We play them both coming up, good news for us

Good for Rivera. I like when coaches call out reporters.

Speaking of coaches calling out reporters.  Maybe the most logical, sane response in regards to people who want to see race in everything.

Yup.

When Tony Dungy matched up against Lovie Smith in the Super Bowl it was a big deal in that moment.   When Art Shell was hired as the first African American coach, it was a big deal.   But, at this point, it shouldn't be.   The expectation should be that teams hire the most qualified person, and their race, gender or preferred shampoo brand shouldn't be a consideration, neither pro nor con.

I think the point that Bowles is making is that he doesn't want to be seen as a 'black' coach, but rather as a coach.

2017 was a gift.  He was pretty good in 2018 as well.  If anyone could figure out what happened, maybe they could fix it.  But, it seems no one has the answer.

Injuries. He was more explosive as an athlete, which opened up more throws outside of structure.

To a certain extent I agree... and maybe that concussion.  But his vision also seems to be greatly diminished as well.   Is he not studying as much, is he not retaining as much when he studies?   Is his vision actually less acute?

I think his game never adapted to his new limitations. Dude took abuse for years and now can't outrun anyone and seems to hit his hand on a helmet once a week. Does absolutely nothing to protect himself. I would equate him to a punch drunk boxer

Probably a good comp.   And should stand as a testament for Hurts to run less and protect himself more when he does.   Limited shelf life when a body takes that kind of abuse.

I think he just hit his breaking point mentally and now he just tries too hard to reclaim what he used to have.  I think it's all mental with him.

Eagles winning a Super Bowl when he was injured and then Eagles going on another little playoff run the next season when he was kind of shadow benched in a weird situation.  Finally getting to the playoffs to play in then only to get concussed very early on.  But the big thing was the drafting of Hurts in the 2nd round.  After all of that, that's the thing that really messed him up.

Week 1 vs Washington the oline playing like crap the first few drives but he was looking great.  Towards the end of the first half and he threw a terrible INT and that was it.  He was never the same since.  Oline played much better the second half but it didn't matter, Wentz was pressing and playing horrendously.  As a result they activate Hurts for the next game and start that gimmick crap with him coming in for a play or two.  Wentz was never able to recover.  Having flashbacks to Foles.

Ridiculous questions to keep pushing their narratives. The media has really hit an all time low the last few years.

All they did was ask him about his own quotes

Rivera was way out of bounds the other day and he knows it

Seeing Jeff McLane get called out a couple of times has been funny. He's an idiot.

As for the Bears game; dire.  The Bears O has no talent, they are David Carring the QB they traded up for and as for the Commode Doors, Wentz hero ball'd himself onto a bad team.  TNF is a dumpster fire

The white woman reporter trying to whitesplain to him how he should feel and giving the condescending "You do understand…” is an all timer.

Its not just injuries.  He hasnt improved a single aspect of his game since he came into the league, and he's one of the most stubborn QBs Ive ever seen.

His lack of ball security is a joke at this point.

Yes the circumstances of his career are really unlucky. But it doesnt excuse some of the rookie mistakes he makes and the baffling decision-making

I havent seen as many "Wentz moments" in Washington like we saw in his last year here or in Indy.  But I think its too late for him.  No one is going to wait for him to develop into a good decision-maker and game manager anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if hes completely of the league in a couple years. I think hed rather hunt ducks than be a backup QB.

Crazy because he is so physically gifted

The funny about all the roughing the passer penalties last week; Fields too some harder hits than Brady took and no flag.  Makes those calls look worse

Bigger, scrambling quarterbacks never have gotten the benefit of the doubt. Cam Newton used to get murdered in the pocket and never got any calls.

Even Vick wouldn't get the calls as a smaller QB.  Fields in the pocket took some big hits; one at the end was at his knees but the flag wasn't thrown.

What grade do you give Hurts last sunday?

