So Weidl leaving for basically the same position, maybe Howie and company burned him out...

Eh I'm trying not to read too much into it. He's from Pittsburgh and started in their system. Plus I think given the degree of control Howie has I'd imagine the Pitt job is ab easier path to becoming a GM. Like an OC going to a place where they get play calling responsibility.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

He went home.  If he had left for a different city I'd be more concerned.  He went back to Pittsburgh.  The massive brain drain on the front office is bigger concern.  Why are so many leaving?

And I am sure Andy Reid has given glowing reviews to many QB's, including Kevin Kolb, Mike Kafka, AJ Feely, Andy Hall,

So which of those starts over Hurts?   Kolb, Kafka, and Feeley.     Since Hall would be in his 17th rookie season, you can’t expect much from him.

Based on the easy early schedule, by what week will Hurts have put together 6 quality starts in his career ??

Probably earlier than you'd expect.

So like week 12 2023

What's really curious to me is that he interviewed for General Manager, didn't get the job, but accepted their offer to be Assistant General Manager.  That tells me he wanted out, in a big way.  Not sure if the Steelers offered him more money, more control than what he had here under Howie; maybe Weidl was told he'll have more autonomy while Khan manages the contract, financial side of the operations.  It reminds me of a personal experience:

I interviewed once for a Manufacturing Manager position with a global company.  It meant relocating 2-3 hours, finding a new home, etc.  After my 3rd interview they gave me a realtor's business card, told me to look around town, etc. -- but there was no written job offer yet.  Fortunately I was smart enough I didn't give notice at my employer until I had one.  They called me two weeks later to tell me they'd offered the job to someone who interviewed after me, who had 20 years of industry experience -- but still wanted to hire me because they needed my process and people skills and experience.  They offered me the same money as we'd discussed for the other position, so I accepted.

Suffice to say I didn't stay very long (about 18 months), because when the person they hired as Manufacturing Manager left the company to go to the competition they decided to interview for the position again.  I went to them and said "I'll take that role", they said "We're not sure if the other managers will accept you in that role because you came in under a different role".  That was enough for me to say 'So long'.

I'm curious to see what will happen if Khan doesn't succeed as General Manager -- if Weidl would automatically get it, or if the Steelers would pull the rug out from under him.

Yeah, he has 3 or 4 softballs to start the season. His super fans will be posting some swag.

You're not going to find any head coach actively employed in the NFL who will say anything negative to assess an active player.  No one answers an interview question with "Yeah, that guy stinks.  They need to move on from him, fast"

Apparently you have never heard of the Colts or a guy named Carson Wentz.

The lack of respect for human life.

We have an all too accessible internet that serves to antagonize, radicalize and dehumanize others.  We have a culture that glorifies guns and violence.  While it's true that it's possible people that are radicalized or otherwise bent to commit mass violent acts, guns are much more easily accessible and deadlier than other methods.  Mass shootings and gun violence are a problem that is unique to the US among first world nations.

The reason rhymes with Rowie Hoseman.  There is no path to a GM job with the Eagles.

I don’t understand why ppl feel the need to run to a sports message board to state their political agenda. Especially when there’s already a forum for that.

Keep it classy and post about your bowel movements and love for Nick Foles.

I can run around and not throw the ball with much accuracy. But sometimes I like to run left.

Can I get a recliner in the backfield? I do my best quarterbacking while reclining with my feet up.

This new article is about Fangio, but also Cover-6. I will point out that the two best Fangio-style defenses had Aaron Donald and Akiem Hicks. You can't run this defense without awesome iDL.

Inside the Birds recently interviewed Flip. I was so interested in hearing the interview because I thought we might get some inside insight into what happened with Wentz. Nope, it was like click bait. He wouldn't say anything negative about any of the QBs he's worked with. I get it, they have to be able to trust their QB coach but it felt like a wasted hour of him saying such and such QB was great and he loved working with them. I felt they could have saved me an hour of my life by just saying "We talked to Flip and all he had to say was everyone he worked with was great.".

"One of the biggest things there was I asked Andy, ‘could I be part of the team again?' He was like ‘I would love for you to stay here but you're not a backup quarterback' so when I heard the big guy, big red, say that it showed me more confidence and more respect that he had for me when he said he wanted to see me somewhere playing. I can truly understand that and they wanted to give Mike Kafka a little more of a chance to go out and compete and backup up Mike Vick but basically he didn't see me backing up again. He felt like I should be starting somewhere and playing so that's just the respect he had for me and saw the hard work that I put in to get better as quarterback last year with those guys."

Vince Young. Reid didn't want him back on the team because he was "too good to be a backup". I'm sure he loves Hurts though.

And after that glowing endorsement from Andy Reid that he should be a starter, he never made a regular season NFL roster again.

Chipotle fails on the price to food ratio.  It's also not any better than Moes.

Getting Brandon Hunt, the actual best member of the Steelers FO, is an upgrade over Weidl.
