I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Has to be a division rival fan because Bengals are definitely a fun team to watch now

Seemed like a Ravens fan.  Did all their games.

I'll watch because I think Lawrence bounces back. Also think Commies are better than they're being made out to be (not because of Wentz). Nice weapons and getting Young back.

He won’t even get suspended for just this

Idk what was more frustrating... watching a very capable passer in Wentz make terrible decisions and mistakes, or watching a bad passer in Hurts struggle passing the ball.

The latter because it has less room for hope.

I’m not so sure. The hope is what made it hurt. I didn’t expect much last year so it wasn’t very disappointing. Kinda just like "meh”.

Jurgens seems like a fun player and easy to cheer for in the mold of Jason Kelce but I think the Eagles over drafted him by a round.  It's going to be interesting to see if he develops in to what people think he can.

I'm still really torn on this past draft.  While it does look great to add players like Jordan Davis, AJ Brown and the potential of Nakobe Dean in the 3rd, there are still a lot of questions about the way Howie used his resources.

Jordan Davis-  Howie traded 4 picks to get him. 15- G Kenyon Green, 124 K Cam York, 162 WR Montrell Washington, 166 S Tycen Anderson.

Yes, he can be dominant but Jordan Davis might only play 35-40% of the snaps and who knows how he will maintain his body to increase that workload as his career progresses.  A guy like Kyle Hamilton isn't coming off the field.  So 4 picks for what essentially is a part time player.  Dominant or not, Davis is a rotational player.

The AJ Brown trade.  2 picks and $100 million contract.  Those picks ended up being Treylon Burks and Jeremy Ruckert.  I've been a bit Ruckert fan and he's going to be a solid to very good pro for a decade.

2021 stats for the WR getting paid over $20 million/year.

Davantae Adams- 123 catches 1,553 yards 11 TD (16 games)

Tyreek Hill- 111 catches 1,239 yards 9 TD (17 games)

AJ Brown- 63 catches 849 yards 5 TD (13 games)    Adjust that out to 17 games and he has 82 catches for 1,110 yards and 6/7 TD.

Stefon Diggs- 103 catches 1,225 yards 10 TD (17 games)

DJ Moore- 93 catches 1,157 yards 4 TD (17 games)

Chris Godwin- 98 catches 1103 yards 5 TD (14 games)

Mike Williams- 76 catches 1,146 yards 9 TD (16 games)

These guys getting paid are volume WR which helps justify paying them top dollar.  I don't see AJ Brown ever catching more than 80 passes in a season here, especially with Hurts as the QB.  No denying Brown's talent but the investment for this team and their offense does not seem ideal.  I'm going to be very interested in how guys like Treylon Burks, Christian Watson, George Pickens, Skyy Moore, Jon Metchie, Wan'Dale Robinson, Alec Pierce and Tyquan Thornton perform.  All guys taken between pick 18 and directly after Jurgens.  I'm not taking anything away from Brown as a player, he is a supreme talent.  Just question the resources used for the team.

The rest of the draft the Eagles were handcuffed because they didn't have the picks to maneuver up and down the board due to the Davis and Brown trade.  The players taken at those exact slots aren't as important as what those picks could have meant for ammo to move around in the middle rounds where a lot of talent was sitting.

They were forced to overdraft Cam Jurgens in the 2nd.

Dean could be a steal in the 3rd and they took him after a run on LB.

Johnson is looking like a ST player which is OK for where he was drafted.

This could all be for not though if Davis comes in and turns in to a 75-80% snaps/game John Henderson type of player, the Eagles use AJ as a prototypical volume WR1, Jurgens replaces Kelce at a high level and Dean is the steal we all hope he is.

Calcaterra could end up being a solid TE or he could get knocked out.

Do the PR guys know that this team doesn't 'grind' in the PS?  They have no interest in it.

This team has no plan. They mindlessly pass outside and move no closer to the rim. You have your center playing exclusively outside of the arc shooting 3s. The paint doesn’t exist. They are playing like it’s early November without any heart. Pathetic.

I'm excited to see him throw a bomb to Watkins (I assume he wont be playing with Brown or Smith)

I’m sure his injuries are playing a part. He hasn’t been the same since he hurt his thumb.

I dunno, Eagles don’t like playing their starting QB much during the preseason

To be fair the last update I saw on the Jeudy thing was that the police said there was no actual violence. It all stems from her saying he had something of hers he didn't give back.  They said the domestic violence add on was because they have a kid together but no actual violence.

Blow it up. Keep Embiid & Maxey and rethink the entire organization.
