best friends mom refused to get the Covid Vaccine and refused to wear a mask, even though she was 77.   Her family including my best friend are all die hard Republicans, so she did take the horse pill, 3 days before she died, but she still died.  We’ve been friends for over 45 years, vacations together, parties, graduations as I was a year older than my buddy.  She died December 27th and I haven’t spoken to him or his family since because I’m still pissed off.     I’m wrong and I know it, but my mom a nurse for 60 years tried to convince her to get the vaccine, and she lost her best friend as well.

It does get easier as time passes, as for suicide, it’s a permanent solution for a temporary problem. Every and any situation can change in an instant we all need to be here to witness it.

Life is good Westbrook!

You can't address every position in one offseason.  From that perspective, I have no problem with Epps starting at safety, especially if they got the other additions right.

But there can really be no debate that safety, with Epps starting, is that one position that had to just be delayed until later.  This is starting Casey Matthews at MIKE on the dream team.

Again, I'm fine with it.  But anyone hyping Epps can just be exposed as being on Lurie's payroll.

AJ Brown is just plain fun to watch

Watching his career TDs in the NFL his play style reminds me so much of TO.  Not as tall as TO but plays with that same physicality and agility to make a huge touchdown catch at any point of the field.

Just a quick thought on suicide - I have personal experience in this area unfortunately and one thing I’ve come to understand (after a few cases) is that you’ll never really understand. People in that position are in such a different place as the rest of us, it will never make sense. Not the reasoning, not what lead up to it, and not the act itself.

you won’t find comfort there, but understand there is little we could have done, we who are left behind can’t own it, and you probably never will understand it.

And I’m really, really sorry for your loss.

https://footballadvantage.com/cover-6/

Cover 6 is a good high-school coverage, but a bad NFL-level coverage. It just gets crushed by smart QBs who understands spacing.

Well, if one of your LBs is Singleton, yes and I wasn’t a fan of Nelson’s spacing in the zone either. But just like the NFL teams aren’t tied to the DL schemes in the article cited, there can be tweaks of Coverage 6 that don’t follow the formula outlined.  Coverage 6 can be mixed in in the NFL.

I bristle a little when it is mentioned that the Eagles run the most zone like zone isn’t pretty prevalent in the NFL.  Heck, Cover 1 is zone (for the S playing high) even though the majority of the back seven are in Man. I really don’t like Cover 0 a lot (pure Man).  Schwartz loved Cover 3.  No one talked about how much zone he was running. Can’t get more zone than Sticks coverage.  In actuality, what the Eagles don’t run is press man.  Why would you ask CBs of Slay’s size or Maddox’s size to press.  Neither McLeod, Harris or Epps had the speed for press.  Now Bradberry has the size but is so much better in off coverage with his 4.5 speed.   Cowpads like to play press, which is why Diggs is so hot and cold. If he misses on the press and they are in Cover 0, he is toasted.

Yup. Cover 6 is protecting deep, so the LBs have to carry the seams (potentially) AND the flats.

That's the biggest problem. This is an easy coverage to check down against. Want to run this on 3rd and 12? Fine. Otherwise, no thanks.

Well, the LBs have to carry the flats in Cover 2 and Cover 4 too.  It’s not so much the coverage but the spread, the cushion. Tight Cover 6 would work on 3rd and 5.  The thing with Cover 6 is the depth is covered by the CBs (usually) and the FS. The question really is how deep. JR is absolutely right that the LBs need coverage speed.

@Westbrook#36

Sorry for your loss man. Keeping you and your friend's family in thoughts and prayers.

Know it's not easy, but try not to beat yourself up for what happened. Remember the good moments you shared with him instead.

You are already beginning the healing by sharing and spreading awareness on a subject that often gets hidden away in our society.

Yeah, we have to see how it plays out, but they started the offseason needing DE, DT, LB, S, CB, C, WR, and QB. The last one is huge and will keep them from where they could possibly go this season, but Howie has to get credit. They got younger and better and with two first next year (and QB1 in Strong) they made a very fast turn around.

F I hate this world.

Hope you are hanging in there @Westbrook#36. The night after can be hard with a lot of lost sleep.

Hey man, as someone with many deployments on small teams I’ve experienced a fair share of this and I understand the numbness, and the desire to self medicate. Please feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat or talk about some resources. I wish there were better words to say. Be strong. Be open. Be honest with yourself and others about how you’re doing.

Playing more two high should enable tighter coverage no? Even if not press i would still like to get away from giving big cushions to the wr

Hot Take…

People who switch last names on jerseys are garbage people. Anyone who puts "Brown” on a Wentz jersey is just an effing piece of trash. Get a job, bum. And it’s not funny or clever.

I have a barely worn Wentz jersey that I am considering do that for.  Otherwise the jersey will end up being sat in a draw for years....

I'm in the same boat. I will keep mine as is, and wear it as the occasion allows, as a commemorative of the SB year.
