I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

We (the EMB) currently sit at just over 940,000 posts. We're on pace for about 40,000 posts for the month of May. So it's looking like we'll break 1,000,000 posts within the first couple of weeks of J

The problem with this, as I pointed out last year, games are not scripted.  The team needs reps in preseason games to be able to adapt to new situations.

When you have a scripted environment, you know what defense you are seeing, and you are seeing similar results after 1st and 2nd down.  In a game, there is multitude of outcomes, and multitude of defensive looks you see on the following down based on the outcome of the previous down.  Need to have live reps to practice responding to the previous play and the current defensive alignment.

That's true, but with several caveats. (1) The coaches may know the scripts but the players won't be told ahead of time. (2) You may not get a chance to work specific type of situations in a PS game that you want/need to work on, such as goal line offense and defense or certain blitzes - either to execute or block. Gannon may ask Doug to run certain plays or play-actions to see how his players react to them. They're installing 3-4 and 4-3 concepts and want to see how another team may attack those alignments. They may try various tempos and two-minute drills, things that may not come up in the course of a game. (3) You can see how your down-the-depth chart guys handle certain situations, which is critical when making roster cuts. And so on.

Hated the Celtics but always had the utmost respect for him.

RIP Mr. Russell.

Perhaps the greatest winner that ever played in NA sports.

Listening to the BGN practice recap for yesterday.  Both BLG and Kempski both have Carson Strong as the LVP yesterday. Kempski says he is very clearly the 4th QB on the team right now.

Is that counting Hurts as QB or RB?

How bout Hurts and whoever else needs it get reps in these team joint scrimmages and the preseason games as well?  Why not both?

There's not enough time for dancing and handshakes in PS where there's a game clock.

Ok.  And?

He’s clearly a bust and the first few days of training camp mean everything, especially for a basically drafted rookie.

Now, Hurts on the other hand, means nothing. Generally defense is ahead of offense in training camp. On offense, you need timing more than you do on defense.

Plus it’s just training camp so everything means absolutely nothing when evaluating Hurts. Not even sure why he’s there.

I don’t know why anyone cares about Strong, at this point.  Especially someone who is so convinced and obsessed that Hurts is a great QB.

I care about Strong, primarily because of the way that some (way more than you might think) fans have been gushing about him as a prospect, despite the fact that he went undrafted through seven rounds. A number of fans have been clamoring for him to be the starter this year. It’s actually kinda funny.

So yeah, I kinda chuckle when I hear he’s doing poorly. Not that I’m rooting against him, of course.

Love all the conclusions people come away with after three non-padded practices. Hilarious.

Yeah people here are now acting like they hadn't spent all summer talking about Strong becoming the starting QB.

Hurts is basically a rookie, which means he needs more patience than someone who is actually a rookie.

Newsflash, most of those people are just being sarcastic with the Strong love because of RTK and others obsession with Hurts.  It’s more parody than anything.

own your takes.

I hope you’re talking about me.  Because you’d be wrong, again.  Dead wrong.  Even though you have me on ignore, I know you read my posts.  Most people are making fun of you.  You’re just too dumb to see it.

Who the F are you talking about.  I haven’t been in here pumping up Strong.  I own my takes.  You got the wrong guy champ.

Says the guy who has Strong as his avatar.

oh sure. it wasnt you.

@HazletonEagle I mentioned Strong last fall in here before anyone.  And was intrigued by him.  But since we signed him, I’ve been cautious.    I challenge you to find a serious post by me about Strong being the answer for the Eagles.  Please quote it for the world to see.  I dare you.  Just one.

Oh thats right none of them were serious.

Own your takes.

I’m not "sold” on any QB as a prospect coming out of college. Clearly, Carson Strong wasn’t drafted for some reason. I can only assume it was medicals. But when you watch him play in college, there is a lot to like. Strong arm, accurate, gets it out quick. The chance of him succeeding in the NFL, like all QBs, is very slim. But he has some things to like. But NFL QB is mostly mental. Processing before and  after the snap and confidently getting the ball out quickly is more important than physical traits, IMO. Likely he won’t amount to anything. But when your starter struggles in the areas where your backup excels, it makes people wonder if that grass is any greener.

I’m not sold that Hurts can improve where he needs to to be successful, but I’m trying to go into this season with a bit of optimism. This roster is pretty solid overall. Safety is a concern. But every team has holes. My worry is that Hurts will make a 10-15% leap and improve his stats, while still not being able to do what he needs to do with his arm. Like we could win a playoff game but get exposed again by a better team. Where does that leave the team. Will they keep hoping for 10% improvement every year or move on from a "playoff QB”.

I truly hope Hurts can prove most of us wrong and be the guy. But the processing, arm strength and accuracy things are the parts that I’m not sure how much are I born as opposed to learned.

At least I’m excited to watch the defense this year. Last year was brutal in all three phases and really made it hard to watch. My gf at the time wasn’t a fan of watching games with me.

They would have to trade the stash to make that happen. I can't see them giving Strong that contract and exposing him to waivers. If they trade him, maybe. If not there is little chance they don't roll with 3.

Noah Ellis guarantee was $240,000.  He has been cut. The Strong guarantee was $320,000. The contract is the UFDA contract otherwise and kind of a low signing bonus in that $20,000 of the $320 total Strong got. Howie found a guarantee loophole with UDFAs and exploited it.

You’re delusional.  Again.

No. I think we can all remember you posting about Strong. Youre just not owning your takes.

Should be easy enough for you to find then.  Search Strong, then filter down to 4for4.
