No one wanted to draft him, he didn’t run an offense in college with complex reads, his attitude in camp has come into question, his performance in camp has not been stellar (even for a rookie), the team hasn’t seen him fit to be worth the opportunities people think he e somehow earned.

It’s one thing to criticize a decision after it’s been proven to be a mistake, it’s another entirely to sit back and say the dozens of scouts, coaches and front office people doing this 60+ hours a week don’t hold a candle to that time you saw some  YouTube highlights.

At the moment, he’s a 53 man cut. Sinnett has the edge on PS spot. Will be a feat to win RotY from his couch.

Again, because you saw some YouTube highlights. There was a dude who thought this about Mike Kafka. There were a couple of dudes who thought this about Matt Barkley on the old site. And next year there will be someone who’ll claim this about the fifth string QB from the University of Incarnate Word because their school YouTube editor has good production skills.

4000 yards, may be close, probably not.  1000 yards, that is not what the Eagles want and will be bad for the team.  40 TD passes, not a snowballs chance in hell.  MVP, will not even sniff a vote.

mike, you clearly did not read the earlier posts.  The original premise was that the Saints crashed and the Eagles had pick #5 and got their QB of the future with that pick.  The question posed by the OP was what to do with pick #20.  He asked the Blog how they felt about taking Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas with that second pick in the 1st Round, which he projected to be pick #20.

So with that clarification, how would you use pick #20?

I do wonder if his improvement is enough,  combined with this excellent roster around him,  to make is legit deep playoff contenders. That's what I'm hoping. 

The thing is, we don’t know if short passes and off target passes in practice are on Hurts or the WR for running the wrong route or a timing issue.  Actually, the suggestion was he was down considerably in interceptions this camp.   A lot of TC is focused on timing and placement.  What the Beats don’t know is what the progressions are on the play.  Finally, we don’t know if it is a defense or offense focused play.  The idea that the defense won or the offense won can be a bit off.  It could be that the offense is told to run a play specifically for the defense to practice against it.  Because of that, I tend to take the Beats views with a touch of skepticism. 

That said, I tend to agree with @NCiggles.and you that there is probably some improvement but that we will probably experience frustration with Hurts during the season.   I dropped in to see what drivel Kempski was pushing today.   Interesting that he apparently changed his tune from the practice notes from the joint practice after Sirianni went through the play and the progressions on a couple of plays.  That kind of reinforces my perspective on the Beats’ practice notes.  I noted that Kempski had some sort of four questions for the other Beats and one of them was will Hurts be the QB in 2023.  The majority said yes.  

Now of the Beats, my lowest is ESP, followed by BLG followed by Kempski (although I do like his college scouting suggestions only because he sometimes points to players I had yet to consider, so basically Beast) then a toss up between Wulf and Chris Franklin.  I can’t imagine actually listening to ESP on purpose.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni says QB Jalen Hurts had his best practice ever


We’re only talking about practice, but Jalen Hurts has improved immensely, and his head coach believes Wednesday was his most efficient day as a professional, Glenn Erby of USA Today's Eagles Wire reports.

While addressing the media on Thursday morning, Sirianni praised his quarterback, stating that Hurts "had his best practice” since becoming the Eagles’ head coach.

"What he was doing with the football and being able to go through reads and progressions that fast and getting the ball where it needed to go was unbelievable.”

Philadelphia added A.J. Brown on draft night, and the Eagles have the most talented group of weapons on the roster in years, setting Hurts up for success as a potential contract extension looms.

On offense, I think there effectiveness depends on Hurts being routinely effective.  He has to have a go to route that will be effective for the team in the passing game.  If they do that, I think the can be an above average offense.  I am more concerned that the defense will not look significantly better despite the upgrades.
