In regards to his friendship with Hurts

He's not about SWAG

Two reasons:

  1. Supply & demand.  Demand for QBs is relatively constant.  However, the supply has been pretty good this year: Deshaun Watson, Russ, Baker, Garropollo, Wentz, Ryan.  This reduces Jalen's trade value.   Next year the supply will likely be less, which means that there may be a market then.  This is especially true because...
  2. Jalen Hurts is likely to put in better numbers this year.  We have a better supporting cast and he has another year in this system.  We'd have a QB with good numbers and with a dirt cheap salary cap number.  That's marketable, that's trade-able.  It would put the Eagles in a position where we don't necessarily have to move on from him, but I still think that's the plan.

As far as point #2, I think Hurts is close to being a finished product; I have my doubts he will improve by any demonstrable amount.  Let's say I'm wrong.  What degree of improvement will change the Eagles' plan?

Everyone knows Hurts' basic numbers from last season -- 265/432 (61.3%), 3,144 yards and 16 TD to 9 INT.  139 runs for 784 yards (5.6 ypc) with 10 TDs rushing

I always argued that Wentz shouldn't be throwing the football more than 31 times per game.  His record as Eagles QB was 18-2 when throwing 31 times or less and it was much worse the more he threw, so let's apply the same standard to Hurts.  He threw 432 times in 15 games (missed one with injury and sat out Week 18).  That's 29 passes per game.

Instead of arguing Hurts should be much more prolific as a passer, let's argue he should be much more efficient.  There were 13 QBs last year who were at least 67% in completions so I'll apply that standard to Hurts.  30 passes per game over 17 games is 510 passes.  67% of 510 passes is 342 completions.  Last season Hurts had 11.86 yards per completion, so if he matched that against these numbers, he would be something like:

342/510 (67%) for 4,056 yards.  If he could stay at 2 TD per INT or better that might change the Eagles plans beyond 2022.  Even 330/510 (64.7%)  for 3,914 yards would also show a meaningful improvement.

I don't see it happening.  I think his style of play will have him injured for at least a couple of games, and I just don't see him becoming more efficient as a passer -- but I sure hope I'm wrong.

I just want to update my Swag level...

Jalen Hurts gets his haircuts and fades at Creators in Marlton.... I do too... so basically same amount of swag minus the work out videos

Do you get stupid designs on the side and back of your head?

no. too white. too old. too professional.

You're not on Hurts level then. Maybe if you had them throw in a zip zag or an S for swag or something like that

I love the big green egg, I've had mine for 10+ years now and have had no issues with it.They are on the more expensive side, but they are very well built and have a lifetime warranty on virtually every part. They are a ceramic cooker, I would say on the heavier side, and I feel they hold their heat better in colder/windy weather. I have the large, but wish I would have gotten the XL since there are sometimes issues fitting a costco brisket on the large. I see they now also have a XXL, that might be worth an upgrade.

There's going to be a slowdown, but forget about a serious recession, consumer demand is strong, unemployment is as low as it has been since before the 2008 crash, and the world is adjusting to both Omicron and the Russian war.

The Fed is raising rates, cooling the overheated housing market, and companies are learning to adjust to the end of supply chain madness (built around cost cutting without regard to geopolitical and other risks, look for the return of inventories). Inflation will gradually subside and long-term interest rates will stabilize.

Underlying fundamentals are still solid, it's the froth (tech bubbles) that will blow away.

The unemployment numbers are beyond fake and inflation is putting those being paid to stay home under water

Could be more to this story like maybe the eagles were forcing them to also take JJAW and the ravens were like I’m out

Yeah.  Companies don't have enough workers.  Not just the company I work for.....but a ton...all over the country.  And I am supposed to believe the unemployment # or that it is a positive?

A lot of people I know have left their previous industries because similar pay is coming from easier jobs. People at Dunkin are making 18 an hour right now while kitchen jobs are still starting at 13. Plus Amazon warehouses are popping up everywhere. Had 3 old employees get up and quit together and start together there.

Yep.  That's our issue too.

Hell I gave up being a chef after running kitchens the last 8 years to become a job coach with adults with different needs. Two dollar raise, state benefits, and no boss over my shoulder ever ...plus no drunk ass customers!

This Tua thing cracks me up.

Our QB was benched for Tua in a title game, because his coach, one of the best in college football history, said our QB "was having trouble getting the ball into the hands of his weapons”. Then Tua takes over the starting job, causing our QB to transfer.

They both go to the NFL, and both struggle throwing the football. In a playoff game, a defensive coach says "he can’t read” about our QB.

Fans get frustrated at our QB, and somehow, some fans call them "racist” or "haters”, when his shortcomings are  blatantly obvious to not just us, but his coach in college and coaches around the NFL. Oh, and Shannon Sharpe among other NFL analysts.

But Skip Bayless likes him, so he has to be good....

That’s not entirely accurate.  Hurts stayed one more year at Alabama as Tua’s backup earning high praise for his handling of it. (Frankly, making him look like the ideal backup to Wentz when we were losing Foles).  In fact, in Clemson’s win, Alabama pulled Tua and let Hurts play.  Of course, the game wasn’t in reach at that point, partly because of Tua’s play.  Hurts graduated and transferred to OU. Russell Wilson graduated and went to Wisconsin. Can’t quite treat a graduate transfer the same way as a transfer portal transfer.  Both struggling to read in the NFL, accurate.

I got out of the kitchen in 2002.  I was a Exec Chef/F&B.  Enjoyed it...but lots of work and no social time.

It's 12-14 hours six days a week. I miss the guys I worked with and I'm thankful for the stability the job brought me and it being the reason im engaged and in the delivery room waiting for my first kid, but it was definitely time to go. I wouldn't of had the chance to be here if I was still in the kitchen

Speaking of NC State.

You know what former Eagles QB was born in Raleigh NC?  Hint:  He can throw the ball a hell of lot better than Jalen Tebow.

Would that be the one that got us home field advantage on the way to winning a Super Bowl ??