By the way, you're the guy who died on the hill that Hurts was the only person who could beat/win/put up the points we did against the Lions in week 1.

I never said Hurts was the only person who could be the Lions week 1.  I just what is factually correct and that Hurts was one of the two main reasons (along with the play of AJ Brown) as to why the Eagles did win week 1.

I'd give Hurts a solid B to B+ for the Cardinals game.

Yup.  He handled it perfectly.  It is a big deal to those who want it to be a big deal.   And then they have to try to convince those that are involved in it why they are wrong when they don't agree that its a big deal.   Once upon a time, it was a big deal.   But Art Shell was hired in 1989.  We've got a lot more black coaches than ever.  Is the number fully representative of the league as a whole?  No.  Should it be?   Ahhhh... there's the question, isn't it?  "Should" it be would mean that somewhere there's a perfect ideal for what the proper percentage is defined to be.  For some reason, there are those who believe that percentage should be determined by the percentages of NFL players, as if only that level of football matters.   Maybe it "should" be based on the percentages of players at the HS level.   Or... crazy thought, maybe there shouldn't be a target number for what it should be, but rather the way the process is done should be the goal.  Interview only those who are seriously being considered.  And seriously consider everyone being interviewed.  And determine who should be interviewed based on their qualifications and nothing else.

A lot of coaches in the NFL go into coaching very young, because their career as a player has reached an apex.  Andy Reid played college ball and never sniffed the pros.  He immediately went into grad assistant coaching, etc.   And today he's one of the most successful coaches in the history of the league.  Did that happen because he is melanin-challenged?  Nope.  He took over for Ray Rhodes, who was a highly successful DC in the NFL, but not a successful HC.  Was his failure as a HC because of his degree of melanin?   Nope.  Many coordinators just can't manage the HC job.  It happens all the time and it happens to all races.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. said back in 1964.."I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

It seems that dream remains unfulfilled even nearly 60 years later, because some people want a person who has been judged by the content of their character (or in this case, qualification) to focus not on that, but rather on the color of his skin.  I can't imagine what it must be like to have to talk about an issue like that which plays no part in the outcome of the upcoming game, rather than the game itself.  And, my guess... this is hardly the first time that's happened to him.  He probably had similar questions asked of him when he was hired.  And again, this pool of reporters were likely focusing on his skin color, not his qualifications for the job.

So, we'll be watching checkers?   All red vs all black?   🤮

Now that I think about it, I might be misremembering. Maybe it's simply that the Texans will be doing their all red that night. That part I'm pretty sure of but I can't be sure that the Eagles were going the black route.

It's not just that though. Just think about the series that led up to the Jake Elliott game winner against the Giants. The play right before the field goal, he rips off a pass to the sideline to Alshon Jeffery that had to be pinpoint perfect, over a Giants defender and in front of another Giants defender. He made it look routine. None of us gave it a second thought as to being a superb pass. It was just what Carson Wentz does. We were used to seeing throws like that.

Does anyone think that last night's version of Carson Wentz would be able to casually hit a throw that perfectly in a critical situation?

It makes me sad seeing what's happened, and I don't understand it.

It boggles my mind that we have a reasonable chance to draft ahead of those two dumpster fires. Then again, maybe it doesn’t matter if they both draft QBs.

Agreed 100%.   It was a great throw, and it was the only place it could be... and had to be thrown hard because of the clock.   (And they might have gotten a little bit of a 'hometime clock operator boost' to stop the clock at 0:01, rather than let it hit 0:00.

6 points in the final 40 minutes is a B+?  Using your safety valve over and over and over again. Hurts was Check down Charlie Sunday

Eagles had 4 drives in the second half.  One of those "drives" was a one play kneel down with 17 seconds left.  So he led scoring drives on two of the 3 actual drives they had in the second half.  No turnovers, clock control with the lead offense and a win.

Go watch some figure skating and gymnastics, better suited for what you're looking for.
