The reason I asked, is the Athletic has them ranked #3 in their preseason rankings.

What catches my eye, is they won the Super Bowl in 2019, returned to the Super Bowl in 2020, and were in the AFC title game in 2021.  They IMO have a legitimate shot to at a minimum get to the AFC title game again.

They have done all of the above, and have a shot this year with only 3 offensive starters left from the 2019 Super Bowl team, Mahommes, Kelce and Hardman.  Having a QB will keep your window open.

Having Andy Reid will keep your window open.

He not only went to the NFCCG 4 straight time with McNabb, a scattershot QB (2004 was his only season of his first five with comp % > 60%), he got to the playoffs with 36 year old Jeff Garcia after McNabb (5-5 record) went down, 5-1 down the stretch and almost beat NO in the PO. Westbrook, Reggie Brown, Stallworth and G Lewis, Lonnie Smith at TE. Got back to the NFCCG in 2008 with McNabb (QBR 54.9), Westbrook, DeSean and not much else. 2009, McNabb (QBR 58.2), 2010 Vick. Scored over 400 points each of these three seasons.

It helps to have Mahomes, but it helps Mahomes to have Big Red.

Wonder if one reason they moved on from Hill was watching teams go more to two deep schemes, speedsters have less value, and guys like Samuel and Chase, who can pick up big yards on YAC off crossing routes, etc. have more value, as does the running game (7 in the box is an invitation to run). So sell high and move back to the Reid offense of the early 2000s.

Lol

And after all of that, what was the reason that Andy finally won a Super Bowl ??

Could it be having an MVP level QB was the difference, I think so.

The devil is in the details.

A local firefighter for a time, Dizon, 36, was hired by Russell in 2015 to become a Broncos’ pro scout. Dizon served as a Broncos’ pro scout and assistant pro scouting director for seven years. The Eagles are expected to make Dizon a national college scout with his home base in Arizona.

And in the first round of the 2023 draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select...

May be an image of 5 people and text that says "HIGHEST -GRADED WRs VS PRESS COVERAGE SINCE 2020 JUSTIN JEFFERSON DAVANTE ADAMS RAIDERS COOPER KUPP 93.0 92.3 90.8 90.4 90.4 A.J. BROWN STEFON DIGGS"

Trend that wasn't talked about much following the draft is how Howie uses the 2nd round year after year.  It really feels like he uses the 2nd round on players he hopes never see the field as a rookie.

Gowan or McPhearson I would guess with who is currently on the roster

Reading the Athletic article about next years QB's, good god the ball just jumps out of Levis' arm.

Shades of Castillo:

A 20-year NFL veteran as a coach and scout, Jeremiah Washburn enters his third season with the Philadelphia Eagles and second as the team's director of player personnel/senior defensive assistant. He first joined the Eagles as an advanced projects coordinator in 2019.

During the 2020 campaign, Washburn assisted a defense that totaled the league's third-most sacks (49) and ranked fourth in opponent three-and-out percentage (21.4 pct.) and seventh in opponent third-down conversion rate (37.9 pct.). He also helped guide defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and defensive end Brandon Graham to the Pro Bowl.

Prior to coming to Philadelphia, Washburn served as the offensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2018. He spent the 2017 season coaching the Chicago Bears' offensive line after working as the assistant offensive line coach with the Dolphins in 2016. Washburn originally started his NFL coaching career with the Detroit Lions as an offensive line coach (2013-15) and assistant offensive line coach (2009-12).

From 2003-08, Washburn was an area scout (2005-08) and player personnel assistant (2003-04) for the Baltimore Ravens. He served as a football operations assistant for the Carolina Panthers in 2002.

A native of Shelby, NC, Washburn played guard at Arkansas and worked at his alma mater as a graduate assistant (2000-01).

Would eagles fans freak out if the head coach made him an OC Instead of a DC?

I've argued before that giving Castillo a chance at DC wasn't that big of a deal as he was defensive player in college and usfl and had previously coached on the defensive side in college before moving over to TE then OL coach.

It's not much of a stretch to say most cos he's whether they coach offense or defense are well versed on both sides of the ball.

Some may have a penchant for a particular side or even position but for the most part I'd assume most have enough overall knowledge of football that what sets them apart isn't their wealth of knowledge of one side of the ball or position but their ability to teach and communicate.

Stoutland who I'm sure most would agree is one of if not the top o line coach in the game, does he have knowledge about technique or O line play that other o line coaches aren't privy to? Doubt it.

What sets him apart is his ability to identify traits and communicate and teach.

Castillo much like Andy Reid who much like Mike Holmgren who much like bill walsh who was an actual teacher were/are great teachers

Don't know much about Washburn but seems he's well versed in both offense and defense and I think he'll go as far as he's able to reach those he's teaching.

Nope, I am going with the more entertaining game, and the game that has more fantasy football implications for me.  The announcers have zero impact on what game I watch.

If Howard Cosell came back from the grave, I don't care if it's Detroit v Jacksonville, I'm watching it. (Setting aside the miracle factor--just for the entertainment value.)
