I still can’t get over the refs picking up that block in the back flag. Went from 2nd and 19 at the 46 to 1st and 10 at the 20. And it was a blatantly obvious penalty. You can’t have that.

Right? Said it at the time it was the definition of what a block to the back was. I didn’t hear their reasoning for picking it up but there really isn’t a good one

If the block was away from the play, it’d be annoying and not a travesty, but it was the block that sprang Lamb. And it was right in front of the line judge. Just a brutal flag to pick up.

Here’s a weird scenario I realized this morning:

Arizona is currently 2-4, 1 game back from the NFC West lead. What’s significant now is Deandre Hopkins just came off suspension this morning. Despite the year Adams and Jefferson are having, I still believe he is still the best WR in the NFL. He’s been that every year since Megatron retired and he’s STILL only 30. Week 7 he’ll be the freshest player in the NFL, and he’ll have deep threat Marquise Brown commanding a safety over the top every single play — something he’s never had his entire career. He is going to absolutely annihilate the league these next 10 games. Remember the Kyler Murray disparity last year: they started the year 10-2, then went 1-4 after Deandre got hurt. He has that big of an impact on Kyler and that team as a whole. No guarantee, but they have a real shot at running away with that division. Rams and Niners are both .500 teams and have had some UGLY losses this year. Niners have no offense, and their D just got run over by Atlanta. Rams are averaging 17 ppg, one of the worst offenses in the league.

Vikings look like they could run away with the NFC North, already have a 2 game lead and a tie breaker over the only other good team.

Dallas looks to be a wild card team and may even improve once Dak gets back. But even without him, they already beat….

NYG whom we should match up extremely well against.

Does anyone here realistically think Green Bay is losing 10-11 games this year? They still get to play the Bears whom they own, they still get the Lions, the Commanders, the Tua-less Dolphins…. Even in a bad year Rodgers will still have some big performances. That’s a wild card team in the 2022 NFC.

And then there’s New Orleans. Would love to get a top 5 pick from them, but they are also only 1 game out of the division lead there. Brady is hurting and the Saints have a rash of injuries to their Star players. When they all come back healthy, they could start racking up divisional wins. If there was one team that could take it to Brady in that division….

Its an outside shot, but it’s very possible Philadelphia could SWEEP the entire NFC playoff bracket in the regular season, which has obviously never happened in history. Look at that list; that’s it.

Brown left yesterdays game where he could put no weight on his ankle. He might be out for a few weeks

Does he have any weight to put on it to begin with?

The best thing for this offense would be to find a Shawn Andrews 2.0 in the first round next year.  Maybe not that same unique level of talent, but subtract the unfortunate mental problems and it's a similar ask.  They need a bullying collegiate OT to come in and play RG from day 1 and eventually move out to RT to replacing an aging franchise icon.  Of course, that didn't happen with Andrews, but that was his exact plan when drafted.

I know I sound like a broken record, but this OL is going to be the death of them this year.  They need to protect themselves against these inevitable, relentless second half musical chairs.

Another option could be....when (and if) Lane is ready to retire (I have a feeling he has several good years left) ....we could start Dillard at LT and slide Mailata over to RT (A more natural position for a man of his stature)  ...pretty sure he wouldn't skip a beat.

And Dillard is beyond solid at LT.  + we would keep the 1st round pick that it would take to get a tackle.

And Slay has dropped a couple too.

Vikings game I don't know how many he dropped. He was a ball hawk in that game

I thought the rams and packers would regress a little bit, but both have really fallen off through 6 games. Packers losing at home to the jets and to the giants. Rams can’t block at all. The Bucs have yet to score over 21 points this year and they have might not be able to turn it on like years past. Vikings and Dallas I’m less surprised where they sit based on what i thought about them before the year. Giants are a surprise. I thought they’d be better but i thought for sure they’d be 3-3 after the last two weeks. The west and south is just a dumpster fire. The afc in comparison has the bil, chiefs, jets, pats, colts, titans and chargers all over .500

mentioned this as soon as it happened last night.  If that happened pre-Tua, we wouldn't have even heard about it and he doesn't miss a snap.

We are now in the After Tua or (AT) era of the NFL.

The dolphins screwed the rest of us.

I think the problem with Hurts for some people are expectations, if you want him to be Mahomes or Allen, tough luck.

A better way to see him is Brady in his first three years as a NE starter, Belichick ran a conservative, ball control offense where Brady was a game manager, handing the ball off and making quick throws to undersized smurfs who got open quickly. Then in 2004, Belichick opened up the offense as a great defense became merely "good," and the rest is history.

Hurts is a game manager, but he's a great game manager, you want to know what Minshew would look like as a starter - look at Dallas last night. Rush is a smart but limited QB who will have a ten year career as a top backup and retire with $30M in the bank. But he'll never hold a starting job for long b/c of his limitations, the same for Minshew.

