He didnt throw a pick 6 when you said he wasnt looking better than Hurts.

He was. And still is. He showed passion on that pick 6.

Frankly watching my high school Artesia (27 NM state championships) play their first game of the season against their rival Carlsbad is much more interesting.

But, keep on with your Zappe love ❤️.  He looks alright but nothing special.

Hes actually a rookie!

Corral is super sucky. Theres one QB Hurts is better than.

Zappe, like Geno Smith last night, is having dimes dropped by scrubs. If we had Zappe at QB we would be a legitimate contender.

Why do the majority of college teams schedule an easy win in week 1?

Normally, I wouldn't be banging down the door for the starters to play in the pre-season.  The issue I and I think many others have is that Jalen Hurts is FAR from a finished product and needs all the work he can get.  It goes back to him being handed the job with no competition.  I want Hurts out there working in a live game to be the best that he can be, to work through old habits and develop new ones to be a more complete QB and so on.

On top of that, this is Sirianni's 2nd season as a head coach with the starters.  I think any game situation he faces with them in there only helps as well.

If we want Hurts to be the best he can be, the more live action he sees, the better.

Think about that statement for just a second.  If the majority of college teams schedule a win, who loses?  What percentage of teams win to those that lose.  Something tells me 50% win and 50% lose.  No majority.

Scripted reps where they know what the situation is after each play.  Games are unpredictable and ever changing.

And playing an extra 10 snaps in the pre-season will prepare you for those unpredictable situations?  Really?

College? With 18-21 year olds with limited experience who have a few weeks of spring football then a few weeks to get ready.

NFL players work out all year, they have cut ups they hopefully are studying all summer, and they don't go to class, they live footbell 24/7 once cap starts.

The only guys who are comparable to college players are the ones who play most of the snaps in the exhibition games. The rookies and 2nd year guys who are fighting for last roster and PS slots.

Nah. There's a subset of doormats that take these losses for the money, I mean the little sisters of the poor don't schedule Alabama because they want a competitive game!

Same with 1-AA schools that like the money and to give their players a taste of big time football.

When these doormats start upsetting big time programs, they find themselves dropped from the schedule or re-scheduled into midseason (when the depth of major programs gives them an edge over upstarts).

No one loses. Everyone is a winner. The little schools that get their crap kicked in I guess get some money out of it being on ESPN when normally theyre on their local TV station in middle tennessee state or wherever they come from.

Those schools get a metric butt ton of money for those games.

Speaking of that, I hope the new college football realignment and super conferences eliminate those games.  No more Bama vs Southern Louisiana Tech or Georgia vs The Citadel.  I want to see the top programs play nothing but top programs.

Just like the ncaa basketball tourney should be the top 68 teams.  The weaker conferences that get automatic bids like the Ivy league should have their own tourney and instead get rid of the NIT.

Just talking the math.  Majority means more than 50%.  I understand exactly what you and HE are saying.  If BPac had said just that, he would be right.

Great game!  3 lead changes in the final 2 minutes.  The Artesia Bulldogs pulled ahead with a kickoff return for TD to win the game with seconds left on the clock. Gotta love high school football.

Way better than watching Zappity Zappey rule the Panthers backups with his 67.6 qb rating  🤣

It would have to be Josh Dobbs and Josh Rosen at QB for CLE then, as Watson isn’t playing anymore preseason either

51 minutes ago, mattwill said:

They should paly their QBs.  Watson needs some action. Texans were playing him at safety in training camp last summer before they finally sidelined him.  He hasn't played or practiced QB since the year at the start of COVID.  And he won't play again until like late November.  Jacoby needs to practice as well because he's an old journeyman backup trying to carry this team to within playoff contention for 11 weeks only to be benched for some serial pervert to come in and possibly steal the glory.

Kempski and BLG say Gainwell is having a terrible camp.

He did that against the Jets and took a cheap shot. Hurts did what he's supposed to (get out of bounds when he's a runner).

Also, most teams are doing this. It's more common than uncommon in the league.

Or, throw the ball away rather than go for that 1 yard he picked up.

Who cares about watching the starters go through the motions in pre-season?

I'm more interested in the players I won't see again (other than maybe special teams) unless there's a serious injury.

Obviously I do.  Hurts needs reps and they need to stop treating him like he's a 10 year vet.  He's not.  He has a lot to learn still and every rep is valuable.

Bingo.  Hurts has limited experience, no?

That's exactly what he meant.  The majority of the big conference schools... play the small conference schools that they expect to be able to walk all over.

Never thought he was that good to begin with really. He's a pass catching 5th round pick. That's pretty disappointing if he regressed as a pass catcher though. Howie can't play games with the position. You have an unreliable Sanders, a 5th round pass catcher only who's possibly regressed at his greatest trait, a 5" 6" try hard guy and that's about it. Go get someone pretty good and not another Brooks or Torrey.
