Andy did not end McNabb''s running career. Rush Limbaugh and McNabb did that. He ran for 38.4 ypg in 51 starts before Limbaugh (including 153 in the first 3 weeks of 2003) and he ran for 200 total in the next 13 games. So now he was an inefficient passing QB who stopped using one of his best abilities to create on broken plays with scrambles or runs.

( I don't care about his 2004 (he did not need to run) or 2005 (sports hernia due to cheap shot on opening night) rushing totals.)

He still had some horrible passing games after that in 2003. What he did not do is face the Bucs D or Patriots D at all after week 2. That is what changed.

After that moment in 2003 he was great vs DC (124.7) and bad vs DC (51.7). He was great vs Dallas (105) and bad vs Dallas (70.4).  He was great vs the Giants (132.5) and bad vs the Giants(29.1). Same weirdo, same teams. He was always just McNabb. They did not win with his distribution of the football. They won with the 3-headed-monster (27 TDs) at RB and their D.

This was not Foles getting sacked 5 times in the first half vs Jax in 2014 and then getting sacked only 4 times in the next 28 quarters. This was McNabb letting Limbaugh affect him and make him a lesser QB going forward.

McNabb going out of his way to shun the weapon that was his rushing ability absolutely hurt his effectiveness.  I think the best game of McNabb's career is the 4th and 26 game.  That 4 TD pass with a broken leg/ankle against the Cardinals in 2002 probably skewed his view that he could be just a pocket passer but that 4th and 26 game during the playoffs of the 2003 season was his finest display as a pro.  Big game, at home in the divisional round of the playoffs against Hall of Famer Brett Favre.  Absolute dogshit WRs that can't do anything.  Westbrook who put the team on his back all season went down with some needless injury in week 17 against the Redskins so he wasn't playing.  McNabb returned to his natural talent of picking up yards on the ground as well as in the air.

Oh wow, Jalen Hurts wasn't a finished product in his second season and first season starting.  He has accumulated 2 years experience and far more playoff snaps than Wentz for his career and he's still younger than Wentz was when he made his first career start.  Jalen Hurts is going to improve and we are about to witness it.  Enjoy.

Are you going to disappear if he ends up sucking?

Why would I?  I've been posting on the EMB since long before you started hopping from the Cowboys to the Eagles grasshopper.

Why do you have such a consistent negative reaction to optimism revolving the team's starting QB?

Josh Allen through 19 starts:

56.8% 3653 yards passing 20 TDs 19 picks  74.9 rating 852 yards rushing 12 TDs.

This does not mean Hurts is any good or will be any good. It means let him actually play some games first to figure out who he is.

The difference is that Jalen Hurts isn't going to wake up one morning like Peter Parker and have new ability. The difference in arm talent between Allen and Hurts is significant. That gap doesn't go away. Hurts is limited in a way Allen isn't. Pay attention to their throwing mechanics, you'll see the major differences in skill.

They really need to bring back the horn and then whatever rock track they played after every score at home games.  No idea why they ever got rid of that.

Josh Allen wasn't drafted for skill.  He was drafted for raw talent.  He has one of the strongest arms in the NFL, of course Hurts doesn't have that.  But that isn't the defining reason as to why Josh Allen is great.  He had one of the strongest arms in the NFL his first two seasons as well when he wasn't at all consistent.  Josh Allen had the work ethic and drive to maximize his natural ability which is obviously generational.  Jalen Hurts also has that same work ethic and drive to maximize his natural ability.  It isn't generational but it's certainly to a level to where he could be a top 8-12 QB in the league if he can maximize his natural ability.

Jalen Hurts is going to have a big season.  Probably not as big as Josh Allen's 3rd season but it will still be a big season.

Throwing a football the way Josh Allen does is absolutely skill and it is why he was drafted in the top 10. Very few people can throw the ball like that. He wasn't drafted for his work ethic, and Jalen Hurts won't be a great QB just because he works hard. I can work hard at being an NFL QB, that doesn't mean I'll be great. It takes great talent and skill.

I admire your blind support for Jalen + your attempt at trolling/humor. Don't ever change, brother.

Sure in general. Doesn’t mean he can’t all of a sudden play on a super star level either though, does it? Him trying really hard sure won’t hurt either.

This is the year for him to prove it so lets just enjoy the show and hope for the best.

If he does work out I sure can see all the people claiming it was obvious for many reasons already.. 😄

Sorry, those 2003 RBs had 29 TDs. I forgot Westbrook's 2 returns in the total.

The distributer of the football had 19.

I think it’s unfair to compare anything to 2003. The game is extremely different

Good on you.

10-7.

Hurts leads the teams in rushing (both carries and yards)... again.   Make playoffs, bounced in the first round... again.

@mattwill, after back to back iOL in RD2, we should pass on OL early in next years draft. It's a bad class, and other positions require more helps. Also, at some point, have to trust Stout. We need a 3rd OT, not a starter.

We will likely need a starter in 2024, if not sooner.  Gotta hope that OT3 can develop into a starting RT.

How many years has he been working hard?

Game today.

Dear Zachary is the only film I've ever teared up at. But I'm also kinda dead inside.

Completely over-blown.  Lucky really, it's not like he knew the window was going to be that close when he let go of the ball.

Maybe not but he put it in the exact spot he needed to with enough zip that the window didn't close.  Might not have been the best decision but it was definitely a very good throw.

I wouldn’t say it sucked, but I kinda get what you’re saying.

My best friend recommended this documentary to me and did not warn me, probably the saddest crap I’ve ever watched.

Something worth mentioning regarding the Eagles declining Dillard's fifth-year option. It does not preclude them re-signing him or extending him.  As I read it, had they exercised the option, they would have to pay him the average of the 3d through 25th highest OT salaries. Were he a starter that would be a no-brainer, but he's not. He could be, elsewhere. However, by declining the option the Eagles may well be able to retain him at a lower salary. They can always offer to match and it seems extremely unlikely to me that another team will blow the doors off on a guy who has played so little and missed a season due to injury.

Maybe they trade him. Maybe they keep him for 2022. And maybe they re-sign or extend him beyond 2022.

Just sayin'.

Holy hell. I just read the synopsis. No chance I’m watching that.

Josh Allen didn't throw the ball like he does when he was in college or the first two years in the league.  He wasn't anything close to a consistent passer but he worked on his game.  He was drafted as high as he was because of his physical ability, a large mobile strong QB with a very strong arm.  He was extremely raw though and if this organization drafted him many here would have been trying to run him out of town after his second season.
