I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Across the board, it's been meh or negative.

Disappointing.

college football kinda does. most of the major schools play a bunch of D3 schools for at least the first 3 weeks.

Nowhere near all. Notre Dame's opener is at Ohio State. Oregon is at Georgia. Yes, there are plenty of cupcakes, too.

that's a cupcake for Ohio State😆

Got a football scrimmage between to horrible high school teams out in the middle of nowhere today.

I bet there will be 2-3 QBs better than Hurts here.

I would characterize their view as 'disappointing', not so much 'terrible'.

Never seen a post from you that contains the word Eagles...

Why are you even here except to exchange insults?

There's a special forum for that.

Wasn’t sure if there was sarcasm in your original one post why i said ignore the gif if it wasn’t. Hard to tell on here at times.

my point in all that wasn’t to defend Wentz. Cause I don’t think he played well throughout last year either. were moment in time where he did and then there was moments where he was just awful. But the colts were a mess heading into the season. Fisher wasn’t the LT til week 3. Davenport was a complete disaster for them at LT and when he started. They lost Nelson in the first couple weeks of training camp because of his foot surgery and he was not himself at the start of the season. I believe that another starter along the oline got hurt during the training camp as well (either RG or RT… it might have been Kelley now that i think of jt). That team was a mess going into the season last year and Carson wentz was super inconsistent with his play at QB.

Why i said in my original post two things can be true. Because both were.

Terrible was my choice of words, but I believe they gave him more "LVP’s” of anyone on the roster so far. I think so far in camp they’ve given him 4 LVP of the day’s of camp so far. That’s more than Jalen Reagor.

Categorize that how you want. The point is, he hasn’t been good.

Never thought he was that good to begin with really. He's a pass catching 5th round pick. That's pretty disappointing if he regressed as a pass catcher though. Howie can't play games with the position. You have an unreliable Sanders, a 5th round pass catcher only who's possibly regressed at his greatest trait, a 5" 6" try hard guy and that's about it. Go get someone pretty good and not another Brooks or Torrey.

Corey Clement just got cut by Baltimore...

Spot on. Wentz was having issues, no doubt, but the complete collapse of the O Line was his death knell.

I don't think anyone succeeds behind that makeshift group.

When we were playing our 13th O Line configuration in 10 games we had issues too.

Still think Carson can compete. Hope Ron can provide the tools.

Always liked Wentz, person, player.

Carson had a better stats season then Hurts last year with a tougher sch on top of that. Imagine if he had some preseason time with the Colts last year. I still think he is better then Hurts but in the end it wont matter since neither will be our starting QB in the future.

I’m less optimistic on Wentz right now than I was last year teaming up with Frank Reich.  I thought he would return to being a top 10-12 NFL QB in IND; last year I rated him about #18 in overall QB play.  I rated Hurts #22 overall, btw.  The tough part about his falling out with Irsay is I think there was room for Wentz to grow with the Colts — he played FAR better than he did in 2020 and I think Reich was on his way to rebuilding him as a QB.  I really believe the Colts will be surprised how little Matt Ryan has left.  Another mis-step for them IMO.

In WASH he’s going to an organization with dysfunction (even more than the Colts), a weaker OL, and defensive coaches Rivera and Del Rio running the show there.  He does have really good talent at the offensive skill positions with McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Logan Thomas, Curtis Samuel, with Gibson, McIssic, and Brian Robinson at RB.  Other than Taylor, the Colts are starved of talent on offense, so that could be a big upgrade.

His success will depend on if Scott Turner and Ken Zampese can get him to take the easy throws and be more patient, take fewer chances trying to extend plays that aren’t there

He was not that great last year either. Hes not a true vision runner. Hes a slot receiver in the end, not a RB.

Obviously I do.  Hurts needs reps and they need to stop treating him like he's a 10 year vet.  He's not.  He has a lot to learn still and every rep is valuable.

But playing Hurts means you play the other starters on offense.  They don’t need the reps.

Wait for the final cut downs.  That’s when surpluses are traded.

I thought Reich might rescue him too. Guess he didn't have enough pieces around him, who knows.

We see him twice, if he stays healthy :angel and we should know how to defend against him. Lotsa tape.

I guess trading reagor would be addition by subtraction, but it's not like a team is going to give us a good safety in return. It's going to be a bottom of the roster guy

I would take Kareem Hunt for free , if they’re interested
