Interesting Araiza won't play. If it was the regular season I wonder if it would've been different.

I think the debate on what to do in these situations is interesting.

Should anyone accused of something heinous not be allowed to play no questions asked? That opens the door for people to accuse someone of anything to get them booted from the team until a long investigation is done. Like some fan of an opposing team could just accuse Rodgers of assault for the hell of it a day before a playoff game.

Should it be based on the nature of the report and how credible it comes off? For example, don't take accusations as seriously if it's just one random person who is like "One day in Vegas ____ assaulted me!" with no details or context, but take reports that have multiple alleged victims on record claiming the same thing.

Or do you do nothing at all until the investigation is complete? To me #1 is a non-starter. The precedent set is too bad to that. It's between 2 and 3. In most instances, I lean #3, because I believe strongly in due process, even for non criminal cases. There's nothing to be lost by allowing someone to play until an investigation is complete. But I think there should be some instances where if the evidence is so overwhelming, like a dozen people accusing someone of something, all with similar allegations backed up by specifics, where exceptions can be made.

Case by case basis for sure.

The Raiders release Ruggs pretty much right away. It looks pretty clear that Araiza is guilty. He already admitted to having sex with a minor. The longer they wait, the worse it gets for the Bills.

@mattwill, after back to back iOL in RD2, we should pass on OL early in next years draft. It's a bad class, and other positions require more helps. Also, at some point, have to trust Stout. We need a 3rd OT, not a starter.

Fair enough Crip.  I did like the Johnson continuity though.

The worse what gets?  It's as easy to find a punter as it is to find a 17 year-old girl in California to have sex with.

Every single throw in practice is his chance. Every single team meeting is his chance. Every single preseason snap is his chance. When he’s not shining in these instances, You want more for him, why? We should no longer have the best players play? Go 3-14 but be satisfied because the worst Qb on the roster got his "chance?”

Jalen Hurts isn’t our starting quarterback because he’s some prodigy. He’s our starting QB because every other guy on the roster can’t wipe their own ass without getting crap all over their hand. The very fact Strong is listed behind Sinnett tells us the team believes that giving Strong more "shots” is a complete waste of everyone’s time.

How can he show anything if they're not allowing him any reps in practice? I don't remember when it was but Nick was praising him in the beginning of the offseason and then the reports basically faded away. Now we're told he sucks in practice so badly that they don't allow him to have any reps at all

For the Bills. Teams can get fined/lose draft picks if they players violate the personal conduct policy. Of course, that doesn't mean the NFL will do that, just that they could.

You're right though. Taking this stance for a rookie punter is crazy.

The Patriots offense in general was terrible last year. The year before with a good QB Agholor had his best season.

Agholor is an underachiever and Quez is an overachiever but it’s too early to tell who is better than who.

Agholor isn't an underachiever.  He is heading into his 7th season.  He is who he is.  He's exactly what he is.  He achieves exactly for the player he is and has shown over the course of his career.

Quez went to a small school which worked against him coming out of the draft as well as questions about his work ethic and character concerns.  He's so far killed those concerns.  I was big on him coming out of the draft and believed he would be better than Hightower whow as drafted a round before.  He missed most of his rookie year due to injuries and when he came back he didn't see anytime due to missing so much time until the last 3 games of the season and he immediately flashed.  Last year was the first time he played a substantial amount of the season and he had pretty damn good year considering that as well as how he was the 3rd WR and also down the food chain in targets to Ertz, Goedert and the RBs.

Quez is good and he will only get better.  If the Eagles let him get to free agency in 2 years then likely some team will throw starter money at him.

Same. How you would rank future team needs?

For me it's QB, CB, EDGE, RB, LB, OT, TE.
There's just too many more positions that require premium resources in the future.

@LeanMeanGM

I'll be a homer this year and go 12-5

Hot Take: Pascal is in the top 3 on the team for receiving TDs

Nick praising him in May or June meant nothing. He was asked at a press conference what he thought about Strong and he simply gave some positive comments, not unlike when Doug praised Mack Hollins for knowing how to line up properly. What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to give a detailed critique of all his deficiencies? No, you make a couple of meaningless compliments and move on to the next question.

There were also reports he was throwing well in the beginning...

Yup, buddy really couldn't pick a RB to save his life.

Byars which ended up being a 1st for a receiving FB☹️

Toney in the 2nd who was derailed by injuries

Robert Drummond in the 3rd🤮

Best back he got was Sherman in the 6th and love The tank but he was very average.

In California it can be treated as a misdemeanor, depending on the circumstances.  I’m still troubled by no criminal complaint.  The accuser’s version should withstand scrutiny just like the accused.

The timing of this seems like a cash grab

I'm just now reading about the Tyrone Smith injury.  WOW that sounds painful.  He's a top talent at LT but his injury luck is horrible.  I can't imagine having my hamstring ripped off the knee. Damn.

Definitely sounds brutal, and he had to wait a couple days to get surgery so they probably pumped him full of pain killers.

What I don’t get is how he cracked his knee on a noncontact injury? Maybe the Hamstring tearing was THAT severe

I think there is a criminal investigation that is ongoing. Police have recorded conversations between him and the victim, and the victim's lawyer said that the civil suit is unrelated to any criminal charges that might be filed.

Not at all unusual for a plaintiff attorney speaking with the press or even in drafting a petition to present the plaintiff’s position in a way most damaging to the defendant.  Right now, that is all we have seen. It does seem that because she wasn’t yet the age of consent that is troubling to the defendant. But the fact not even serving alcohol to a minor charges have been brought in a year is concerning from a prosecution perspective.

NFL is bound by its agreement with the NFLPA so as a body, it cannot bring a Personal Conduct case as this preceded the player subjecting himself to NFL jurisdiction.  But as an employer, the Bills aren’t forced to employ him, but also don’t have the ability to suspend him. It’s either fire or not.

It depends how you define "show anything."  There is "showing" to the public and "showing" to the coaching staff.  Very different.

I doubt the investigators are worried about rushing a gang rape investigation just so they can bring a solid providing alcohol to a minor case.

This case sounds super complicated with potentially dozens of witnesses, many of whom were drinking. They have to interview eveyone they can find who was there, most likely multiple times.

Obviously you have to wait and see how this shakes out, but the punter telling the girl to get checked for an std wasn't the smartest move in the world.
