In baseball, analytics is far superior because the sample size is far larger and the players are on an island, so to speak. 
 

Football can certainly use analytics, but it’s a tool; one of many and shouldn’t be overused. I think it is concerning that Julian, when he eventually takes over, leans further into analytics than Jeffy.

I don't think the problem is data size for analytics.  I think the problem is not understanding what analytics is and what it is not.  It's information about probability of a certain outcome in play calling.  It's not a substitute for decision making and design. I do wonder if Lurie serves as a check on Roseman.  The criticism of Roseman is that he keeps the analytics department too separate from the coaches.  Maybe Lurie can bridge those departments without Roseman trying to fire him.  In any event, it sounds like his position is like a marketing one.