You can win a SB with the current version of Hurts, your odds go up if he continues to improve. But he's going to win with leadership (unflappable under pressure), the ability to make most of the plays that matter (how often do top QBs throw deep outs across their body?) and good decison making, and his legs when needed.

But here's the magic question, of all the QBs drafted in the first round the last three years, who would you take over Hurts? Being consistently good >> long odds that a loser suddenly lives up to his physical potential. Lawrence is a good example, second season in Jax, still erratic, cooled off after a hot start.

Hurts is 4th in net yards per attempt, and that includes Tua and Jones, both who are injured and missed some games, Allen is 2nd, Herbert 6th, Mahomes 7th.

Yup.  They saw it.  Then they picked it up.  Not sure how its not a call when a guy plants his face mask basically on the name plate of a defender.

But, they also allowed Dallas to line up offsides a ton of times and only called it twice, I think.

There were so many plays where a Cowboy lineman's hand was in the middle of, or beyond, the spotted football. Drove me freaking insane.

Let Edwards walk and start Dean. There is an immediate in-house replacement.

CGJ is the only player we have to re-sign. Resigning older CBs (Bradberry) is much scarier.

CGJ, White, Bradberry resign. Dean replaces Edwards.

Philly special podcast bringing up how when Dallas went on their run they threw just about every time Davis was on the field and ran as soon as he came off.

100% agreed. It was noticeable. Nobody wants to run at Jordan Davis. Most of Zeke's runs were when Davis left the field.

I agree. I want some continuity on this defense, and these guys are young playmakers.

We don't "need" White, but he should be cheap enough to keep.

Watched the game twice now, still can't find any footage of a play where Lane may have had his Bell rung.

Suddenly he was just on the sidelines, then the tent, then the locker room. No followup by the " B Cast Team".

Anybody know the play?

Probably one of the sneaks.  Only play where he blocks head first.

I'm coming down to Philly for the MNF game against Washington.

I need a jersey, and I've long wanted a Dawkins jersey. On the Eagles store right now, they have a decent deal where it's like $90 with a discount applied. Problem is, they nail me on shipping and duties, plus the conversion, which puts the total cost of it all at around $250 CAD.

For those that have been, are there Dawkins jerseys in the Eagles pro shop? Or, anywhere else in the city (driving down early Sunday morning so will have time to look around) that I could find one?

Ship it to your hotel? Most will accept it if you have reservations.

Im trying to think of fluky ones...

The Trevor Lawrence fumble #1 was huge and (for the most part) unforced.

We had a couple tip drill interceptions, the one vs Minny was a little fluky and the huge pop fly from the tipped pass last night...

We havent really had a ton of "good luck" turnovers.

Not many 'almost' turnovers, either.  I think all of our recovered fumbles were on early snaps.  Those and the Covey muff.

There was one big run when Davis was double teamed and the other DT was completely washed out of the play. I forget who it was. It was a bad night though for Marlon T and Milton Williams, who has been the biggest disappointment so far this year.

Not sure what you are laughing at.  They have taken a few deep shots this year... early on.

There were 1-2 a game up until the Washington game. Would like more but at least there were a few.  Then there were probably 5-6 in that game and connected on almost all of them. It was beatific.   Then it disappeared.

Really haven't thrown any in the last 2 games,  maybe more.

Tyreek Hill is on pace for almost 2,000 receiving yards despite playing with three different QBs this season. I hated that trade for Miami, but he’s been incredible without Mahomes.

My conclusion as well. Escaped the Broadcast crew though. With a key player going out, you'd think a sideline "Reporter" would have followed up...

waddle is also on pace for like 1500 yards. Pretty ridiculous both have a chance to go over that mark and have been missing tua for 2+ weeks now.

Priority number 1 is to lock up this ball hawking secondary. From Epps to Gardner to Bradberry. Once we do that we can attack the draft and free agency comfortably. Need to replace depth at D tackle for impending losses of Hargrave and Cox who are pretty expensive and too old. Want to get younger there. Need to draft a D end pretty high. Dean comes in at LB. Edwards is okay. Would keep he or White on a reasonable deal. Not both. Can work on drafting a RG, as Seumalo is just okay and will be expensive as we extend Hurts and others this offseason. Wouldn't extend Sanders. Need to pick our spots on who we extend to stay flexible on future salary cap. Overall, extensions should be Bradberry, Gardner, White or Edwards, Epps & Hurts. Figuring on a Kelce retirement for Jurgens to fill in immediately. Also, happy to keep BG as the main vet on a cheap deal. Barnett is history. Ha. Howie has done an amazing job setting up this team for a potential dynasty. Should be another fun offseason.

Perfect time to lock up a player or two with the bye week ahead.

I predicted an early season Epps extension. I’m a little surprised it hasn’t happened yet.

Agreed.  They were there... and now they are not.   But, they did throw deep early on this year.
